Chapter 25: Everything Comes At A Cost; Even If You Didn't Expect It
Yuki’s POV
“I suggest you don’t hurt me Kashiwagi-kun, if you don’t want to see her hurt more.”
“I-It hurts…”
“Mayu! Please don’t die on me now. Please!”
“Y-Yuki, promise me, you’ll move on… If I die…”
“No! Mayu!”
“J-Just p-promise m-me!”
“Mayu… I love you...” I kissed Mayu’s lips passionately before she lost consciousness in my arms, her body becoming lifeless and cold.
“Mayu… I’ll avenge your death, no matter what the cost!” I thought, clenching my hands tightly.
“Oh, what’s the matter, Kashiwagi-kun? Emotionally heart-stricken?”
“You… you’re going to pay!”
I felt like I’ve lost all control and I screamed. I ran up to shoot her, but then she release Yagi and she tackled me, growling and foaming.
“You aren’t getting away from me, Messi!!!”
I kept shooting blindly, anger completely taking me over. She just smiled sadistically.
“Perfect~”
“Respect.”
I aimed the gun and shot Yagi’s chest. Then I pushed her off and shot at Messi, hitting her right in the center of her head.
“I’ll see you in Hell...” I said as she collapsed.
Later that day…
I looked and saw both Mayu and Yagi sitting in the hospital room. Mayu was in more support than I’ve ever seen her before.
“We were able to cleanse Nagao-san’s blood of the drug chemicals. She should be okay when she wakes up.”
“What about Mayu… Is she…?”
“She’s in a coma. There’s no way of knowing when she’ll wake up.”
I tried to hold back my tears and took a deep breath. “Okay… Thanks, Nana.”
I left the room and saw everyone gathered around someone.
Jun’s POV
“Who are you? Why are you here?” I said to the young girl standing in front of us.
“Gomen, Jun-kun. I guess this means you aren’t Nobunaga. Makes sense. He died years ago.”
I grabbed her collar and pulled her up.
“I’m asking again, who ARE you?!”
“Shimazaki Haruka, or most suitably know as, Paru.”
“Paru. Why are you here? I thought you were a Major.”
“Please, I left that life a LONG time ago.”
“Welcome back Haruka.” I heard Yuki in the distance.
“Thanks, Yukirin~”
“Man, I thought I asked everyone to stop calling me that ages ago!”
“Mou, Yuki-kun~” Miyuki chimed in to the conversation. “How’s Mayu by the way, I heard she got stabbed in the heart by that crazy woman.”
“She….”
“Black?”
He lowered his head while biting his lip. “She’s… in a coma.”
“Oh my God...”
“I’m so sorry, Yuki-kun.”
“You gonna be okay?”
He nodded weakly, but it was easy to tell he was lying.
“So, why did you come here in the first place, Paru?”
“It’s about your friend, Maeda Atsuko.”
“Acchan?!”
“Yes.”
“What about her?”
“Her and her boyfriend, Kai. They’re being controlled.”
“What?!”
“The person who killed Yuki’s parents, he placed a mind control chip in both of them. They’re currently being controlled by a new Master, but I don’t know who.”
“How do you know all this?”
“I was a spy.”
“So, this new Master… What’s he planning?”
“I remember when Messi sent the message to us, she said she was the Einstein of ‘New’ Tokyo. What did that mean?”
“She’s wanting to sink Japan into the Rapture, and create New Tokyo for her monsters to rule and take over the world.”
“So you think he’s in some relation to Messi?”
“Probably.”
“Alright, people, we know what we’re doing next. We need to find the Master and stop him.”
“Paru, since you know the most about the Major headquarters, you’ll have to take Mayu’s place in the team until she wakes up.”
“Aye aye, sir!”
Paru’s POV
That night, I went up to the roof and looked at the sky alone. I heard someone’s footsteps echoing as Yuisuke came and sat behind me
“So, you finally came back, huh?”
“It’s been a while, Yui-kun...”
“How were things like up there? Everything you expected? I bet it was a whole lot better than this.”
“You know that’s not true...”
“I can see that you’re lying.”
“Eh? I’m not, Yui-kun~”
“I remember when I first met Yuki and the gang~ It was pretty serious at first, but when I got to know the guys~ It felt pretty fun.”
“Nothing about this is fun, Yui-kun.”
“I know...” He looked at me and hugged me tight. “Gomen, Paruru...”
“Do you still regret everything? About us breaking up?”
“Of course I do. I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
“Really?”
“I didn’t want the most important girl in my life becoming like those Majors.” Then, he kissed my forehead. “I hope we can just start over.”
“Maybe...” I smiled sadly. “But not now, Yui-kun… I don’t think I’m ready yet. I wanna wait, just a little longer.”
“Okay, I understand.”
Yuki’s POV
I turned back to the room Mayu was in and I still felt emptiness inside me… Nobody knows when she’s going to wake up and I’m worried I may never be able to hold her again.
“Mayu…”
“Yuki, you need a rest, come on~”
“Sorry, Sayu, but not when Mayu’s like this…”
“Yuki…”
“I’m staying here until she wakes up!”
“Please, Yuki.”
“Wait, Sayu. Ugh~”
The last thing I felt was the hard ground making contact with my body…..
