Morning Musume, Takarazuka team up for "Cinderella" musical
Sat, March 1, 2008 (7:58pm EST)
Morning Musume is once again teaming up with the Takarazuka Revue for a musical production. In 2006, Hello! Project members appeared in "Ribbon no Kishi," with the lead played by Ai Takahashi. This time, they will be taking on "Cinderella the Musical."
While Kaoru Ebira was the only Takarasienne to appear in "Ribon no Kishi," this time will involve many more of the group's actresses. The roster includes current members Ebira and Akemi Ko, former top stars Mire Aika and Saki Asaji, and 20 graduates serving as dancers. In addition, the musical is being directed by Sumio Sakai, a veteran Takarazuka director.
"Cinderella" will be performed 33 times at the Shinjuku Koma Stadium from August 6 to 25. Group tickets go on sale April 1, while general tickets will be available on June 29.

That's a good thing : Ai was wonderful in Ribbon no Kishi.
But I'm not convinced by the three new members in a comedy. Hope they'll prove me I'm wrong.

Since it's just MM this time, it should mean that they get some decent parts.
Shall we start guessing on roles?
Cinderella - let's just face it, she's amazing at singing and acting
Prince - Niigaki, or maybe Reina. I can just see Niigaki being an awesome bishounen prince!
Step sisters - Sayumi! that really would be an awesome joke! and then maybe koharu?
fairy godmother - Eri? hmm not so sure
pet friend - Mittsi(u know like in the disney film with the mice..that sort of idea)
err trying to think of other roles...prince will probably have an assistant, that could be Junjun and Linlin(what ever their roles i can almost guarantee they will be a duo..much like erika and yui) and the mother will probably be played by a takarazuka..as will the prince's parents

haha, I'm actually hoping that either Junjun, Linlin, or Niigaki to be Cinderella...
Or they may do Eri/Reina do the stepsisters, Takahashi as the stepmother, and Niigaki Cinderella? (like my fanfic) lol

the takarazuka member that played the king last time will probably play the king this time too.
Then another member will play the Queen. So that leaves 2 others to have 'roles'(not backing dancers as it were) so probably a step-mother..then another..probably a random character specific to this version of the play. Is there a kind of 'buttons' character in this version???(it's the Rodgers and Hammerstein version)
Junjun and Linlin absolutely have to be an over-the-top comedy duo in this tho! I really hope they use the two girls and don't just have them in the background(like they were in most of their first MM concert)

So it is just Morning Musume in this one, without the other H!P artists? Well, that's going to limit the choice in characters. Before they had Yossi to play a male character and Miki to play the villain type, but they're not in momusu anymore. But Risa as the prince or something like that would be interesting! And I kinda see Reina as the Cinderella, she sings well enough for the part. Ai would work as the prince now too, in a way. What with her short hair and all.

All I can say is that I hope that Ai isn't the lead again. But, Sayumi would excel as the evil stepmother. Then Aika and Koharu could be the stepsisters. :rofl:

I'd like to see Eri as Cinderella. Ai would be a good choice, but in my ideal world I feel it would be unfair since she was the center of the last musical. Junjun should play the stepmother or a stepsister because she's evil like that XD

It was the musical people that chose the main parts, not UFA or anyone. So it will actually go to who is best suited for the part, including acting, singing and dancing in a professional way....in other words Ai is almost guaranteed a main part just because she is the most accomplished musume and she loves takarazuka and performing in this way so I think she kind of deserves it for that(remember that utaban/heyx3 a while back with their bags, she had a takarazuka magazine in her bag)

Absolutely interesting! However, two months before the actual musical starts? OK. Usually the tie-in pimps the single, then the single sells better (or is supposed to do so). Here the single will pimp the tie-in LOL I hope they sell out for play and it's not just a wota fest!

If Eri were Cinderella, that would be AMAZING. She'd make such a great cinderella.

I really hope it is based on audition. It's just more fair that way, even if Ai does still get the lead. But you never know... someone other than Ai in the lead would honestly be a pleasant surprise, if you ask me. Ai's talented, but even the best songs get old if you listen to them over and over again enough times.

It's the same with Athena & Robikerottsu. Chisa, Saki, and Aika had nothing to do with the show (as far as I know), and yet they sang the theme song for it.
I'm glad Captain, Ai, and Reina get to do something outside of their groups.

