I'm really sorry it took me almost 2 months. I sort of gotten lazy and had an almost endless battle with procrastination. I managed to finally finish chapter 7. Here you go.
Chapter 7 Smelling the delicious scent from the kitchen, Riku's poor stomach growled louder. It's almost 11 o'clock yet he hasn't eaten his breakfast since he and Yuko planned to eat together in his place today. Yuko suggested she will cook for him for a change and Riku gladly agreed. Eating lunch with Yuko at school, Riku occasionally ask some bits of Yuko's lunch and each bite he gets was always excellent.
“When will she finish? I'm so hungry.” Riku lazily rolled back on his couch. Gathering all the energy he has he shouted for his fake girlfriend's name. “Yuu-chan!”
“10 minutes more!” Yuko responded from the kitchen.
“10.... I don't think I can still last that long... I'm so hungry. Yuu-chan..” Riku murmured to himself. He usually prepares his lunch around this time. Riku always wake up very early to do his weekend jogging. Today he did his exercise without any food greeting him as he finished and he is totally famished as of the moment. His situation didn't get any better that Yuko woke up late thus, she started cooking quite late.
Riku decided to rise up from his couch and went to Yuko. His hunger was already making his head dizzy. Arriving to his destination, he hugged Yuko from her back with his chin resting on Yuko's head.
“Riku?”
“I'm so hungry.....” Riku said weakly.
“I'm sorry but you still need to wait more. Why don't you sit or lay down for a while?” Yuko suggested as she kept on stirring the nikujaga (I know it’s too early to eat such dish but whatever
) she's making.
“Hmm... Nah, I started to feel a little better when I hugged you. I'll hold you like this until you finish cooking.” Riku said with his eyes closed as he inhaled Yuko's sweet scent.
“Okay, but you need to let go when I need to get something.” Yuko said while Riku only gave a small “Mmm.”
“Smells nice.” Riku muttered.
“I know right. I'm getting hungry because of the smell too.” With Yuko's response Riku can't help but chuckle. Yuko pushed Riku a little but not enough to loosen Riku's hold on her and turned around to face him. “What's so funny?”
“Silly, I was talking about you.” Seeing Yuko's flustered face Riku can't help but chuckle more.
“Wh-what!? You're sniffing on me!?” Due to Yuko's embarrassment she unconsciously brought with her the ladle she was using and pointed it to Riku. With the ladle freshly taken out from the stack pot, the hot saucy soup from the nikujaga was spilled on Riku's shirt.
“Ow! Hot! Hot! Ow! Ow!” Riku immediately released Yuko and jumped from the burning sensation.
“Oh my gosh! Riku I'm so sorry. Ah! First aid! You need first aid! Water! Water!” Yuko panicky dragged Riku towards sink and wet the supposedly dish towel. Feeling that the towel is wet enough Yuko motioned to caress the wet towel on Riku's bare chest.
‘What was that!? Riku's bare chest!?’It seems that while Yuko was wetting the towel Riku took off his shirt and our heroine here just realized that her fake boyfriend is currently half naked in front of her.
Yuko froze from her position with her mouth gaping seeing Riku's somewhat muscular body.
“Yuu-chan the pain is not there.” Riku said and guided Yuko's hand to where the pain was letting the towel along with Yuko's hand stay on him quite long. Unknown to Riku, who was very concerned with his minor burn, Yuko has been staring at his bare upper body for quite a while.
‘He's still 17. How come it looks like he has abs? And his upper arm is quite muscular too. Is it possible for a guy to have such in this age? I-I want to to-touch it BARE! The towel.. Should I purposely slip it or not? Don't miss this chance Yuko! But wait, I don't want to be a pervert in front of him!’ Yuko dizzily thought. To Yuko's dismay the towel has already finished its work and eased the pain for Riku.
“Thanks Yuu-chan. I'll go and change my shirt.” Riku lazily brought the towel with him leaving a sighing Yuko.
“........ I missed... The chance....” Yuko fell from her knees with the disappointment crumbling her down. “Damnit.”
*After 15 minutes*“Itadakimasu.” The fake couple said in unison but in different tones. The guy was obviously excited to taste the meal and not to mention he is starving to death while the other girl said it with no spirit not yet getting over to the missed chance to touch Riku's muscles barely.
“Uwah! This is so delicious! You're really good at cooking Yuu-chan.” Riku praised the girl but was still unaware of Yuko's depressed aura. The food took all his attention.
“Thanks.” Yuko stared at Riku, who was eating his meal very fast, and slowly Yuko's spirit was lifted. Seeing her crush eating her homemade meal actively made her happy.
“Seconds please!” Riku handed his plate to Yuko who was sitting in front of him.
