Coincidence (AtsuMina fanfic) - COMPLETED
« Reply #25 on: July 16, 2015, 12:44:57 PM »
School... :err:
Anyway, here's a high-school AU One-shot.
Thanks for reading, and sorry if it sucks
Will be continuing this when I have the time

Coincidence

AKB High's campus was decorated by a faint orange glow reflected by the afternoon sky.

Atsuko Maeda's eyebrows furrowed together in annoyance as she was forced to watch some sort of reunion between a few of her schoolmates and some guy wearing a different uniform.

Atsuko was trying to read a book in silence, but instead, there she was, glaring at the already noisy bunch who looked as if they hadn't seen each other in forever.

Finally fed up with all the noise and disturbance, she grabbed her book, stood up, and walked the direction opposite the group.

She sat on the farthest bench, where she was guaranteed sheer peace and silence.

She opened her book and flipped a few pages, trying to find the part where she stopped.

After what seemed to be five minutes of intense reading, she felt her seat shift.

Her eyes involuntarily darted to the side and back to her book, catching the quickest glance of light brown hair that blended ever so well with the color of the sunset.

A few minutes passed, and words were yet to be uttered.

For a second, Atsuko thought that the intruder of her personal space was but a figment of her wild imagination.

But she was wrong.

"Hey," a slightly deep yet somehow frail voice spoke out of the blue.

Atsuko ignored it.

"I saw a cat near a convenience store yesterday," the voice continued, "so I went inside the store and bought some cat food for it."

Atsuko kept reading, picking up the pace of the events in her book, and before she knew it, she was flipping two pages per minute.

"Then this old lady with a dog walked over to our direction, and d'you know what the dog did?"

Atsuko's eyes widened at a sudden plot twist in her book, still ignoring the person talking beside her.

"The dog ate the freaking cat food!"

She rolled her eyes as a fit of giggles escaped the person opposite her.

The senseless talking was fine with her, but disruptive laughter?

A big no.

"Hey--" she tried to voice out, but her soft voice went out as merely a whisper compared to the person's--who she now confirms as a girl after looking at her--continuous laugh.

She was about to speak again, when the girl recovered from her fit, wheezing a little bit.

"You know, you don't speak much, do you?" she smiles, "It's okay. I like quiet people."

Atsuko's manic thoughts about this girl softened from smashing her head against the wall, to pushing her off a small set of stairs.

"My name's Minami, by the way. I'll see you around, I guess?"

With that, Minami stood up and walked away.

Atsuko was left to stare at the distance, confused.

She shook it off and looked back down at her book.

Coincidentally, the page she was on was the start of a new chapter entitled 'The Beginning'.

Ahaha, anyway, thanks for reading.  :byebye:

☆☆☆

The lunch bell rang.

Students swarmed around the exit of every classroom; circles of friends bundled up together to eat lunch.

Atsuko walked silently towards her usual sunlit spot near the school cafeteria.

It was a small table, fit for two to three people. Not many students occupied it because the friends they ate with were too many in number, thus, allowing Atsuko to make herself another sanctuary.

To distract her from the irritating noise her busy classmates were making, she slipped on a pair of earphones that's connected to her iPod that was conveniently in her pocket, playing some of her favorite songs from her favorite idol groups as she happily ate her packed lunch.

She felt a soft clunk on the table.

Her eyes instinctively gazed upwards to look at the new arrival.

She took off her earphones to furtherly comprehend what the other girl was saying.

"You look cute like that," Minami grinned.

Atsuko realized that her spoon was still in her mouth despite having its contents already ingested, and that she was holding the spoon's handle while looking up at Minami innocently.

She was quite the sight.

She hurriedly took the spoon off of her mouth and averted her eyes embarrassedly.

Minami laughed.

It's been a week since their so-called 'fated encounter', and Minami has been bothering Atsuko ever since.

Well, she wasn't really bothering her. She didn't mean to, at least.

For some reason, the midget president of the student council was intrigued by the unusual loner, Atsuko Maeda.

"...but I didn't answer anything correctly. So I didn't win that vaccuum cleaner that I really needed."

Atsuko couldn't help but nod at Minami's interesting trivial stories.

Before long, both their meals were finished.

"Well," Minami said, standing up and softly slamming her palms against the table, startling Atsuko, "I'd best be going. See you, Maeda."