I don't see it as BEAUTY because, if it is real, it just means that Eri, Sayu, Koha, Aika, Junjun and Linlin are once again shafted, because if they have a special unit about the musical, I can assume that they would use the people that play important characters on the show for it. As I said, what I find weird is that if these girls would play a significant role on the play, they would be listed at least as part of the cast.
And singing the theme for an anime is not equal to sing a single from a musical. L'Arc~en~Ciel sang the theme from Full Metal Alchemist, and theyy were not doing anything in the show, just an example.

I feel your pain. I could seriously start getting angry over this. At this point, it's just annoying.

It is bittersweet, because yes, the other MM girls are getting shafted.... but I am happy for Captain and Yuuka. And Maimi does pretty well for herself. However, I'm worried this unit may turn out to be Takanaka + background considering the other girls aren't part of the musical. That to me is almost a waste.

I love Ai-chan's singing, plus she's hot, Reina's cute and sexy, Captain is adorable and deserves it, Maimi is beautiful and unique and even though i dunno Yuuka, glad to see H!P Eggs breaking out.
with that said, i do feel sorry ( and angry) for the other MM girls. they are part of the musical yet they are being treated like so. just hope they know that they're still loved.

Most people think Ai and Reina as the prince and cinderella which it probably will be (there's more of a chance of that). But I want something different. Risa as the prince and Eri as cinderella? :heart:

I meant vocally she's not the best. Cinderella has this pure, innocent voice where Takahashi has a super powerful voice. Who cares about the fans :lol: People will be upset regardless.
I think Reina'd have a very difficult time playing the girlish/innocent role of Ella (Julie Andrews~!). I'd much rather see her play someone else. Who, I don't know... Just someone not Ella.
Originally, I wanted Gaki as the Fairy Godmother, but now I think I want her as the oldest sister and have Sayumi be the younger, stupid one :lol:
But back to Ella, the only one I can see playing her well from the group would be Eri. Eri just has a similar air that I get from watching Julie Andrews. The only thing I'm not sure Eri could do well would be the soprano-ish range Ella's songs have.
If not the prince, I'd LOVE to see Takahashi be the Fairy Godmother.

Yeah Eri will really fit into the role well as she is a very very normal girl but yet has this air of elegance and slight mystery.
However her voice is also a suspect because you really need to sing very well. I hope they give her the role and train her well to own the character :D

I meant Aichan is in the closest soprano range to the "Ella Song" (if this musical is like others) than others (next is Reina and Eri)..... and Fans reactions (such as "wtf, Takahashi again ??") are also crucial to the success ........... less upset, more $$$$ .......
Eri can be Cinderella (actually my 1st choice), but her voice is not in range ...... yet ..... but I think she'll get pick if she's ready

I think Gaki would be a great Fairy Godmother, Takahashi fits the Prince role, Sayu is gonna be one badass hilarious stepsister, no doubt. For Cinderella, either Eri or Reina, but reina doesn't seem like the pushover type u know,.... Reina might play the Prince (Ai-chan) attendent, maybe...
But i wonder what Koharu, Mitsi, JunJun and LinLin will do....
I just wanna say, If for some odd reason, Koharu ends up being Cinderella, that just doesn't sound right.... no offense, i don't really hate her, but i don't think she fit the role of Cinderella, i'd be pissed if UFA pulls something like that...
Koha should be a wicked step sister, she fits that role like sayu does.
There gonna def. be some hilarious scenes with sayu-pink and koha-pink being evil stepsisters.

The Morning Musume and Takarazuka Revue version will be an adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (see Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinderella_(TV))).

It focuses on the palace a bit more than the Disney one does (you see the King and Queen+Prince more), there's no magically talking animals that help her, her fairy godmother is actually her godmother with fairy powers :lol:
Julie Andrews is the originally Cinderella for this version. It's really short. Like an hour or something. I watched the movie the other day :lol:

and the best versions always pay a good amount of attention to the king, queen prince
So Ai and Reina are likely to have leads judging from the single so my bet is one is the prince the other is Cinderella...I'm thinking Reina might be Cinders

I actually think Takahashi would make a good stepmother. I could see her being pretty wicked, actually. Same with Junjun, actually... but I really would like to see Jun/Lin stepsisters.