“Riku, the rice and the nikujaga is just in front of us.” Yuko eyed the dish she had placed in the middle of the table.
“I know but I want you to put the food on my plate.”
“I don't really understand but okay..” Yuko almost muttered and took Riku plate filling it with second helping.
“Thanks.” As soon as the full plate was back at Riku, he immediately empties the plate. “Another seconds please.”
“That was fast. Are you that hungry?” Riku ignored Yuko and continued eating. Once Riku's plate was empty he gave it to Yuko once again.
“Sorry, we ran out of rice.”
“What!!?” Riku drastically said like it's the end of the world.
“I'm sorry. I didn't know you eat this much since your bento is always only around 1 1/2 cup of rice so I only cooked enough for us...”
“Huuu...” Riku sulked in his place with the info Yuko said.
“I'll make more rice.” Yuko said but Riku ignored her and started playing with his spoon and fork.
“Riku I will cook more rice so don't ignore me here.”
“..........” Riku continued to ignore Yuko.
“Okay, what do you want?”
“...........”
“Riku stop being childish.” Instead of Riku stopping at his act he just pouted and made a sadder face which Yuko can't resist anymore.
‘Hnnngh! You're lucky that you're handsome and cute at the same time.’“What do you want me to do? I'll do anything.” With that joy was brought back at Riku's face.
“Anything?!” Yuko sweat dropped from Riku's sudden enthusiasm.
“I take it back.”
“Wha-...” Riku went back to sulking.
Yuko sighed for giving up. She doesn't totally get why Riku suddenly started to act like a kid but she definitely doesn't like it when Riku is sad. “Fine. I won't take
back my words anymore. Tell me what you want and I'll grant it.”
In a split of second, the childish Riku disappeared and was replaced by his handsome normal serious face. ‘There is the Riku I knew. I hope what he asks is not something bizarre.’ Yuko could only hope for Riku's request to be something safe for her.
“You're free the whole day right? Then accompany me here today.” Riku said.
“We're not going out? Just here?” Yuko had to make sure she won't be near those shops Riku usually drag her to. Somehow she can't help but to be nervous again because she will stay a little longer than planned at Riku's place. She was nervous enough cooking for Riku at his place alone with him.
‘A lot of things could happen between a boy and a girl when they're alone.... As if. This is Riku. He doesn't think of me that way.’ Yuko dejected.
“Yeah, just here. Or do you want to go out?”
“No, I'm not in the mood to walk around.”
“Great. I bought movies some time ago and I haven't watch them yet.”
“That sounds good. Let's watch it.” Yuko smiled in relief that they are just going to watch a movie.
“You go ahead to the living room while I wash the plates.” Riku smiled and was completely back to normal.
‘Was the childish Riku I saw a while ago an illusion?’ Yuko thought before making her way to the living room.

Meanwhile on the other side of the town, the other couple is spending their precious time together in a different way. Standing in front of a cafe, a boy and a girl stared at the big tarpaulin plastered outside the cafe.
“This is it.” The not so tall guy said.
“Are you ready?” The girl asked with such mocking tone.
“Heh. Of course, I prepared myself for this.” The guy proudly said.
“Let me remind you that failure is unacceptable. We must win. The prize must go to us.”
Kai grabbed Atsuko's hand and kissed them tenderly. “I will not disappoint you Atsuko. I will do anything for you to be happy.” Kai's loving gaze while saying those manly words almost melted Atsuko's heart right there and then.
“I didn't eat last night's dinner and today's breakfast just for this event.” Kai continued.
Knowing this piece of information, Atsuko became worried for her boyfriend's current condition but at the same time she felt guilty. It's not because Kai didn't eat anything for more than 12 hours just for them to have a high chance in winning. It's because she didn't sacrifice her dinner and breakfast and ate normally (When I say normal for Atsuko it is 3 cups of rice, half kilo meat, 2 mountains of leafy vegetables, and 4 slices of cake) like she's not entering a fast eating sweets competition later.
“My poor Kai. How are feeling right now? Are you getting dizzy? You should eat a little to keep you sane.”
Kai was touched at her girlfriend's concern towards him, not knowing that guilt was making Atsuko act like that because she ate her dinner and breakfast, which was just an hour ago.
“I'm alright. Besides, being with you already drives me insane. Hungry or not, my heart is still steadily beating heavily for you. I will overcome my limits only for you Atsuko.” Atsuko blushed hard from Kai's cheesy words.
“Mou, people are starting to look at us.” Atsuko shyly said. With that Kai noticed that the other couple contestants has also arrived and were waiting for the cafe to open.
“I don't care. Let them see how much I love you. This is my only chance to show around the people that you're mine.” Kai tucked one side of Atsuko's hair behind her ear. Atsuko felt the loneliness and sadness in Kai's eyes.
