Thanks for the video sh15uya.

It makes me wonder... French TV were given those live clips to show, some of which haven't been seen before... so maybe they have a DVD out soon.

awesome sh15uya. great footage from the temple festival, the announcer is hilarious too. no doubt Dan, they should drop a FC DVD of all the footage from the past years in one package.

here's a pic of their appearance in 05/15(土) 「KERA」: http://www.indexcomm.co.jp/kera/

I thought I'd post this here instead of the Europe tour thread because this doesn't directly have to deal with that, but...

I love that in pretty much every performance of Sadistic Dance I've seen through fancams and things, Rika sings the harmony in the chorus live. It's performances like that that show she really has grown as a singer. She may not have the most natural talent for vocals in the world, but Rika's improved so much <333.

I've been trying to compile a list of all the h&a live performances, I think I listed them all unless someone sees that I missed one?

2009.10.25 V-Rock Festival, Makuhari Messe, Chiba [webcast of 3 songs, don't know if this was the full performance. we never got the complete video, just audio]
2009.10.31 Chibi Japan Expo, Paris **[only have audio of 4.5 of the 6 songs performed]
2009.12.23 Star Christmas Live, Ikebukuro Sunshine City [mini live] **
2009.12.25 America Mura, Osaka [mini live]
2009.12.31 Taiwan

2010.01.30 Shibuya O East, Tokyo
2010.02.11 Osaka, Shinsaibashi Club Quattro

2010.05.27 London Camden Underworld
2010.05.29 Paris La Maroquinerie **

Items marked with ** are ones we never got audio for, unless someone knows differently?
We never got a complete Chibi Japan Expo.  I edited together some audio from the various clips on youtube but it's missing the first minute of The Peace and completely missing the encore of Kill Me Kiss Me.  I can upload it if anyone wants it.  Does anyone know if there's a complete version, or even just the 2 missing parts?

News for those living in England

I was flicking through Neo Magazine today to see whether I wanted it or not and noticed

In the issue of Neo released on the 15th of July there will be an article of Hangry and Angry with an interview!!
It might not be too awesome (I've found some of their articles on bands in-accurate or annoying) but for some pages of Rika and Yossie and an interview?? I'll be buying for sure!!
I'll try and take some photos/scans when I do!!~

Here's an interview from Mata Web, a french site:thumbup

Interview : HANGRY & ANGRY

Rika : Ayaka's English Lessons ? Vous vous en souvenez ?
Hitomi : Incroyable !

awesome post. I'm waiting for one of our bilingual French (or Canadian) members to translate, I'm curious. did it say something about an Onkagu Gatas surprise? I love how they were shocked that the interviewer had seen Ayaka's English Lessons..

Just use Google translate like I did for the subs for the French TV thing.  A machine translation from French to English is usually a lot more successful than Japanese to Engligh for example.

Interview: HANGRY & ANGRY

Written by TiBer0use | Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 22:45 in Portraits - Interviews

Point of honor at the group's first European tour, the concert in Paris at the Maroquinerie was highly anticipated by fans, and did not disappoint! We were able to talk with the duo on the eve of their concert ...

Mata Web: Firstly, can you introduce yourself and your group for our readers who do not know you?
Hitomi: HANGRY & ANGRY is a musical project & is a collaboration with fashion designer h.NAOTO.

M.W: How did you meet h.NAOTO? Is he the one who contacted you? Did you already know his work before?
Hitomi: Initially, h.NAOTO introduced us and proposed the concept. Previously, we knew of his work as the characters HANGRY & ANGRY.

M.W: Who writes and composes your songs? Do you work at this job?
Hitomi: Before the group, there is a producer who made up our songs and music. But if one day we had the chance, we would be quite happy to invest ourselves in this work also.

MW: In your first full album, Sadistic Dance, you have inserted many elements of electronic and digitized voice. Why?
Hitomi: Of course between each album, this music can evolve in a more or less intentional way, but Sadistic Dance is mainly due to the presence of DJ Dan, who really brought this album into his world and those elements of electro , digitized voice and so forth. But this is still part of a group's musical evolution.

