A/N: First attempt at writing a fic! I apologise for the generic theme of the story but I’ve based it on a song, which is also where I stole the title from. Also a big thank you to the people that helped me out
Prologue
The tranquil street was lined with auburn trees all slowly swaying in the wind, waving goodbye to the leaves. These leaves were the very same ones that gave the towering existence such wonderful life and vibrancy; yet every year, when it reaches its most beautiful prime, it is simply let go. Released to gradually flutter down to the ground, its final resting place where it would be forgotten beneath the footprints of the distracted students. However some may escape such a lonely end and instead be saved by the pPosterioring breeze, left to dance together in complete ignorant bliss of the melancholy fate that the others have suffered from.
I stood there, a solitary statue amidst the swirling shards of ruby, leaning against the grey stone walls of my school gazing up at the lone cloud drifting across the crimson sea in an attempt to pPosterior the time.
“Hey, Jurina!”
I peered round the gate to notice two figures emerge from within the school; one of them had their slender arm outstretched franticly waving towards me. As Rena hurried closer I could see the goofy grin across her face mouth something at me but I was busy trying to work out who the other girl was. She was just taller than Rena and they both had the same dark black hair except the stranger’s raven locks flowed down beyond her shoulders and over the cute maroon scarf that was cuddled closely to her warm rosy cheeks.
“I’m so sorry we took so long Jurina.” Rena spoke up as she approached me.
“No worries, it wasn’t that long a wait but er…” I gestured toward the other girl “Aren’t you going to introduce her?” It was then that I noticed both the girls’ faces turn bright scarlet as they shared sheepish glances at each other.
“Well…erm…” Rena stuttered before announcing “Yuki this is Jurina…” She took a nervous pause “and Jurina I’d like to introduce you to Yuki, my girlfriend…”

A/N: I apologise for it being extremely short and poor but I was eager to get started once I had the idea :nervous

A/N: Hey guys I have already decided to embark on my second story! I won't tell you what inspired me to write this but I'm sure all you manga/anime fans out there will immediately spot my reference XD Now this fic will have a distinctly different tone to my previous one but I hope you guys enjoy it just as much^^
Chapter 1- The Forgiving Hunter
The year 2048, people’s expectation of a new smarter world had failed to come to fruition. Technology had not advanced like everyone said it would and in fact it seemed like the world had regressed. Society took a huge fall back and the world was full of crime and hate. This was not to say that the governments didn’t have any power over countries, it was more like they didn’t care any more. Rather than investing money for more law reinforcement and a larger task force they placed bounties on the head of each criminal, dead or alive you take the body of them they give you the cash. Scum killing scum for the small price of money, no matter how you look at it the plan was a good one. However I was thankful for this. We are known as cleaners, and we took advantage of these bounties to earn a living. People would normally frown at as for eliminating people for money, but we made a deal with the public, we’ll hunt at night out of the way and they ignore us, let us get on with business.
My piercing dark reflection slid away as I stepped out onto filthy platform. I strode across to the only thing dimly illuminating the station. Next to the vending machine was a scrawny little figure clad in scruffy ripped rags. There was cat sitting on her shoulder blending into her pitch black hair and coat. After pressing several buttons I snatched my black coffee out from the compartment. Making my way towards the stairs there was the noise of clanging behind me.
“Hey, you forgot your change.” It was the ragged girl holding out her hand containing a single copper coin.
“Why don’t you just keep it? You sure as hell need it more than I do.” I brushed her off with a wave and climbed up the stairs.
“No you should take it back since it’s yours.” The girl followed me out of the underground. She was giving me a daft feline grin. “Plus what am I meant to get with this much? I can’t even buy a carton of milk.”
“Oh right so you want more?” My hand dove into my pocket to grab more coins. Suddenly the cat leapt from her shoulder and rushed off down an alley.
“Train, wait for me!” The girl’s coat fluttered as she chased after her cat.
“Must be one of those crazy types; giving her cat such a strange name.” Muttering under my breath I set off in search of a target. Wandering through the murky alleys it didn’t take long to find a mugging take place.
“Hey do you mind coming with me? I’m kind of in need of a little cash.” Tossing aside the empty can I strolled toward the ugly being.
“You, you’re a cleaner aren’t you?” He was trembling in fear as he started to back away. I continued toward him sarcastically applauding his powers of deduction.
“You must be the mastermind of your gang with such genius like that.” Reaching into my coat I took out two compact pistols and aimed them at him. “Well I can’t be wasting any more time now so any last words?”
“Hey, cleaner.” There were several grunts coming from behind me. “You’re not exactly the smartest.” Without realizing it I was surrounded by four more members of the gang all armed with knives.
“Brilliant now I can now get 500,000 instead of 100,000” Smirking as the circle around me gradually became smaller.
“Don’t be getting too cocky now, or are you really that stu— Get this thing off me!” There was a familiar looking animal sitting on top of the thug’s polished dome.
“Good job finding her Train!” The cat’s idiot owner was skipping towards us waving her arm towards me. “Hey tall scary lady I still have your money. Oh wait, these dummies look a lot scarier though.” The girl still had a beaming grin across her face; the situation didn’t seem to mean anything to her.
“Who do you think you’re talking to huh?” Rage building up in his veins, causing them to bulge out of his forehead. “It’s a shame we’re going to have to ruin that cute little face of yours.” Even with a yelling madman charging at her the girl still had a cheerful expression. In fact I noticed a small glint in her eyes as her hand disappeared into her coat. The next moment several shots echoed into the night. Loud screams filled the alley as everyone around me simultaneously collapsed.
The moon was shining its spotlight upon the source of the sound where the happy go lucky teen once stood. The gun in her hand was still letting out a thin wisp of smoke from its barrel. Her smile had morphed into a solemn glare creating an atmosphere full of intent around her. However there was a something mysteriously lacking. For someone with such sharp shooting ability I didn’t feel a single ounce of killing intent.
“The bounties are all yours.” My attention was caught by the coin revolving through the air. By the time I looked back down the alley the girl and her cat had already vanished into the darkness.
“Ugh what the hell was that thing?” I was just a confused as the dazed voice. Since when did anyone else come here? My eyes flickered around and only found the five bodies on the concrete surrounded by a pool of blood. Then I noticed that these bodies were in fact still conscious, all of them desperately clutching at their bleeding knees.
“Why would you let these scum bags live?” My weapons were directed at the heads of the men. With every pull of the trigger nightmares of my past flashed through my mind. Once the execution was over I took out my mobile. “Hey Mayu, I got another five.” Discarding the coin onto a corpse I continued my search for my next target. I felt a little sorry for my next victim. It’s not their fault some random girl decided to ruin my night, but they would be the unfortunate one that suffers from my wrath.