“I'm sorry if I don't allow you to be like this with me at school. I'm the stude-“ Kai stopped Atsuko by placing his finger on her mouth.
“Hush. I know and I understand and always will because I love you.”
“Kai...” With that Atsuko hugged her boyfriend tightly. “I love you too.” Atsuko said loud enough for other people to hear. Kai's heart fluttered, Atsuko never showed her affection to him on public but she would always try to give back when they're alone.
A few seconds later, the crowd became excited. It's not because of KaiAcchan, the cafe finally opened. Atsuko broke the hug and held Kai's hand. “Let's win this.”
“Together.” Kai finished and the two went inside hand in hand.
After the registration, the couples were now seated to their assigned seats. All the tables of the cafe were placed next to each other to create 2 rows of long table.
“Wow, there are many of us...” Kai said.
“The numbers of competitors are nothing. Only think of winning this Kai.” Atsuko strictly said.
“Yes Ma'am.”
“Okay, all the contestants are here.” The MC of the contest, which is probably one of the maids, began. “Everyone! Welcome to Kira Kira Cafe's 5th Sweets Eating Contest!” The people clapped in response for the official start of the program.
“I know you guys want to start to the contest but let me explain the mechanics of the game clearly for the last time.” The MC mightily took out a piece of paper and energetically read it out loud.
“Here it goes, each person will eat a plate of dessert and has to finish it fast in order to get the next dessert. Your love will be challenged in this game. You are both given different plates but you are not allowed to share unless your partner surrenders. Once your partner is out, the one who remains will also eat the remaining desserts your partner was originally going to eat it. Basically, you will end up eating double when your partner gives up if you still want to win. Will you continue to eat even if you reached your limit? Will you give up the chance to win just because your partner couldn't take it anymore and your burden doubled!?”
The MC threw the paper and shouted “The first couple who finishes eating all the 10 desserts wins the contest and will receive a grand dinner at the most expensive and tallest part of Sky Tree for FREE!!!!”
The contestants started to heat up and yelled in excitement.
“Do you want the free dinner at Sky Tree!!” The MC shouted louder.
“Yes!!!!”
"Do you want to eat a famous, delicious, and expensive food!!!!”
“Yes!!!!!!”
"Do you want to eat with your lover while gazing at the beautiful lights emitted by the city!!!!”
“Yes!!!!!!!!”
“Then let’s start this already!!! At the count of 3 everybody must start eating!!!!”
“3!!!”
“2!!!”
“Oooonnnnneeeeeeeeee!!!!!”
The contest officially started and the couples gulp with all their might the sweet desserts coming to them. At the 6th plate the contestants one by one lost a partner and had to eat the plates their partners left to them.
‘Ughh.. The cakes are getting sweeter. But the level of sweetness won't stop me from going on a free expensive dinner date with Atsuko!’ Kai thought and stole a glance at Atsuko who looked like she can still eat more.
‘Atsuko is still doing fine. As a man I will not let her down!’At the 7th dessert that is as big as the usual custard, half of the contestants completely surrendered. “The sweetness and size of the cakes levels up as the number of the plate rises! Who among these couples will win?”
At the 8th dessert with the size twice from the 7th cake, 3 couples were down leaving KaiAcchan and two other fat couples.
‘This is bad! I don't feel the taste of the cakes anymore! My tummy feels heavy and full!’ Kai dreadfully thought as he shoved in his mouth another piece of the cake. At the middle of finishing Kai's 8th plate he heard Atsuko whispered to him.
“Kai you can stop now. I can still handle the rest from here.” Atsuko whispered while giving him a worried look.
Kai didn't respond and only shoved a bigger piece of cake in his mouth.
‘I won't give up! I will not leave Atsuko to win this alone!’ Atsuko got worried more but she knew she can't stop Kai when he is decided.
Surprisingly the 3 couples left were still in sync with the plates. The size of the 9th dessert was 1/3 size bigger than the last one. The couples were struggling to finish eating the 9th plate.
“Whoa! The ReiMai couple finished their 9th plate together! And they now advance to the last plate!!!”
‘What?! I need to eat faster!’ Kai fasten his pace even if he doesn't feel anything anymore. His tasteless buds and his bloating stomach, never mind all of that.
A few seconds after the ReiMai couple got their 10th plate; Atsuko finished her 9th and asked for the next one.
“3 of our participants are going to taste the last and the bestselling cake we have! As you can see they will need to eat the whole cake but only one whole cake is given! That's right! The last cake is to be shared with your partner but he or she must finish their 9th plate before helping their partner!” The MC announced.
‘I can...still....eat... I want to vomit!’ Kai's vision started to get blurry as he ate the last piece of his 9th dessert and gulping it with the strength he have left. At the same time he felt his body in the process of falling.