MW: In this album, we find "The Peace", a song of Morning Musume. What made you want to take that particular title? Do you repeat the experiment?
Hitomi: Basically, it has recently begun on a delusion. We sang this revival the first time live, and as there was a very good public response, we thought it would be nice to record it, so that's how it found itself on the album. We then again repeatedly performed it on stage, and its always popular, we would like to repeat the experience in the future. If the opportunity presents itself to us, it will be with pleasure.

MW: What are your thoughts on the visual kei scene, who come from a world that is almost the opposite?
Hitomi: While these are two opposite worlds, they meet by the fact that they affect every two people in the depths of their being. So it can be a very happy side, or a much darker side. And most important in the end, whatever form, is to reach people.

MW: We remember the show's Ayaka's English Lessons, broadcast between 2001 and 2002. Since the group's formation and arrival on the international market, have you improved your English?
Rika: Ayaka's English Lessons? You remember?
Hitomi: Incredible!
Rika: Yes, it feels much better having people understand what we say. On the other hand French, it's too difficult ... (Laughs)

MW: You also have another group in common, Ongaku Gatas. Your last single to date, "Ready! Kick Off!", Was released in March. What is the future of the group?
The manager: Continue to consult regularly with news on the internet, we can not say anymore for now, it will be a little surprise.

MW: You've both been part of Morning Musume for many years. What are your thoughts today on the group and its current members?
Hitomi and Rika: We love them of course! We often see them in concert, they sing and dance as if we were on stage with them! (Laughs)

MW: Can you tell us something about your future plans?
Hitomi: There still has not decided anything concrete, but once the tour is over, we would work to create new songs.

MW: Finally, we know you passionate about football, a little prediction for the World Cup?
Hitomi: I am fully behind Japan!
Rika: I support my country too, but also France. In fact, I like Thierry Henry, it is a pity he has not played much this year ... So I support France after Japan!

It's a slow night at work... so, I translated the h&A interview from mata-web.com.

Interview: hANGRY&ANGRY
written by TiBer0use
[translated to English by Kimuuu]

As a hyped up part of the group's first European tour, the concert in Paris at La Maroquinerie was packed with fans and did not disappoint!  We were able to chat with the duo before the concert...

Mata Web: First of all, could you explain your group for our readers who aren't familiar with you?
Hitomi: hANGRY&ANGRY is a music project born from a collaboration with fashion designer h.NAOTO.

MW: How did you meet h.NAOTO?  Did he himself contact you?  Were you aware of his work prior to contact?
H: At first, h.NAOTO contacted us and proposed the idea.  Before, we didn't know of his work besides the HANGRY&ANGRY characters.

MW: Who writes and composes your songs?  Do you take part in that process?
H: Further up the chain, there's a producer that composes our songs and music.  But if one day we had the chance, we'd love to invest ourselves equally in that process.

MW: In your first full album, Sadistic Dance, you have included many electronic elements as well as digitized voices.  Why did you choose that?
H: Of course, in between albums, our music can evolve in a way that's more or less intentional, but in Sadistic Dance, the change was essentially because of DJ DAN's involvement.  He really brought his own flavor and those electronic elements, the digitized voices, etc.  But that is all part of the musical evolution of the group.

MW: On this album, we can find "The Peace", a Morning Musume song.  What made you want to redo that particular song?  Would you do something similar?
H: Originally, it kinda just started out of delirium.  We sang the reprise for the first time, and since we had such a great reaction from the fans, we figured it would be cool to record the song, and that's how it ended up on the album. Afterwards, we kept performing it live, and it was always a popular hit.  We would love to do something like this again in the future.  If the opportunity arises, it would be our pleasure.

MW: What's your opinion on the visual kei scene, considering you're coming from a quasi-opposite world?
H: Even if these are two opposite worlds, they are joined by the fact that they both touch people deep within their being.  It could be the very happy side, or it could be a more sombre side.  Most importantly, in the end, in whatever way, it reaches people.

MW: We remember the show "Ayaka's English Lessons", broadcast between 2001 and 2002.  Since the formation of your group and your arrival on the international scene, have you improved your English?
Rika: Ayaka's English Lessons?  You remember?
H: Incredible!
R: Indeed, we seem to better understand what's being said to us.  On the other hand, French, it's too hard... (LOL)

MW: You also have another group together, Ongaku Gatas.  Your latest single, "Ready! Kick Off!!", came out in March.  What's the future of the group?
The manager: Keep checking the news on the internet, we won't say anything yet for now, it will be a bit of a surprise.