The godmother is actually her godmother in the musical, though, so she would have to be "older" and more mature... Koharu definitely doesn't fit that. I don't even think they could calm her down enough to do it :lol:

They've probably just recently auditioned for the musical, and probably the girls themselves will hear the cast list soon or perhaps they have recently. They're currently doing their tour still, so I doubt we'll hear who's who until late May or early June.

As much as I think Reina will be great as one of the step sisters, I think it's highly possible that she will get a more significant role. My guess is Ai will be prince and Reina Cinderella. Of course I would go crazy with joy if it were a TakaGaki pairing. Or KameMame for that matter, with Eri being Cinderella and Gaki-san the prince.

Although Ai plays an excellent role as a guy (or girl for that matter in a play) I think that it's only fair that she not be given a leading role as she was the lead in Ribon no Kishi. I also think that it would kind of be unfair is Reina was one of the leads as well since she and Ai have been taking the leads in a lot of recent songs. I think that Eri as Cinderella and Risa as the Prince would be amazing :wub: That's not only because I love GakiKame but also because they've been pushed into the background so they should get some more of the limelight. It would also give Eri some chance to be given the lead in something! She's never been the star of one of MM's songs! :banghead:

Wow this unit just got really exciting! According to this http://www.tsunku.net/comments.htm the members that were chosen for this group not only can sing very well but can dance exceptionally well. The beat and tune of the song is very "punching" which is why its not called High Queen but High King or something like that :P

Takahashi is the most recognized member in the current lineup, and she played the protagonist last time so they're not totally off track, but it's just careless.

Wooo I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was a little be worried because of the outfits I thought it was going to be something like 7 air but this sound is very new and fresh to H!P. Maimi's vocals really improved she sounded pretty good in this and I could hear Captain and Maeda here and there they needed more lines! that PV was fierce. It looks even better in HQ. The style really fits Reina. Maimi's dance was good even in the background. Captain's dancing was great, her other eye wasn't so wonky-looking this time <3, Taka touches herself too much (not that there's something wrong with that..), Yuukarin is adorable, looks like Nacchi/Airi/Momo (in that order).

I was watching the dance shot last night, and! Captain is totally owning that choreography... Notice at the end that her vest is about to come off and she might be fixing it a bit, but it totally looks like a part of the dance. I wouldn't have even noticed, but I saw a screencap earlier where I saw that her vest was a bit off so I knew to look for it :lol: In any case, so professional~~
Actually maybe I shouldn't talk about owning yet, because I only watched the PV so far concentrating on Captain, Maimi and Yuukarin (it was late ok, I'll watch for Aichan and Reina in a bit). Maimi's dancing is so different from Cap'n, because her limbs are so long and stuff :lol: But she also does a great job. Yuukarin to me is the weakest dancer, but that's ok cuz she's a n00b. (I'd be interested to see how Konatsu would do with this choreography, I don't know a lot about dancing but to me she seems like the best dancer among the Eggs)

XD @ the CHASE video. I've had the misfortune of seeing that video before with the original song, and I can tell you that replacing that song with Kioku no Meiro is a huge improvement. CHASE can't sing and their song was boring. I'm not surprised they only released one single.
Congrats to High-King on getting #6. I didn't expect it would be #6, but they definitely deserve it.

So what are all those roles then again... Since it's supposedly based on this version (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129672/), looks like Eri & Reina as step-sisters, Koha as captain of the guard (or maybe the steward), pandas as guards (maybe), but what are those green hippie faery uniforms Aika & Sayu are wearing? King's steward, chef, town crier, tailor... ponderi.
I bet there are some new and unique supporting roles. Wardrobe looks kinda lulz though.

The wigs are kinda funky. Especially the green and pink ones :P But overall I think this would be a good production. I can't wait!! I can't imagine how I will survive while waiting for the DVD to be released. It's still so far away :( Did I mention I'm super thrilled that this is TakaGaki? Ai + Risa = Win :muffin:

Being unfamiliar with the R&H version of Cinderella, what are the main big roles of this version? Obviously Cindy is the main role, but how big are the roles of say, the Prince and the stepsisters? I only know the Disney version, and well it's Disney :P

I've seen the version with Brandy in it. Yeah the Prince and the stepsisters are equally as big as Cindy. I haven't seen it for a while, so I don't remember it as well. ^^;

I've seen that same special with Brandy, along with an earlier TV version of it from the 60s. It's been a while since I've seen those but I remember that the songs were really catchy (even now I still remember some of them XD). I'm looking forward to hearing who the other cast members are.