Atsuko's eyes followed the midget until she was lost in the crowd of high-schoolers.

She shook her head and slipped one of her earphones to her ear to make sure that her iPod was turned off.

It wasn't.

SKE48's Kataomoi Finally was playing, and yet another coincidence greeted her.

「春の陽射しのカフェテリア 偶然 同じテーブルで ハートが固まったように 言葉を交わせなかった 僕だった」

"The sunlight of spring's cafeteria. Coincidentally, we were on the same table. As if my heart was frozen, I wasn't able to speak."

Atsuko groaned.

Eyyoo~! Update! This is uh... the second to the last part. It's short, I know.  :hiakhiakhiak:
If anyone waited for this, thank you. A lot.  :kneelbow:

☆☆☆

Atsuko was the first student to enter AKB High one school day, at the early hour of 6 AM.

The corridors and classrooms were dark and desolate, casting a feel of eeriness.

Although the feeling of loneliness didn't bother Atsuko that much, the girl couldn't help but crave for someone.

A special someone, to be exact.

She decided to drop her things off by her classroom and get some fresh air by the veranda.

She stretched and yawned, feeling the cold breeze of Autumn graze her skin.

Atsuko watched the sky as it became a gradient of pale blue to light orange.

She smiled when the warm sun greeted her, squinting her eyes a bit at the sudden presence of the ball of light.

"Beautiful, ain't it?"

Minami voiced from out of the blue, appearing from the veranda of the classroom opposite Atsuko's.

Atsuko, knowing Minami for a month or so already, wasn't surprised.

She didn't bother asking how or why she got there that early, just happy that her presence was near hers.

"Yeah, it is," she replied.

Though the younger girl didn't want to admit it, Minami had grown on Atsuko.

Atsuko didn't see Minami as the annoying little brat anymore unlike how she did the first time they met.

The Minami she's able to see now is that beautiful thing that's watching the sunset with a goofy smile forming on her face.

The beautiful thing whose light brown hair turned golden by the guide of sunlight.

It wasn't long before Atsuko realized that she had been staring at Minami for a few awkward seconds.

Fortunately, Minami was still focused at the sky.

Atsuko shook her head to somehow get some control of her thoughts.

She looked up.

As if the sky read the atmosphere, by coincidence, a heart-shaped cloud was floating over them.

Final update~! This was released later than expected, so, sorry about that, ehehehe.
Shocking news ( Mocchi's Graduation Announcement ) greeted me so I was in a state of shock for a few days.
Anyway, thank you for your patience, and thank you if you made it this far into the story. It isn't really far, though, but anyhow, thanks. :kneelbow:

☆☆☆

15 minutes before the new year.

Atsuko gripped the school rooftop's cold railings with glove-clad hands, her breath becoming visible in the cold Winter air.

"I'm back," Minami hummed, voice a bit muffled due to the oversized scarf wrapped around her neck that reached up to the tip of her nose.

She had two Starbucks cappucinos in her hands, handing one of them to Atsuko.

The other girl mumbled a phrase of gratitude.

The two of them began drinking the warm beverage, exchanging topics and laughing as early fireworks were set off, illuminating the sky.

"Are you really sure your parents agreed on you spending time with me at this time of hour?" Minami asked, "And it's new year's eve, too."

Atsuko nodded, "They trust you."

After spending almost everyday for half a year together, Atsuko finally, much to Minami's joy, opened up to her short friend.

"Just making sure," said Minami after a sip of her cappucino that was starting to get cold.

Atsuko crossed her arms and rested them on the railings as she gazed down on the sea of lights and people from the festival below them.

She loved these kinds of sceneries, and Minami did too.

Minami sneezed. A couple of times.

Atsuko smiled.

She always found the way she sneezed adorable.

After a few minutes of silence, she felt something cold graze her cheek.

She dismissed it, thinking of it as a figment of her imagination.

Just then, something white fluttered near the corner of her eye.

She turned to Minami to see if she saw it too, but there it was.

A pure white snowflake fluttered along the wind and landed on Minami's nose.

The short girl herself didn't notice this until Atsuko burst into laughter.

"H-Hey, what's so funny?"

Atsuko covered her mouth to suppress her fit.

"Hey!" Minami drew her lips into a pout.

