This is a thread for

2007 Ice Hockey IIHF World Championship in Moscow, Russia!

NHL playoffs are going at the same time, but World Championship is worth a thread as well... Eventhough the brightest stars are still playing in NHL or didn't bother to come to play in Moscow

Good starts for Finland and Russia against the minor teams... Canada has had tougher with Germany and Norway.

Darn, I think I fail at Finn! I haven't watched a single full game yet.

Well, I guess the games so far have been irrelevant slaughters, but Finland-Russia is today, first real match. Let's see what happens!

Some quietness in this thread I see. But the real games are about start now!

It's gonna be Finland - USA quarterfinal on thursday. I'm afraid that finns gonna lose it for good. We didn't win any of the real teams... and the team just sucks so badly. Backbone is already broken and the finnish mentality just sucks. After 0-1 loss to Sweden everyone was just happy and told how good they played and blablabla... total shit. If you don't win, your play sucks. And the players suck.

And the player who sucks most, Kari Lehtonen, is going to start on thursday. And USA got Parise from Devils...

We've lost this game!

Man, FIN-USA 2nd period just ended and it's 4-3 for Finland.

CRAZY game. Finns look like a bunch of drunks on ice at times and then suddenly pull these crazy cool goals. Defence of both teams is pretty damn shitty, but USA has a slight upper hand. They keep taking more penalties though.

Crrrazy. 7 goals already. Let's see how this ends. Here's hoping for a future Fin-Rus rematch. -3-

What a game that FIN - USA was! Too bad I missed my classes again because of watching ice hockey all night.

Russia would be tough... I hope finns find a way to win them. At least defense can't be at the level it was in a US game.

Finland-Russia 2-1 !!!

Exciting game where Russians had a better offence, and overall better control, but Finland's phenomenal goalie Lehtonen saved ze Finns from defeat. The game started with some ugly penalties and chaotic play, but both teams managed to score, Russia on powerplay and Finland stole one sneaky short handed goal. Action was plentiful, but no goals were made after the first period until at the sudden death extra time Mikko Koivu scored.

The favorite to win the tournament, the impressive Russian Red Machine has been defeated. *huggles aedon* :3

Now, Canucks, do your part and we'll have a great final. I do not, I repeat, I do not want to see another Finland-Sweden final. Fin-Swe games are death, misery and destruction. They make Baby Jesus cry. :-(

I don't follow hockey too much but my friend does so I hear about what's going on. And last night on the Eurovision Song Contest the guy doing the votes from Finland had a dig at the Russians. I can't remember exactly what he said but he did it so calmly it was beautiful.
