I hope the PB will be done differently this time. I'd rather have a more professional looking one that's 50-100 pages than 350 pages of grainy, blackish shots.

Which one will you guys usually go for? The photobook or DVD? I can't decide...

DVDs are cool, but they usually get shared. The PB may get scanned, but that isn't likely and it will always look much better in person. So I'm most tempted by the PB version.

I just realized that "Playboy Part II" could be a reference to Yamaguchi Momoe's song "Playback part 2". (She was an extremely famous singer/actress from the 70s.) RINA wrote the lyrics for that song, and she also played Momoe's song on one of their radio shows.

The CD/DVD version includes a DVD of some of the songs.
The Ltd edition contains the photobook with CD.
The CD version is the regular version.
Choose the Photobook edition AND the DVD version since they're both Limited Editions and will sell out quickly :D
Otherwise, if you're short on cash, get the basic CD!

300+ pages, full A4 size XD no kidding! But they were pics taken by the girls themselves and the quality of the pics was really low/grainy. I'm sure they are going for a more professional approach this time.

I was gonna wait, but I had a lot of free time today so I decided to do a track by track review.
1. EVERYBODY SAY YEAH (7.5/10)
Like the first album, we start off with a mid-tempo track. Although it's fun and funky it doesn't really work as an opener, as I would've preferred something with a lot more power to kick things off. I wrote the same thing for Scandal Baby last year too, so I guess they didn't listen to me. Damn them and their rebellious ways.

A very good track. Second best of the singles, only beaten by the next track.
3. 瞬間センチメンタル (9/10)
I have a thing for up-tempo rockers, so tracks like this usually click with me from the get-go. Best track on the album, along with Hi-Hi-Hi.
4. 放課後1H (7.5/10)
Yikes, cuteness overload. What is this, did someone run the Hello Project Eggs through a distortion amp or something? I like it.
5. 涙のリグレット (7.5/10)
The melody (chorus especially) is a bit too predictable and traditional for me to score it any higher. Still, a good song by all means.
6. Hi-Hi-Hi (9/10) :heart:
Really fun track. A little energy and attitude goes such a long way. Going back and forth with this and Shunkan Sentimental for my fav song on the album, in the end I decided they're about equal. At just over 3 mins, it's exactly the right length to really deliver!
7. 少女M (3/10) :panic:
With a name like that, I was really hoping for an awesome sequel track to top (or at least be on par with) one of their absolute best songs. Well girls, an EPIC FUCKING FAIL if I ever heard one. Had they actually tried to make something of it, the song could've been decent. In it's current form the song doesn't really go anywhere at all, and sounds quite flat. At first I really wanted to score this a 0 out of pure disappointment, but I tried my best to be fair. That 3 is me being VERY generous. :shakeit:
8. GIRLism (6/10)
After falling flat on it's face, the album gets back on it's feet with a decent track. Though, it is a bit of a filler track, and nothing really special. At least it's short.
9. プレイボーイPartⅡ (7/10)
Nice track, and certainly better than the first Playboy song (although that wasn't hard to do). Good chorus.
10. Hello!Hello! (8/10)
Pretty good track. I have to say, I really think these kind of simpler up-tempo tracks fit the girls the best.
11. 会いたい (7.5/10)
After the first verse and chorus, I was a bit worried considering the song is 5 mins long. The mid-section, although short, was good and gave the song a little boost. Still not a great track, but decent enough.
12. さよならMy Friend (8/10)
Closing the album, this track isn't quite as epic as it wants to be, but it's still very melodic and nice. Listening to this, I keep thinking of Mr.Children, since a lot of their songs are quite similar in style. A good track, and the girls end the album on a positive note.

Overall, I'm a little disappointed. The album itself isn't bad, but I was really hoping they would deliver a stronger album than their debut. The first album had much stronger singles, so I was hoping the album tracks would be awesome this time around. Sadly, a lot of them were not. A very good first half, a dud and a half in the middle, and then it slowly picks up again. Disregarding the abomination in the middle, most of the album tracks have potential to grow on me, so the disappointment is more from the expectations I had beforehand.