About the high-king single.. is it just me or is this single recorded with a really low volume? Whenever the song comes along on my iPod I have to turn the volume up, because it's so much lower than all my other songs. Same with the video.. you really need to turn it up.

^Those are just a few that are named. Notice reina's not listed there and neither are junlin.
They're both working equally together with the takarazuka playing the older fairy.(one would assume)

I guess Takarazuka has/hired the same costume designer they had for Ribbon no Kishi because they are in exactly the same style. Compare the guard uniforms. XD I'm totally in love with Risa's hair, though.
And I couldn't imagine 35 performances. I'm used to like, week long runs and then it's over, haha.

I can't wait for this! Seeing segments from rehearsals makes me really excited to see the real thing. I think it's going to be really good. I wonder though how it will stand up against Ribbon no Kishi, which had Mikitty, Yossie, and Rika in it... which made it epic. But I love this version of Cinderella, so I feel really positive about it. :)

I think by choosing TakaGaki for Cindi and the Prince they made it a given for some people to like it regardless of everything else in it :P
I don't expect it to really match up to Ribbon no Kishi as they are so different... but I would like them to be even more improved with their acting now (excluding 8th gen of course), so that's what I will be looking out for :)

You know, the old musicals used to have pb releases. Morning Town and Love Century both had them. I don't know why they stopped doing it for RnK. I would definitely buy a pb with rehearsal pics of the Cinde musical regardless of whether it was purely Takagaki. I've been dreaming about a pb with just Takagaki for the longest time. I doubt it would really happen though. *sigh*

Maybe something about rights or also working with the Revue. The other musicals were purely H!P (yes?) and RnK and this are actually well produced with a real company. It seems they are treating them more like actual musicals/plays now, actually.
...Though that would be pretty cool.

OMG!!!!!!!! This thing would be awesome to own. I wished you won it, I know you're treat it well :) This is a pamphlet though and I actually meant a real, full-blown PB. Kinda like the document PB the kids concert had.

Tell me about it. I was getting so anxious waiting for the anouncement of the DVD. I'm so glad it will be released for pre-order (I think)on the 20th of August. It's still a long way off but at least now we're sure a DVD will be in the works. I hope it comes with a rehearsal DVD (loads of TakaGaki and KameMame moments please :P), something like the RnK one except without the graduation bit *prays*

It says on the CtM blog that the recordings will be on August 20. (link (http://blog.upf-web.com/cinderella_musical/?p=50)). It doesn't say anything about the release date yet.
But the good news is there will be a DVD release! Yay! :D

