Black Chocolate: Afterstory
(Mayuki Epilogue OS)It's been a month since Mayu and Yuki have become a couple and they lived happily ever after.
But, recently, Yuki's become worried about Mayu.
Ever since she became a full witch, she's been acting a bit different. Not her normal "different."
She's gotten more quiet than normal, and she's been all childish and clingy to her.
Calling her Mama and kissing her WAY more than usual.
"I wonder why..." she kept thinking to herself.
"Mama-rin!"
Mayu giggled as she ran towards her, clinging onto her arm.
"Mama-rin, I found a really cute maid café. Can we go eat there?"
"A maid café? I didn't know you liked those."
"Yeah! I've always wanted to go to one!" Mayu continued snuggling against her shoulder like a cute puppy. "Can we, Mama-rin?"
Yuki giggled and petted her head.
"Sure. Let's go."
Mayu grabbed her hand and dragged her by her heels.
"I'll show you the way!"
"Sorry for the wait. Here's your omelet rice."
The cute maid with cat ears laid down a plate with a beautifully cooked omelet with a ketchup bunny drawn on it.
Yuki noticed the written message on the plate.
"Dear Mayu-sama and Yuki-sama, I really like you!
"
Yuki knew it was part of business for the waitresses to ask nice, but it's the first time she got this much good service.
"Itadakima~su~!"
Mayu was scarfing down her food, her cheeks rosy red from the taste of the food.
Yuki was eating, but slowly...
She was still worried.
Why is Mayu acting like this? Sure, it seems normal, but to Yuki, there's something off.
Mayu looked up at her girlfriend and tapped her shoulder.
"Hey, what's wrong? You seem down."
"Mayu..."
Mayu tilted her head, swallowing her food.
"Is there a reason you're acting like this?"
Mayu jokingly laughed and ate some of her food again.
"What are you talking about? I'm not acting weird..." she said as she sipped her hot chocolate.
"You're acting like you're hiding something!"
Mayu suddenly got silent and her smile disappeared.
"Mayu... what's going on?"
She looked down and looked at something in her pocket.
"Tell me!"
"....I'm...."
She pulled out a folded piece of paper with a seal on it. A letter. Yuki looked at it and opened it.
"Dear Watanabe Mayu-sama,
congratulations on completing your final test as a witch.
Please return to the Magic Realm for your coronation as the new princess.
We shall retrieve you from the human realm at September 10th.""P-princess?"
"I'm sorry, Yuki. But, I just... can't be with you forever."
Yuki shook her head and smiled.
"No... I'm proud of you."
"You.. what?"
"I'm glad to hear it. Congratulations. I hope you're happy..."
"But, Yuki..." She held her chest, trying to hold back her tears. "When I leave... none of you will remember me. You'll all forget about me, as if I was never here."
Yuki gasped, clutching her own heart, too.
She couldn't accept this. She didn't want to forget Mayu.
"Yuki, I'm so sorry..."
Yuki bit her lip, leaving the table. Mayu was left alone, her heart broken.
She was about to leave the new life she made.
And the one person she loved so much.
The day finally came and it was time for Mayu to leave.
Mayu stood in front of the mirror, her one way ticket back to her realm.
She put her hand on the glass, feeling its coldness.
The full moon was about to rise, opening the portal and returning her home. She shed a tear.
"Mayu!"
Someone came up from behind and hugged her.
Of course, Mayu could recognize her, for it was none other than Yuki.
"Mayu, please don't go!" she said crying.
"B-but, Yuki... You said--"
"Forget what I said! You can't leave me! I can't live! I won't be happy without you!"
Mayu turned around and hugged Yuki back.
"You will."
"No, I won't!"
"Yes, you will... I know you will."
She broke the hug and faced her, wiping away her tears.
"Don't be so hard on yourself. Now, you have so many people who love you."
"Yeah, but... Not you."
"Yuki. Promise me this. You'll make it, if you promise to never, ever stop being you. You can do it, I just know it."
Yuki wiped off the rest if her tears and smiled sadly.
"Promise..."
The two hugged again and kissed each other deeply.
The moon finally rose and shone on the mirror.
It started shining and glowed a bright white light. The portal was open.
Mayu broke the kiss and backed away.
"Goodbye, Yuki..."
She disappeared into the mirror and went away. Forever.
The whole room became bright around Yuki and she shut her eyes, tight.
Her mind went blank and she fell asleep.
The moment she opened her eyes, she was back in her room and the sun was shining.
She was sitting at her desk, working on something for school, and she fell asleep.
Then, she looked down at her wrist. There was a single cut.
"What the-?"
She called her mom and had her look at it.
She wrapped it in gauze and went back up to her room, looking at her blank notebook.
Slowly, after thinking a few minutes, she picked up her pencil and started writing.
"I want to see you so much... that it makes me want to cry..." She spun it in her hand, thinking of lyrics that came from what seemed like a dream.
