Rosie MacLennan has captured Canada's first gold medal of the 2012 Olympic Games,  winning the women’s trampoline competition on Saturday.

But her dear friend and teammate Karen Cockburn finished just off the podium in fourth.

MacLennan of King City, Ont., beat 2008 defending Olympic gold medalist He Wenna of China, who appeared to be well on her way to repeating until she tumbled at the end of her routine and wound up with bronze behind her teammate Shanshan Huang, who took silver.

Okay, so I've seen photos of the big blue field that they're using for women's field hockey during these games (currently watching the Japan VS China match), but watching and seeing it on TV during an actual game ? WOW that's just hard on the eyes.

One of the nicest moments of this Olympics.....Japan womens table tennis team versus a very good Singapore team....The team that wins this match is guaranteed to win a medal..............(although China will go on to defeat Japan for the gold, the team silver medal was a huge success for Japan. Singapore went on to win the bronze).......
Japanese team is made up of Ai Fukuhara, who has been famous since being a child prodigy in Japan, but as a teenager, she moved to China to play in the table tennis league there to improve her game. A very good speaker of Chinese, she has been a great example of people to people diplomacy. Ai, now 23 years old, plays singles as does Kasumi Ishikawa (19). Ishikawa teams up with Sayaka Hirano (27) for doubles.

Congratulations China, Japan, and Singapore!

Ai Fukuhara, Kasumi Ishikawa, & Sayaka Hirano

As of this posting, not long before the Japan USA match in women's football at the Olympics?

Will Japan's special coaching team help them win the Gold?

It seems that despite the badminton controversy, China is still getting medals left and right.  Yeah, table tennis is like half the reason they have as many medals as they do.  I'm just hoping the U.S. can keep it really close at least.  I'd hate to see China just run away in the medal count.

^ I haven't come across medal counts based only on the gold, but either way, yes, China is second in medal count, including golds if you break it down like that.

I'm enjoying the power walking.   Can't wait to watch basketball final tomorrow.

I was glad to see the Basketball Gold medal game be somewhat of a game as opposed to previous one sided beatings.
