I wouldn't say NEO are out of it yet. There might be some outside "interference" of the results from the record labels. (*cough*5th gen audition*cough*).
I've been to both groups events and although the main group had the most people for the handshake events, NEO had the loudest cheer while they performed yesterday.

Yes, they sang live but I noticed some members had backup tracks while they sang (Rukapyon, Rena and Michaela). All of them have potential to be strong singers given time. I was surprised with Furuhashi since she sounded the best out of all of them, even better than Sekiya.
Their coupling song (Muneatsu Seitansai) is very good. Reminded me of Momoiro Clover.
