AMSTERDAM — Netherlands winger Arjen Robben limped off the field with a left hamstring injury Saturday in the team's 6-1 rout of Hungary in a friendly, casting his World Cup participation into doubt and delaying his departure for South Africa.

haha possibly. I'm more interested to see if this Al-Qaeda threat on the England vs USA game ever goes ahead. Not that I want to see it happening, God forbid, but the newspapers have been building up that story quite a bit over here that you think that's the actual event everyone's interested in rather than a football match.

Was listening to the local radio this morning and this woman rang in to argue with the host about how everyone in the UK should support England (aye right). Anyway, she made her point, said she's prefer Spain to win because she thinks they play good football and she claimed to have followed Spanish football quite closely. She was asked for her favourite player and she replied, "Fernande Torres". When he asked why she said "Because he's the best looking."

^

Didn't read anything about that threat, that's kinda wild.

Ivory Coast boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has said star man Didier Drogba is in with a shout of playing in his nation's World Cup opener against Portugal on Tuesday.
 Sven, man..

So close to the start.. :jerk:

Yeh man, in particular the news reports focus on a video where a masked man is going on about 'Death to the infidels' etc and as he's doing it he's got a ticket to the match itself, and covered it in blood. Crazy. Though I bet he will feel silly when he realises that was his only way of getting into the stadium lol

The only time anything ever happens is when there isn't a threat.

Anyway only a few more hours to go! LET'S GET THIS SHIT STARTED!

Who you got in the opening matches?

South Africa 1 - 3 Mexico
Uruguay 1 - 1 France

South Africa 1-1 Mexico

Pretty dull game from both ends, I thought. Hoping France and Uruguay put on a show

Anybody here knows anything about the rules of football? About that Mexican disallowed goal, wasn't there a South African player on the GK's line? That means the Mexican player was behind the defense, aka, not offside. If the guy on the GK line is judged "not in play" then what happens if he blocks a shot? Can't have it both ways can you?

As for the game itself... I hope to see better finishing from now onwards please.

This game had the same amount of action as a F1 race  :nervous

and the horns are truly annoying, I'll still be hearing that sound when I lay in bed tonight.

A player is in an offside position if he is in his opponents' half of the field and is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the next to last opponent.

^ thanks. didn't help much at first but after alot of dissecting and analyzing came up with the answer; never assume that the GK is the last defender.