In 2002 I directed a "Cinderella" musical with a Cast of the Takaradzuka OG, this time I was a little worried about how to present it. I didn't know in such things like Morning Musume. I was especially worried about the male roles... But when we got into practicing, I realized that my worries were for naught... We had cute male roles theres. I felt like I was watching the way the Takaradzuka's started. There I felt the origin of the Takaradzuka was in family musicals so I felt we should aim for that. When we started the Takaradzuka and the Morning Musume melded together just like that, it felt like we all have our eye on the same thing. I feel that the Morning Musume have a magnificent energy. We're trying our best to take in that youth.
Takahashi Ai [Role of Cinderella]
We had co-starred with the Takaradzuka's in 2006's "Ribbon no Kishi the Musical" but, this time we all get to work together with several of the Takaradzuka OG so I'm really happy. As practice progresses there's a lot of things to learn. Until we start performing I'll continue doing my best to make this musical wonderful so please look forward to it.
Niigaki Risa [Role of the Prince]
This time, as the role of the prince, I have to act and walk the exact opposite of how I normally do things, and in addition to my posture and speech, I have to study various things like how I could boyishly lead Ai-chan in the role of Cinderella while in the midst of practice. I'm doing my best practicing so that I can be a cool Prince by the time we start performing so, I want everyone to be looking forward to it.
Kamei Eri [Role of Portia]
Portia is the younger of the older sister's who torment Cinderella but,
she's not only an egotistical sister, "if it's this kind of cute egotism I'll be heard," thinking that's how it is, I'll do my best now. After that for the singing part, it isn't just singing, I have to do my best so that the style of speech can be heard and I'm practicing my singing. Just like that I want you to notice it too.
Michishige Sayumi [Role of a fairy]
This time Sayumi plays the role of a fairy but I originally wanted to be a fairy so when I got the part I said, "Yosha~!" and did a victory pose. Also, a new challenge I have this time, I'm challenged with flying together with Mitsui Aika-chan who has the same fairy role. I like high places so I'm really looking forward to it. Please everyone look forward to it too.
Tanaka Reina [Role of Joy]
I'm in the role of Cinderella's tormenting older sister. When faced with this role, I want to play the role so that everyone who sees me thinks, "Is she really like that!?" I want people to notice my glare when I'm ordering Cinderella around (smile). I want to be able to really be the role, I want you to notice it.
Kusumi Koharu [Role of the Herald]
The role of the Herald is a male part but, Koharu's normal voice is high so when I let out the tone of a male voice, it sounds like anpanman (the character) (smile), so I want you to notice that. The herald is an accurate role so, I want to be able to perform that well.
Mitsui Aika [Role of a fairy]
My Manager asked me, "Are you ok with high places?" and when I responded, "It's fine, I want to fly~!" the next day my wish came true so I'm happy. With the same timing as Michishige-san, we whirl and spin and after this we're going to continue getting practice with that so I definitely want people to notice that. I'll do my best so please look forward to it.
JunJun [Role of a page]
It's my first time doing a musical so I'm really nervous but, I'm doing my best practicing my speech in Japanese and my songs as well. Everyone please give us your support.
LinLin [Role of a page]I'm really happy that I came to Japan and that I'm able to perform together with my Sempai and all the Takaradzukas. Playing a male role is a new challenge for me so I plan to do my best. Please look forward to it.
Asaji Saki [Role of the Queen Fairy (Fairy Godmother)]
In addition to the Morning Musume-chan's Challenges, for me this is my first experience playing a woman in a performance so I've also got the similar mark of a beginner and I will do my best. When where together in the practice hall and they're erupting with youthful energy, everyday is fresh. Everyone from Morning Musume are such sweet members that seems like they've come flying out from cartoons so, certainly I hope you will please come and watch.
Hikari Akemi [Role of the Queen]
Sakai-sensei said so some ago but, really mysteriously enough the Morning Musume had melded with us, that from the beginning I had wondered, "were they Takaradzuka students?" since everyone was practicing so harmoniously. We're practicing hoping that we can convey the importance of love between parents and children and married couples which is a contemporary issue in the world to the audience. Please kindly look forward to it.
Ebira Kaoru [Role of the King]
Continuing after "Ribbon no Kishi" Two years ago, I'm very grateful and happy to be working together with the Morning Musume this time as well. This time I will play the role of King as well, receiving the role of Risa-chan's father. Accompanied by the underclassmen who have left the Takaradzukas, to very end I want enjoyably perform. Please kindly look forward to it.

Looks like by the menu at least the DVD mag will be nice and interesting... I was wondering if we'd see somethig... if I remember right ribbon had that video of them all things i their tux-esque costumes and staring at the scene.
The little bits and pieces look good too! Wonder what people (both wota and people who went just to see it) think of the whole thing.

I went to tonight's show at 4pm. Sat Row 11 Seat 30's. On the left side of the venue.
I found the show to be quite enjoyable. After seeing MM live at concerts, this was a completely change of pace. I found it to be quite refreshing for me since I stopped following them religiously since last year. For all you Risa/Ai shippers, all I can say is rejoice. XD They really do make a cute couple. XD
Both Ai's and Risa's performance really amazed me. Musicals really show what Ai can do. She can sing, dance, and act. It really puts her ballet skills to use I found and her voice was pleasant to listen to. I hope she can do more musicals. Risa played the prince role well too, despite the tall platform boots she had to wear. Every time I saw those shoes I would start to snicker. lol It was really high and ridiculous, but she did have to be taller than Ai. XD She sang low for her parts and at times you can tell it was really forced, but overall she did a good job. Sayumi and Aika really had minor roles. I can't remember if they sang any lines that weren't part of the chorus. And I felt that Koharu is sometimes to "genki." lol She did her part ok, but just... hmm...can't quite place my finger on it. Jun Jun and Lin Lin managed to get one line each for the entire play.
The props they had for the stage was much better than what I thought it was going to be. They even had a carriage come down from the ceiling. That was pretty cool. And then all the floor moves in order to help move the props. That was pretty cool too. XD
Mini concert at the end was nice. Some of the wotas took out their glow sticks. All the songs were cut short. After they sang, Takarazuka also sang some songs. Overall, I enjoyed the play. If I could see it again, I would. New love for Ai, Risa, and Takarazuka. They are cool. :heart: I suggest any of you in Japan to check it out if you have time and the money. I'm glad to spent it. It was a fitting end for my time in Japan as my first concert was H!P. XD
Anyways, it's bed time for me. Nice long flight ahead of me tomorrow! Thanks for all the adventures these past 2 years, Japan! Until next time!