MW: Both of you were a part of Morning Musume for many years.  What do you think of the group now and its current members?
H & R: We love them of course!  We would often go to see them in concert, we sing and dance as if we were on stage with them! (LOL)

MW: Could you tell us a bit about your future projects?
H: There still isn't anything decided or concrete, but once the tour is done, we would love to start working on making new songs.

MW: To finish this off, we know you're passionate about soccer.  Could you give us a prediction for the World Cup?
H: I fully support Japan!
R: I also support my country, but France just as equally.  In fact, I really like Thierry Henry, it's too bad he didn't play much this year...  So I support France after Japan!

I decided to be kind to this forum too and post these pics and translations here too. X-posted from HH:

Alright, I'm done with the translation of the Finnish Japan Pop magazine. I realized that some parts are damn difficult..  :? So, it's not word to word, but I wrote it so that the meaning stays pretty much the same. Also sorry for grammar mistakes and possible weird choice of words  :sweatdrop:

Japan Pop No 4-2010

HANGRY&ANGRY at Tavastia 24.05.2010
Electropop in h.Naoto style

HANGRY&ANGRY arrived to refresh the gig spring in Finland, which have been filled by male artists, by their girl energy at the end of May. Japan Pop went to check the touch of these former “Morning Daughters” and stated the composition working very well. This new duo showed that it easily gains their place in the pop industry, but they could have done some things differently with their Europe Tour.

Wonderful start
People are waiting for the concert to start and there are Hello!Project videos playing on the screen. Surprisingly the time goes by pleasantly by watching Buono!, C-ute and Berryz Kobo although at the same time the music playing in the hall is Hangry & Angry’s rockish electropop. (tutu note: no, they didn‘t play h&A at this point…) The audience looks jovial at the first sight: although, as expected, there’s some young people who are clearly J-rock fans, but there’s also plenty of enthusiastic adult men. As the screen goes black and HANGRY&ANGRY’s logo appears these gentlemen’s low cheering voices welcomes the duo, and even though the girls must have get used to this, to my own ears the noise of the audience sounded like howling of some villagers trying to banish a giant away with torches.

The DJ steps on the stage first and turns out that she’s Finnish. Soon after her Hangry&Angry follows, the former members of Morning Musume - Yoshizawa Hitomi And Ishikawa Rika. HANGRY&ANGRY was formed in 2008 to promote the designer h.Naoto’s clothes and other products. Ishikawa is styled with sweet lolita style which is emphasized by Yoshizawa’s punk look. So the group is commercial and very far productized, and they’re not even trying to deny it. The suspicions fade away when the show starts: the girls, as typical to the Musumes, are performing like professionals, they remember the presence of the audience the whole time and keep up flirting endlessly. Their performance is energetic, fun and cute. If there’s something HANGRY&ANGRY are missing in the content of lyrics, they fix it by the catchy choruses that even those who are not familiar with the songs are trying to sing them along. Mr Monkey is cheerful and makes u jump, Angelia brings darker tones on the stage and Kill Me Kiss Me, definitely the most awaited song, hits everyone’s minds and stays there for the next several weeks. Briefly, the atmosphere is wonderful. It’s a shame that the musical part isn’t longer than 40 minutes; the rest of the time there are lucky fans getting photographs with the group, poster lottery and answers to the fans’ questions. HANGRY&ANGRY haven’t released more than one mini album and one full album, so they don’t have much material, but they could have lengthen the night by covers, for example. 30 euros is a little too much for only 30+ minutes of music.

The sweet middle part
The questions from the fans brings more value to the night. The first fan asks what kind of prejudices or thoughts the girls had about Finland before arriving. Ishikawa yells “Moomins!” and gets happy laughter from the audience. We also hear that if the duo could choose superpowers to themselves Yoshizawa would learn to fly. As for Ishikawa , she would like to get food to materialize whenever she thinks about some yummies. When asking about the possible upcoming cover songs, the girls mention Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga. The translator on the stage tells that the girls listen to these artists the most in the backstage before the gigs.