Just got an email today (this late before shipping date) from CDJapan stating that the postage has gone up for their orders! Their EMS shipping service to N. American is 4500 Yen ~ 50US$ especially if you ordered both the DVD and PB versions :shocked
Many people at various Scandal forums have already posted that their shipping costs have gone UP as well due to the fact that the picture book is relatively big and bulky to ship.
I'm amazed that some of the members here already received their orders.
Just have to suck it up since I'm a Scandal fan :P
Now to start saving Again for their new single :cry:

So I finally got my photobook edition. Its cool that the CD case is some A4 size casing. But I can't put it in my CD rack like the rest of my CDs. :nervous
I'm wondering what the pics are like from the booklet of the regular and DVD version. Love the white uniforms and the cover also looks a lot hotter than the photobook version.

Don't really like the vocals on this one. Haruna sounds really nasal. The 'everybody say yeah' sounds really poppy.

What to say... Better than the first album? No, because it lacks catchy songs. A lot of these songs are kinda weak and don't stand out. They are not bad songs! But it lacks some power and catchy tunes. The singles are definitely the best songs on the album. This could mean two things. 1. The other songs need to grow on me too. 2. Maybe my perception of Scandal is just wrong. Maybe they aren't the killer rock band I want them to be at all. Which would explain why I keep expecting different things from them. I'd rate this album around a 7.5/10 on average; it's good, but not great.

hmmm, i make a review too then. maybe i have different opinions but i make this not for any heated comments, is just my personal feelings. so yup.
1. EVERYBODY SAY YEAH (9/10)
i find this opening song much better than SCANDAL BABY. a mid tempo songs always can make people to listen the rest easily. it started with a cool guitar and drum set up. after that, Haruna and Tomomi interact very well, and as always Mami gives a cool guitar solo. it really brings the fans to stay with thier tempo.
2. Taiyou to Kimi ga Egaku STORY (10/10)
best of the best! that summer feel, that high tempo playing and once again, mami with the solo guiar part. is a wonderful song.
3. Shunkan Sentimental (9.5/10)
one of the best for FMA, this song is hell rock by the girls. very big thumbs up.
4. Houkago 1H (9/10)
well, is Tomomi alone for the 1st time and i must say, her high-pitch tone still suits very well. it makes as if i was in the school listening to her singing. reat effort by her! =)
5. Namida no Regret (8.5/10)
1st ballad, it wasn't that bad. the lyrics are way too sorrow. making me sometimes thinking of hurtful things. nevertheless, it can be better. a great 1st try!
6. Hi-Hi-Hi (9/10)
fast tempo songs are always a characterstic of this band. and this songs justifies why they are good at this. the rapping part at the start is wonderful, the interaction between the band can be well seen here. nice one!
7. Shoujo M (6/10)
yup, is true that this songs have far too high expectations due to Shoujo S. but i must say MAMI sings it alone for the 1st time and she's great. a very shy girl in the past till now, is quite a big step for her! but yup, is that ancestor of Shoujo S that pins down the rhythm of the song though. if it was given in other titles, i will give a higher score mark.
8. GIRLism (8.5/10)
yes is no, no is yes. short song, great music. and this so-called SCANDAL theory makes it cheeky for the fans to fall with it easily. with that hanging of No is, end. haha.
9. Playboy Part II (9.5/10)
i must say, this is a wonderful song, compared to the the original Playboy. another great music rhythm. and it easily rhymes.
10. Hello! Hello! (9/10)
great. just a great song. nothing much to say. can be better though.
11. Aitai (10/10)
i really like this song a lot. cause the meaning of this song is there, the music is there. every each of the ingredients are there. i cannot ask for more.
12. Sayonara My friend (9.5/10)
great end for the album. a soothing song. great for graduation periods. yup
Overall, you must say that this band has gone for wide varieties of musics for this album and is really good! they make that effort and it pays off! is true this band is usually presenting rock songs, but overall, most of the songs here are typicall rocky too. as always though, they can do better.

About the PB I thought some were a lil blurry. I'm almost certain the photographer could have done a better job capturing their beauty! >:(
Then again I'm no expert on photography
Overall though I guess I'm satisfied with the purchase, the album is good and the PB is also good ^_^ definate improvement from the first PB though! >_>p