A dream she tried to remember, but couldn't.
She smiled and wrote again.
"I want to cross this sky flying right now..."
Her eyes darted and she saw a wrapped candy. She opened it up and saw it was a chocolate.
"Chocolate?"
She put it in her mouth and chewed it, tasting the sweet inside as it melted in her mouth.
"... Oishii....."
She looked back at her paper, and smiled again.
"When tomorrow comes, maybe I'll be able to meet you. I can't go back..."
2 years later...The orange crescent moon
at the end of the sky looks like its sulking
couldn't you at least call me?
you are irritating
I've been waiting for a long time...
I understand
that you are busy with your work today, but
walking alone on the asphalt my footsteps are too lonely
I want to kick one of the empty cans on the street
I want to see you so much
that it makes me want to cry
I want to cross this sky flying right now
Why is it that I grew to love you like this?
I didn't want us to become so serious
it's the evening wind's deed
How much should I wait
to meet you?
I wonder if I'll be here until the break of dawn like this?
Why is it that I grew excited like this?
when tomorrow comes maybe I'll be able to meet you
I can't go back"YUKIRIN~!!!"
After graduating high school, Yuki became a well known actress, a gravure princess, and an idol to all.
After she left the stage, she went back to her dressing room and saw someone there.
"Sae?"
Sae turned her head and smiled when she saw her.
"Yukirin!"
She ran up and hugged her tight.
"Sae, it's been ages! What are you doing here?"
"I saw your concert. You were amazing, as always. I'm so proud of you."
She giggled. "Thanks, Sae."
Then, Sae's phone rang in her pocket. She took it out and answered it.
"Hello? Ah, Sayaka! Sorry~, I was at Yukirin's concert... Ufufu, yeah~. Don't worry. I'll be right there... Promise... Okay, bye-bye. *Chu!* See ya later."
"Who was that? Your girlfriend?"
"Hahah, yeah... Sorry, I gotta go. See you next handshake event?"
"Okay..."
They hugged again and Sae left for her to change.
Yukirin looked through her outfits and saw the one she wanted for her next TV event.
After packing up, she got into her limo and talked to her manager on the phone.
"
Hey, Kashiwagi. You finished?"
"Yeah. Where am I headed next?"
"
ZIP is going to interview you about your next single. There's going to be another idol like you performing."
Yuki's eyes widened.
"Really?"
"
Yeah. And apparently, she's a big fan of yours. Two idols meeting could really raise up business. Be sure to get in good with her."
"Sure."
"
Okay, See ya at the studio."
"Bye."
She hung up and looked out the window.
She saw a poster of an idol who looked very cutesy. A perfect idol image.
"'Magical little witch of the idol world,' huh?" She repeated it in her head.
She couldn't help but let it feel so... nostalgic.
"Witch"
That name reminded her of a candy shop she used to go to 2 years ago, until it suddenly shut down.
Once she got to the studio, she saw a girl already preparing her next performance.
She looked closer and saw it was the same girl in the poster she saw on her way here.
While she was warming up, she looked and her eyes instantly met Yuki's.
She smiled and waved at her. Yuki waved back.
"Are you ready, Watanabe-san?"
Watanabe got her attention back and turned to them.
"Ah! Yes."
"Okay. Let's go, everyone! In 5, 4, 3..."
He signaled them and started shooting.
"And now, promoting her new single, with her song 'Sayonara no Hashi,' Watanabe Mayu-san!"
If I stretch my hand out from here
It feels like I could reach it
It looks bigger than usual
The setting sun
Fun occassions
End in the blink of an eye
Why is it that
The hands of time were moving so quickly?
The time we spent looking out the classroom window
The scenery from that day recedes into my memories
I loved you
I loved you
My heart finally realized it
I loved you
I really loved you
'Goodbye' taught me that
In a corner of the schoolyard
Stands a cherry tree bereft even of leaves
Could a promise made underneath it
Really come true?
Memories are always more beautiful than reality
Because, little by little, important things come to be forgotten
On the path to the station I walked with you
The scenery of the future is around the next corner
I loved you
I loved you
My first love was my first determination
I loved you
It was a childish love
'Goodbye' won't teach me that
I loved you
I loved you
My heart finally realized it
I loved you
I really loved you
'Goodbye' taught me that
'Goodbye' is a bridge to the futureAs shooting ended, they all applauded and cheered her name to fill the studio.
"Mayuyu!!! Mayuyu!!! Mayuyu!!!"
Yuki just stood there amazed. She clutched her own heart, it was beating so fast.
She felt she was on the verge of tears.
"Why...? Why is it
this fast?"
After they interviewed the cute idol, she went up to Yuki, smiling.
"Y-Yu-Yu-Yukirin!"
"Ah! Mayuyu, you were really good up there."
"Honestly, I was so nervous! But, when I saw you come in, I felt a bit more relaxed. I've always wanted to meet you!"