Weak ending
The night ends without any frantic encores (tutu note: The Peace WAS the encore…) or the last cheery beats: after the waves, the translator drives the girls off into the backstage and advertises the fanclub and the products they’re selling before the lights dim and the roadies start to clean the stage. Even though the performance was good and the interaction of the girls sympathetic, they could have end the night some other way than reminding that the girls did like you and promise to come back, but the comeback would be easier if you go spend your last money for the goodies at the merchandise table. Maybe the girls will release one or two more albums before their next visit so that there would be more dancing and less advertise speeches.

[if you post elsewhere, please credit]  ;)
(I'm translating another magazine that got 2 pages, so it'll take a bit longer..)

Thanks for translating the article, but wow... o_o;; such a harsh review~ Admittedly the show was a bit short, but still wtf. I guess the journalist here didn't think about how the fans, who have been waiting years and years to be able to see these members live, felt when they finally got to see them~ XD.

lol, advertising speeches? It's common sense to support a group you like, especially when they're branching out on their first European tour (though small). We'd like to see them come back! xD;;;; Nothing wrong with a little self promotion. Isn't it quite common to do that? Lol I don't know 8D

And I don't know about you, but I've never been to a show that had an integrated lottery/Q&A session before :o The journalist here kind of brushes it off like it was some kind of gimmick @_@; Getting to interact with your idols and seeing candid little moments in person = the best a fan can get! xD Hahahaha

Thanks for the interview translation!

I'd totally love to hear some rocked out Michael Jackson or Lady Gaga. "Beat It" just screams for a cover from these two LOL
And I guess you can't please everyone, but I'm sure for the fans that went, they had the time of their lives xD So it's all good!
Maybe if and when they release more material the shows will be longer =D

NOW COME BACK TO AMERICA H&A T__T
preferably the east coast this time ahha

X-posting from HH again~
Fffffuuuuu, the article of this other magazine was even harder to translate D: The writer uses too difficult wording.. lol. Again, it's not word to word, but the main meaning should be there. And again sorry for possible bad grammar and weird choice of words  :sweatdrop:

From the princesses of pop to the queens of street fashion
Hangry & Angry at Tavastia

In year 2008 designer h.Naoto wished artist Gashicon to create fitting mascots for his clothing brand. As the result, the catlike cartoon characters were born. Hangry is recognized by the punkish style and Angry by her preference for gothic lolita. The project that started normally made eyebrows to raise when the mascots continued their journey into real life and a real recording group. After all, the case can’t be described as just a cheap advertise trick because the human Hangry & Angry are played by Hitomi Yoshizawa and Rika Ishikawa who were singing in the popular group Morning Musume during their teenager years. At that time Yoshizawa was known as the tomboy of the group.

When Hangry & Angry debuted, they didn’t want to officially admit their real identity, but afterwards their girl group background have been turned into advantage. Before the start of the Tavastia gig there was a documentary-like video showed on the screen where the former member of Morning Musume, Nozomi Tsuji, and current members Ai Takahashi and Risa Niigaki were recalling their experiences concerning to the stars of the night. One of the comments was Tsuji’s revelation of Yoshizawa, who is called Yossy; it’s not good to give her too much alcohol.
Punk, pop and electro mixed in their music, Hangry & Angry performed only the songs from the full Sadistic Dance album and Kill Me Kiss Me mini album which is why the Finnish fans got to hear almost the whole discography. The singers managed it through without bigger help, since there was only one person with them on the stage - a blonde DJ Alicia who turned to be Finnish. The audience gave loud applauds to the introducing video and the musical part of the gig started with highly admired Top Secret.

Fans, posing and punk pop
The duo’s rockish performance included free jumping and twirling which separates them from the girl group Morning Musume’s strict choreographies. For the fans’ joy there were also photogenic singing next to each other which culminates to Hangry placing her hand around Angry’s waist during Wall Flower. Because of the dancing background, the natural dance moves popped up here and there during the night, for example Mr. Monkey included some symmetrical hand movements. After the slightly serene Romantic ni Violence the girls stopped for a while to speak to the audience that, just like in Japan, included notable amount of men. Angry started with simple Japanese sentences, and Hangry told it’s the first time for them to be in Finland and that they’re performing songs from their debut album.
Despite of the loose space in the concert hall, the audience seemed to enjoy every moment at full. The most impressive song appeared to be Lady Madonna; ethereal atmosphere mixed to strong lyrics which now sounded even more dramatic. One reason to this impression might have been very imposing performance that included purple feather fans and hip swinging. As the ending climax Hangry & Angry threw their fans behind them and continued till the end of the song with wide hand movements. After this the duo continued by easier absorbed pop material with Kill Me Kiss Me. This song gave space for the fans too since their job was to sing the “kiss me” part in the chorus. Like a cherry on top, the last song heard was one level heavier edited cover of Morning Musume’s hit The Peace! The single originates from 2001 when both of the singers still belonged to the group.