I dragged my husband to see it today. It was great! We were in the 30th row, but we brought binoculars, LOL.
Ai and Risa really did great. But of course the Takarazuka troupe are just pros, the dance numbers were really amazing.
Without binoculars, I could totally tell when JunJun and LinLin said their lines XD XD
and today Koharu seemed to flub a line. I didn't understand it, but my husband said she said something incomprehensible, and then the rest of the scene they were making fun of her XD I'll have to see the DVD for the real story. It was during the scene when they bring the glass shoe to the stepmother's house.
Yes, I'm pretty sure Aika and Sayu's line count was 0, slightly below JunJun/LinLin.
Koharu sang with such a deep and powerful voice I was surprised at first, but then I realized it's most likely Koharu/JunJun/LinLin singing.
The live was great, those red costumes, and the Takurazuka finale was great too! And what really amused me was how the wotas made up a "clap pattern" for their songs too. Wotas can be really polite sometimes! Even though they came to see Momusu they still show the love to the OGs. They did that at the Miki/Horiuchi Okitegami event too.
After the curtain call, the curtain came up one more time and Ai greeted the audience, thanking them for coming on such an important day (Obon) which got a laugh from the audience) and to be careful in the summer heat, etc. And then the curtain came up one last time and it was a little talk with LinLin, JunJun, and Koharu. LinLin told a story about a "jiken" (incident, which made the other members laugh) with her trumpet and how she accidentally hit herself in the nose with it during a performance, and then JunJun........oh, JunJun, she tried to explain something, but she totally got lost in translation....Aika stepped in and saved her with a "I think this is what our friend is trying to say" type thing. And through this for some reason Reina was just freaking out, LOL, it was hilarious watching her react. And then Koharu just talked about her manly voice and a little "I'm going to work hard!"
I was really happy to see JunJun speak though...but poor thing, I totally know how that feels to try and explain/tell a story in Japanese and not being understood. And then you try and backtrack and re-explain but it just gets more complicated and difficult. I really hope she doesn't take it too hard. And she was wearing a jacket for her costume during the live, I didn't see if she had a pain relief strip on her back.

Hmm... I felt that they both did a wonderful job. Reina definitely had the attitude to play the mean stepsister. She felt mean. Eri, on the other hand, was mean too, but she did it in such a cute way that it took a little mean-ness away. lol Maybe it was from all the other times seeing them that made me see it in that view, but... maybe ShoujoHino can add more. To sum up, they were awesome in singing and dancing. :) A nice supporting cast.