"Really?"
"Yeah! I... I absolutely LOVE you, Yukirin!"
Yuki covered her cheeks, she was blushing.
"Well, it's very nice to meet you, Mayuyu," she said shaking her hands.
However, when she looked up, Mayu looked... strange.
She was sad... Or, really, she couldn't tell.
She almost had no emotion.
"Mayuyu?"
She looked up at her and met her dark, lifeless, cold eyes.
They were piercing into her, leaving her frozen.
She let go of her hands and stood there like a statue.
Her heart felt like it was breaking, seeing such a sad girl... A poor girl...
"Kashiwagi? Kashiwagi!"
She finally snapped out of the trance and looked up at the camera man.
"Yes?"
"You're about to go on."
"Oh, okay..."
She walked up and sat down at her chair, watching Mayu go backstage somewhere.
She sighed a bit and slapped her cheeks, trying to concentrate on her work.
"Alright, pull yourself together, Yuki..."
"In 5, 4, 3..."
"Our next guest today is a rising star, already reaching third place in the Oricon charts, Kashiwagi Yuki-san."
The audience applauded again, but she noticed it wasn't as loud as Mayuyu's cheers.
"Kashiwagi-san, you're about to release your new single. What kind of song is it?"
"Mm~, it's a kind of love song. A girl is wanting to confess to her childhood friend after they've been together forever. It's a really sweet and heartwarming song."
"And what's the name of it?"
"'Shortcake.' We just finished recording yesterday."
"Oh! Are you going to perform it soon?"
"Yes. My first live performance will be on Mujack, so everyone please watch, okay?"
"Okay~!!!"
Yuki giggled and covered her cheeks again, blushing.
She couldn't help but glance back at where Mayu just was.
"We saw you talking to Watanabe-san earlier. Are you two good friends?"
"Uh, no, this is the first time we've met face to face. But, she seems to know me really well..."
"Well, it's great to see idols supporting one another."
Yuki giggled again, but she couldn't help but feel sorry for the little idol.
She must've really been suffering for some reason.
She just didn't know what. All she wanted to do was help her.
After shooting ended, she went back to the dressing room and saw Mayu sitting alone eating jelly beans.
She walked over and tapped her shoulder.
Mayu turned around and met her cold eyes again.
She bit her lip and shook her head a bit, relishing her senses to focus and talk to her.
"Ano... Is something wrong, Mayuyu? You can talk to me. I wanna help."
"...Yuki."
Yuki felt her heart skip a beat. Mayu called her by her name instead of her nickname.
"Do you remember me, Yuki?"
"Well, of course. You're an idol."
She put her hand on her shoulder, but Mayu got up and forced it off.
"That's not what I meant. We've met before, but you don't remember me. Why?"
"W-we have?"
Mayu walked over to the table and sat down.
She took a wrapped candy and started unraveling it.
"That... That's the candy from the shop I used to visit! Where did you get that?"
"I made it..."
"What?! How did you know the recipe?!"
"I created the recipe... The shop belonged to me and my family..."
"No way..."
She took the chocolate I her mouth and chewed it slowly.
Yuki tried to call her again, but she was ignoring her.
She finally gave up on helping her and decided to leave, but then Mayu suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her close.
Her lips instantly met hers and Yuki could instantly taste the chocolate inside her mouth.
Mayu kissed her deeply, refusing to let go.
In her mind, Yuki was trying to process what happened, but her head was all fuzzy and she couldn't think.
Her body wasn't moving and she couldn't resist. Nothing was cooperating with her.
Yuki closed her eyes and felt her heart grow warm.
Her head was filled with visions of her, and the girl in front of her, together in high school.
And Mayu.. she was a witch. She helped her. Helped in her sorrow and darkness. Helped get her life back.
She was her savior. Her lover.
"Mayu..."A tear shed down her cheek and she started returning the kisses.
She clinged onto Mayu's shoulders and the two fell down on the couch together.
They finally broke the kiss, the taste of chocolate still lingering.
Yuki giggled and wiped her thumb on Mayu's lips.
"You've got chocolate all over your face."
Mayu took her finger and wiped Yuki's lips.
"You do too."
"Mayu, I thought you had a coronation. Why are you back here?"
"I didn't want to stay there. When I left you, I realized I needed you more than anything." She held up the wrapper. "This was my last spell."
"What?"
"I used the last ounce of my magic to help you remember me again. I gave up everything I had to stay here, in this world, with you."
Yuki sat up and looked at the wrapper.
"You... You gave up all your magic just for me?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because, no ounce of magic," she said holding her cheek, "can compare to how much I love you."
She kissed her again, softly, and Yuki didn't resist anymore.
Her heart was pounding endlessly and she felt so happy.
Her love was finally back where she belonged; in her arms.
And, this time, they could be together. Forever and ever. And magic couldn't compare to their love.
---The End---