“Kai are alright? Kai? Kai!!!” Atsuko's voice echoed inside his head not too long darkness took over Kai's consciousness.

Kai's POVI feel awful. My body is so heavy especially my stomach. What happened?
“Kai? Kai are you awake?” A worried voice called out to me. Is it Atsuko?
“Kai...” It is her.
“A...tsu...ko.....” I said I as I slowly opened my eyes.
“Kai!” Atsuko's scent evaded my senses as she hugged me while I'm lying down. As much as I want to hug her back, I just can't. My stomach began to feel weird
and I feel that the food digested was making its way to my mouth.
“Mmmphhggg.” I covered my mouth to fight back the urge to vomit and rose up from my position to let gravity help bring the incompletely digested food back to my stomach. It unfortunately reached my throat but I managed to gulp it down hard. My throat felt pain after a few seconds.
“Ah! Here's the water.” Atsuko handed the glass of water and it took away the pain from my throat as it passes through it.
“Thanks.” I managed to give a respond weakly.
“How is your stomach?” Atsuko asked still with worry and sat beside me.
“Hmm.. Heavy.” I remember now. We were at the contest...
“The manager gave me a medicine for you. Here.” Atsuko gave me a tablet and another glass of water. I noticed that we are in an unfamiliar place and I was sitting on a couch. I'm just glad I was not brought to the hospital.
“Who brought me here?”
“The guy employees did. They carried you all the way here outside the manager's office where a sofa is available.”
“Ah, I got to thank them later.”
“.......” Atsuko lowered her head and silence took over the atmosphere.
“Atsuko?” She hugged me again but this time it was gently done.
“You could have stopped eating when you can't eat anymore. Seeing you fainting in front of me is just...” Sobs followed and I felt her tears dropping on my shoulders. I held her tighter in my arms.
I'm so stupid. I made her worry and now she's crying. “I'm sorry. I just really want us to win and I as I said I will overcome my limits for you.”
Atsuko punched my chest and looked in my eyes with her watery ones. “You're pushing yourself too much for me. We are together. We need to rely on the other when we are at our own limit.” Atsuko placed her head back to my shoulders.
"Rely on me." Atsuko weakly ended.
“That's the problem.”
“?”
“I can rely on you yet you can't rely on me.” Just thinking that I'm right frustrates me. I blew the rare chance when Atsuko can rely on me and I even fainted because I can't eat anymore. What kind of a boyfriend am I?! I can't even prove myself to her.
“Kai?”
“You're perfect. You can do anything on your own. I couldn't even help you a little bit. I'm a useless boyfriend.” I slowly wiped away her tears.
“That not true!” Atsuko raised her voice but that was not it that caught my attention. It was her fierce eyes telling me that I'm totally wrong.
“You don't know how much you affect me. When I'm stressed at my work you are always there to take it away. Even if it is just a simple touch it's enough to energize and motivate me. Your constant attention towards me makes me more alive. Just being by your side makes my day great. You naturally give happiness to me.” Atsuko's tone began to soften. “I need you and I rely on you a lot. I only rely my happiness to you and you never fail at it.”
Atsuko placed her forehead on mine and said “You're not useless at all be it as a friend or boyfriend. You have your own way to help you just don't realize it.” She closed the remaining gap between us. I never thought I can still handle tasting something sweet after all of those desserts that I ate but Atsuko is an exception. I will never get tired of her sweetness.
The kiss was simple but it definitely felt great and it is just what I need at the moment. “Thank you Atsuko.”
Atsuko gave me her cheeky smile. “By the way, I continued eating after they dragged you away and got the 3rd prize.”
“Eh!? You finished the whole cake by yourself!?”
“Un. I can't give up not when you did your very best. I don’t want our efforts go to waste.”
“But you didn't force yourself on that big cake right?”
“I was almost reaching my limit but I managed and the prize is 4 free meals in this cafe.”
“Ehhh.....” Sweets again?
“Hey, this is not a pastry shop. It's a cafe. They serve sandwiches and rice meals too.” Atsuko pouted. She's really cute. I released a sigh of relief.
“That's good to know.”
“Can you stand already? We stayed here for too long.”
“Okay.” I rise up from my seat and held Atsuko's hand. “Bring me to them. I got to apologize for the trouble.”
“Sure.”
After doing the necessary things I walked Atsuko home. This day was somewhat bad but still good things happen too. My insecurity was washed away thanks to Atsuko. From now on I will work hard so that I will not ashamed Atsuko as her boyfriend and maybe she might allow a little flirting at school.
TBCNot much Kojiyuu but don't worry guys. You'll see their continuation in the next chap. The problem is when will I finish it this time.