Ok. Here's a (not so quick) 1 2 on the final FINAL performance.
3rd row!!! HELLZ YEAH! Left side of stage BOO!... Thought it was gonna be shit but it soooooooooooo wasn't. Rocked up in my Risa t-shirt coupled with Risa and Ai wristbands. From where we were sat you could see where everyone one was looking, even if they were stood over the otherside of the stage. It was that close.
Koharu comes out in her first scene on stage *enter stage left* turns around to face the audience and say her line, looks right at me and gordie, stares at us for like 3 seconds kinda like 'OMG WTF Gaijin!!!' so funny...I lol'd. I don't think we got any further looks from her. She obvioulsy doesn't like foreigners :( Sayumi noticed us too in the same scene (it's 'The Prince is having a ball' scene me thinks) and I got a lot of looks from her for the rest of the Musical. I felt kind bad that I had none of her stuff...She has moved up in my rankings lately, not because of this. But that totally bumped her up even more. She did look at me a lot. Everytime she was over our side of the stage, and during the mini concert. You will never replace Gaki-san Sayumi...but you're fighting with Ai at the minute!!!
Everyone was having so much fun in the last performance. So much Ad Lib'ing as well. Lin Lin done an OskaraReina(sp) and Jun Jun did a Kame Hame Ha (when they went to Cinderella's house for the sisters to try on the glass slipper). When Cinderella's step mother was trying on the slipper, she was flirting like mad with Koharu LOL In the earlier performance she was sucking her finger suggestively, then touched Koharu on the cheek with it XD So Koharu rubbed her cheek and wipped it on Reina's arm I think. Reina was not happy!!! But in the final performance, she grabbed Koharu's face and pretended to kiss her. Koharu was all :O
Reina and Eri were pissing about so much in their scenes. Doing Dragon Ball moves at each other, compete with OTT reactions whilst sat at the table. Also when they had to argue at one point they had a mean stare out competition. The step mother was quite funny throughout the whole thing. At one point when the step mother and the stepsisters were ordering Cinderella about before they went to the ball, the step mother was being crazy. Ai had to put what they wanted in their hands. So she asked for her glasses (the ones they hold up to their eyes) and put her hand up as far as she could reach so Ai had to jump to get it in her hand :lol: Then she asked for her bouquet and she span around and around when Ai was trying to give it too her. I think she wanted Ai to run around with her, but Ai was deathly serious throughout the whole Musical, and just stood there and timed her thrust right. She managed to get it in her hand which was pretty good.
Like I said though. Ai was so serious throughout the whole thing. She didn't play any jokes on anyone and if they played them on her she didn't really laugh. Just tried to be so professional. Risa as well, Risa reacted to a few of the things thrown at her. But kinda brushed it off and carried on being princely. I remember the King hugging her at one point and the whole audience laughed and she was all WTF? smiled slightly then carried on as normal. Very serious.
During the second act Gaki was over our side of the stage at one point (she spent a lot of time at either side), emoting crazily about the person who the slipper belonged to and we had eye contact a few times. My heart was working overtime and I wanted to look away but forced myself not too. It was a serious stare as well because she was having some intese convo with the Queen :heart: That was when I started to fly to Gaki heaven. Something that happened later delivered the final blow...
Mini concert!!!
During one of the songs (I think The Peace) Risa came over our side and waved at us with a huge Gaki grin on her face, so we waved back. That was a huge ass highlight. Like WOAH!!! We were the only one's in the first maybe 8 rows our side wearing Gaki t-shirts so I know it was directed at us.
umm...Right at the end, when they were all saying their bits, like and MC. Jun Jun was the furthest MM member over our side, stood right in front of us, so I waved at her and she waved back :D
Gaki was the first to start crying at the end, followed by Ai. That was even before they started the MC. It was when they came out a few people at the time to get cheers from the crowd. Then surprisingly Jun Jun was crying quite a bit :cry: I wanted to hug her... They raised the curtain about 6 times because no one would leave the theatre XD Everytime Risa and Ai had to say something like 'Thanks for coming', and the last time I think they said something like 'for the final time, thank you for coming'. I decided to hear it as - 'Thanks for coming, now GTFO!'.
Most people stood in the theatre a good 15 minutes more after they closed the curtain for the final time, and they were all doing wota shouts. I tried to join in with a few which was cool. I don't know if MM could see through the cutain though, but because we were so close to the front we could see their feet under it, and they stayed there until the Ushers started to force us out. If they could see us then I'm really happy, because the people in the first two rows had left and I was there attempting to do wota shouts. I would be happy if that gave them a laugh. Especially my Oyasayumin shouts 'OYASAYUMIN *clapclap clapclap clap* (I think that's how the claps went).
Mistakes...umm...The Herald and Pages first scene (where Koharu looked at us), Jun Jun came out too early, trumpet in hand. Ai was still on the stage the other side and Jun Jun's looking off at Lin Lin and Koharu (who still aren't on stage) and had a look like 'fuck' on her face. I thought she was going to cry LOL. I don't think there was anything else. Because all the rest was ad lib's.
Oh Oh. I will say one other thing. To all the TakaGaki and GakiKame fans. I think Risa 'is da man'! During all her scenes with Ai she was holding her so tight when dancing, and when they hugged (after Ai tried on the slipper), she was hugging her really tightly. She actually stopped the hug briefly so she could pull her in a bit tighter. I was like :nosebleed: Also with Ai, I said this on H!O, everytime Risa had to take Ai's hand, she would run her fingers down her arm first, before holding her hand. Every freaking time!!! I thought I was gonna die of bloodloss.