Atsuko wasn't answering her. Just laughing.

More snowflakes soon followed, falling slowly.

Atsuko walked closer to Minami and crouched, leveling her head with the other's.

Around that time, the countdown to the new year begun.

"10!"

Atsuko leaned in closer, Minami blushing at such close proximity.

"9!"

With a small puff of air from Atsuko, the snowflake on Minami's nose fell off.

"8!"

"Snowflake," Atsuko grinned.

"7!"

Minami turned so red, it'd bring shame to that AKB48 member's tomato costume in Yasai Sisters.

"6!"

The redness, Atsuko knew, reached up to the short girl's ears, and the thought itself made Atsuko feel warm and fuzzy inside.

"5!"

A bunch of snowflakes settled themselves in Atsuko's hair, making her beauty more radiant in Minami's eyes.

"4!"

As the snowflakes furtherly decorated their bodies, the two lost themselves in scanning each other's features.

"3!"

Minami had yet to realize that she was leaning in dangerously closely towards Atsuko.

"2!"

Atsuko did what her instincts told her. She closed her eyes.

"1!"

Fireworks lit up the sky, signifying the start of a new year while two shadows melted into one above the rooftop.

The ethereal glow that the fireworks gave only added up to the romantic scenery.

Though everything around her became irritatingly noisy, Atsuko didn't bother complaining, because under the night sky when the stars are forgotten and replaced by brilliant fire flowers, she realized that she had feelings for her friend.

And coincidentally, Minami did too.

Farewell (WMatsui OS) - COMPLETED
« Reply #39 on: August 13, 2015, 10:13:35 AM »
Still trying to polish my writing skills...
Renahyon's graduation is getting nearer...  :err: :fainted: :depressed:
Oh and by the way, I based this on 'Manazashi Sayonara', if anyone cared to know XD

Farewell

Jurina and Rena were walking along a street in a small silent town during the night.
They were going home from the theater together, as usual.
Jurina was holding Rena's hand and happily humming to herself as she skipped along.

"Jurina," called Rena, halting herself in her tracks, "Can you stop for a minute?"
Jurina obliged and turned around, "What's up?"

Rena bit her lip and shuffled her feet nervously.
She couldn't gather the courage to say it.
To say those too few words that carried too many feelings.
But she had to.

"I'm graduating."

For a second, the world came to a stop.
Neither moved for the next few seconds.
Jurina blinked, staring into the other girl's eyes as if they were unfamiliar.

She squeezed on Rena's hand for some sign of comfort.

"You're joking, right?"

Jurina wanted to believe she was joking.
But the serious and crestfallen look on Rena's face told her otherwise.

"Is this one of your tricks again? I told you I didn't like these kinds of humor!" Jurina was practically whining.

Rena stayed silent, unable muster any strength or willpower to utter anything else.

"Answer me..."

She didn't reply.
The feel of realization came crashing down on her.
Rena really wasn't joking.
Jurina released the hand she held as they reached for her own head, softly tugging at her hair as if it would drive her off of the reality she was currently facing.

No words left the both of them.

Small droplets of rain made their way from the sky to their figures, staining their clothes.

The silence was completely peaceful, but in both minds, there was war.

"I'm announcing it in public tomorrow night," Rena finally managed to say, "I'm sorry."

She wanted to leave.
To disappear before a single tear left Jurina's eyes.
If she were to see her cry, she knew she'd have second thoughts.

But she couldn't leave the young Matsui alone, crying.
In the rain, even.

Speaking of the rain, it was already pouring hard.
They were both drenched in rainwater.
Although neither minded a bit.

The colour of the town faded away into monochrome in Rena's eyes, as the only color-filled being she focused on was Jurina.

She reached her hand for the girl's face, wiping away the hot tears that differed from the cold raindrops.

Jurina leaned her cheek against the palm of Rena's hand, sobbing silently.

The planet she stood on was cruel enough to continue rotating, despite the fact that Jurina wanted it to stop.

Memories of them flashed quickly in her eyes, causing her to break down even more.

She still vividly remembers the first time they met.
The way their eyes lit up when they found out they shared the same surname.
The way they laughed together, along with the way they cried.

Rena could only embrace her as her own way of apologizing.

Although the two were pretty much broken, a close friend of theirs can say that they never looked any closer than they were on that night.