The night continues with different show
One of the specialties of the gig was the lottery spot next to the merchandise table where the fans stopped to fill their info. The prize was quite unique since two lucky ones would get to the same photograph with Hangry & Angry. After Morning Musume’s cover ended DJ Alicia reminded of the last chance to participate and then the audience was left to watch Top Secret music video. After the break Hangy & Angry returned to the stage for the question session. Thanks to the beforehand chosen fans we got to know that Angry connects Finland to Moomin and that the duo would be interested in to create a new version of Shabondama. The audience was also pleased by their superpower wishes - Hangry would choose to fly whereas Angry would be happy with a power of get food appear out of nowhere.
Angry started the lottery by lifting the first ticket and telling the winning numbers. The winner was found on the name, but it took time to find the verification part of the ticket which made the translator joking about Angry becoming literally angry. More icebreakers were to come; when the winners went to the stage and got their pictures taken in front of the audience, according to the translator this might make the other fans jealous. Besides the main prize, few more fans were called to the stage to get a signed posters.
After all, with all the histories and additional parts the gig was over in one and half hours which means the music was heard scantily. To fix this situation they could have, for example, add a replay of some hit songs to the encore. Despite of the sparing music part, thanks to their glowing charisma and danceable music Hangry & Angry can state to be a desired addition to Finnish concert selection. The friends of real indie music can notice clear productization from the duo, but because of the skilled show this duo infiltrating into the underground scene was worth get to know.

INTERVIEW PART

On the weekend before the Helsinki visit Hangry & Angry was performed twice in front of German audience. The one of those was the actual concert and the other was a free promotional gig at the Alexa mall. The singers get along the best with their fans.
- Our love for performing is based to the fact that we know the fans are waiting for our gigs with great enthusiasm. It’s us they want to see and this means a lot to us, says Hangry who’s known as Hitomi Yoshzawa.
Hangry & Angry is directed to the friends of visual rock, but surprisingly the duo’s first language quote wasn’t French or German which are praised in these circles. In Top Secret they’re saying goodbye in Russian.
- Do svidanija! the duo yells at the same time when we bring it up.
- Yes, we haven’t written the lyrics so we were first surprised about this word too. We didn’t even know what language it was, Angry aka Rika Ishikawa recalls. - But at the same time is was something fresh and different.
Despite of their unique sides Hangry & Angry’s world seems a little limited, since the project is attached to h.Naoto’s mascots and fashion trends. Hangry doesn’t consider their parts just as a role-play(?) though.
- Our characters are admittedly strong, but when we perform we are definitely being ourselves. So we kind of play ourselves through these characters.
Choosing the roles happened naturally too.
- We knew right away which one would be Hangry and which one Angry, Angry reveals.

Morning Musume hit appealed to the Finns

There’s renowned help behind Hangry & Angry because they’ve cooperated with Izam to polish their performances. Izam, known from 1990’s hit band Shazna, caused discussion by leading rockers’ feminine dressing one level further. The secret of a long running artist is in details.
- Izam is very sensitive and values the movements of fingers, Angry tells. - They can be so elegant and sensitive. By our hands we realized how sensitive the movements of body actually are.
Successful gig experience affiliates with the choice of songs. Which ones of the songs works best in live?
- Especially thinking of the Helsinki gig, The Peace! was the kind of song that got everyone and that everyone knew. We were surprised how much the fans got excited about the song. It seem to be a good song for performances, Angry states about the duo’s earlier hit. Hangry agrees and adds that she’s noticed Angelia getting a good acceptance in Europe.
Maybe the thought of a new version of Shabondama wouldn’t be a bad pull.