Eri was stood my side of Risa and the whole time she was talking, Risa didn't take her eyes off of her. When al the other members were talking she would look away occasionally, or just didn't look at them at all. But her eyes were glued to Eri. Even when Eri bowed they followed her. That's love right?...I think it is...
Oh crap. This review was not planned so I may write something a lot better and blog about it. But I'm on a musical high. I've spent so much money on H!P / Risa goods these last 2 days it's crazy. I'm surprised the girls on the goods stand didn't ask for a H!P points card (yes there is such a thing) because I think I've been to the stall over 10 times. It has to be way more then that, more closer to 20 I think. No lie.
Well...I'm gonna end this review here. I need to shower because wota-ing at 2 performances in a row is sweaty work. And I want to go and eat and get drunk!!!

Wah~ I just remember a Koharu prank (because I was writing about the 'glass' slipper over at H!O)
In the show Koharu would put the slipper on a wooden block so people could try it on. During the final, when she was at Cinderella's house, she put it on the block properly for Eri to try on, then Eri's part is to go like 'yay it fits!' then fall of the block. So Koharu retrieves the shoe and puts it on the block for Reina to try on. But she put it on there on it's side XD Reina was telling her off and she picked it up and put it back down again...on it's side!!! Eventually she sorted it out but everyone was wetting themselves laughing.
Another step mother thing I remember too was also in this scene. When Koharu and co. go to Cinderella's house with the slipper, most of the villagers go with them, in to the house as well. When the Fairy Godmother comes and tells Koharu about Cinderella, Koharu and co. rush out of the house, followed by the villagers. In the final performance the step mother ran after them, grabbed the old ladies walking stick and started 'beating' her and chased her out the house. Then was all proud of herself, spinning the stick round lol.
I don't know the name of the actress who played the step mother, but the Wota's had a lot of love for her. I think the cheers for her were louder then for some members of MM!!!
Also...this is a really lame comment now. But I know of the story of Cinderella as I was probably read it when I was a kid. But I only know the basic concept. I've not seen any of the screen adaptions or the Disney version so this is totally all new to me. So...I didn't realise that the Prince's name was Christopher *facepalm* Was kinda funny hearing Gaki being called Christopher (or sometimes Chris) by the King and Queen.
Also, I'm pretty darn sure Koharu's characters name was Franz. Is that in the original story or did they bring it over from RnK?

LOL. Eri was stood to the right of Risa (her right) and Ai was stood to her left. So I could see Eri, more than I could see Ai.
When I say Risa didn't take her eyes off of her, I whole heartidly mean it. She was staring at her face intently the WHOLE time Eri was doing her MC. Including, like I said, when Eri bowed. Plus, she wasn't just looking, she was staring, the expression on her face was totally different then when she looks at other people... Just thinking about it again is making me totally hot. If Eri ended up looking at her the same way, I would've thought they were gonna jump each other at any minute (or as soon as they got offstage)...
I'm all for both TakaGaki and GakiKame (and possibly a threesome :twisted:). But with Ai being so uptight and stuffy throughout both perfomances and mini live's. I totally prefer GakiKame at this present moment in time.

Koharu comes out in her first scene on stage *enter stage left* turns around to face the audience and say her line, looks right at me and gordie, stares at us for like 3 seconds kinda like 'OMG WTF Gaijin!!!' so funny...I lol'd. I don't think we got any further looks from her. She obvioulsy doesn't like foreigners :(
I think it's more that she was surprised to see gaijin in the audience, not because she doesn't like them. It seems she got over it fast though.

Just watched the whole thing, major props for the subbing, Dan. Also kudos for not going for any coloured fonts or stuff like that. Good subs are the ones that you won't even notice while watching.
It was a fun show, everyone did good, no-one annoyed the shit out of me! Aichan looked fucking fantastic. Only bummer was that there was no kissing! C'mon, girls!

LOL I was going to say that. Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote a lot of famous musicals, but after the initial idea they seem to get lazy writing the actual musical.
