In January 2006, ayaka recorded "I Believe" as the ending theme for the Japanese Drama, Rondo. At the time of its premiere, Rondo was one of Japan's highest rated dramas and is credited with exposing "I Believe" to wide audiences. The full single was first released as a downloadable only single and would go on to become the fastest downloadable song to reach 1,000,000 sales as well as becoming the 2nd highest selling downloadable debut single for a female artist.
"I Believe" was officially released on February 2nd, 2006 and debuted as the 3rd highest single of the week. The single would go on to stay in the top ten for six more weeks as well as selling a total of 220,000 copies in its entire chart run. An English cover of the song was used by Miki Ando (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miki_Ando) in the 2006 Winter Olympics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Winter_Olympics) and the 2006 edition of Skate America (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skate_America) which Ando would go on to win.

Her next single is Winding Road on February 28th. It is a collaboration with Kobukuro. The song is tied-up to the Nissan Cube CM :)

Ah, I like ayaka, ever since I watced Rondo, that I Believe song kicked ass, and when I watched Sapuri I loved her song for that as well, I'm glad she ended up very successful with Mikazuki and her debut album.

Ayaka is one of my favorite artist. I love her song "三日月".
Some of my personal favorite from her album "First Message" would be "Start to 0 (Love)", "BLUE DAYS", and all her singles!!!

Hiro Mizushima, Ayaka married since February

Popular actor Hiro Mizushima (24) and singer-songwriter Ayaka (21) surprised the entertainment industry on Friday when they held a press conference announcing that they recently married. In addition, it was revealed that Ayaka will be putting her music career on hold.
The two apparently first met three years ago, but it wasn't until a magazine interview last spring that their relationship began to develop. The pair started seriously dating in August. They decided to register their marriage on February 22.
Mizushima explained, "She is indispensable to me. I thought, if I let go of her, I'll regret it my entire life." Ayaka commented, "My first impression of him was that he had really powerful eyes, and he could completely see through me. Right now, he is someone I respect from the bottom of my heart."
It was also learned that immediately after Ayaka's debut in 2006, she became ill with Graves' disease, an autoimmune disorder. Ayaka tearfully reported that her symptoms have been increasing. As a result, Ayaka will continue with her music until the end of this year, after which she will put her career on hold. Mizushima promised to protect and support her.

Pretty surprising to hear. They make a pretty good couple, I guess.
I'm more shocked at to hear about her illness. Hope she gets better and gets the proper treatments.

But if he married her because he pities her for her condition, wouldn't say that's the right reason either.

Ayaka to release best album
Popular singer Ayaka (21) will be releasing a best album on September 23, titled "Ayaka's History 2006-2009." The collection will include all of Ayaka's singles to date, and the limited edition will have ten more songs voted on by fans. In April, Ayaka announced that she married actor Hiro Mizushima (25) and that she would be suspending her singing career at the end of this year due to Graves' disease. This album will span her entire career so far, from her debut single "I believe" in 2006 up to her latest song, "Minna Sora no Shita," released a few weeks ago.
The regular edition of "Ayaka's History" contains one disc with 16 tracks - 13 songs from all 10 of her CD singles (three were double A-sides), 2 songs from her collaborative singles with Kobukuro, and her digital-only single "For today." The limited edition of the album will include a second disc with 10 songs, chosen by fans from the rest of her entire discography. The limited edition also comes in two flavors, one packaged with a photobook and the other with a DVD of music videos and other clips.

Ayaka's final concert to be shown in theaters
On November 18, singer Ayaka (21) performed at the Osaka-jo Hall, her last solo concert before she goes on hiatus at the end of this year. Due to strong interest from her fans, it has been decided that the concert will be shown in select theaters across the country.
Ayaka sang a total of thirteen songs for the concert, which was titled "MTV Unplugged ayaka." MTV gave away 10,000 free invitations to the event, though 200,000 fans had applied. Because of the response, MTV is putting together an "MTV Unplugged ayaka - cinema edition" for theatrical screening.
The video will play at 13 theaters ranging from Hokkaido to Fukuoka, including Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo. The screenings are currently scheduled for an 8-day run starting on January 5, 2010. Each venue will hold between 1 and 4 showings in a day, with an estimated total audience of more than 43,000 people throughout Japan. Tickets became available on December 11, but more showings may be added, depending on sales.

The covers and track list for ayaka’s long-awaited comeback album have finally been revealed!
As J-Pop fans might remember, the talented singer-songwriter went on hiatus towards the end of 2009 due to health issues. She’s finally ready to return with a new album titled “The beginning“, which will get released on February 1st.
The album is available in two editions: a limited CD+DVD version (which comes with a photo booklet), and a regular CD-only version. “The beginning” is also ayaka’s first release since switching to her own independent label, A stAtion........(for rest of story click on link above)

Ayaka has revealed the short PV for her new single "number one" that's slated for release on February 19.
"number one" is Ayaka's first single of 2014. It was written as the theme song for Fuji TV's broadcast of the upcoming Sochi Olympics.

Ayaka & Mizushima Hiro Expecting their First Child
On the 26th, it was reported that Mizushima Hiro (30) and wife, singer Ayaka (27) are epecting their first child.
Through a joint statement via their agency, they announced “We have been blessed with a new life”. Ayaka is currently 4 months pregnant. She will continue her work activities, including participating in NHK “Kohaku Uta Gassen”, until around spring of next year.
During their marriage press conference, it was announced that Ayaka is suffering from Graves’ disease. “Even after returning, I have always placed my health ahead of everything. After my doctor check up at the end of last year, my results show I am in a stable condition” she stated “It was a big opportunity to discuss having a child, which led to this moment”.
“We can only pray that this small life will grow healthily, Please watch over us warmly.”
The two scretly married in 2009 and announced the marriage in April of the same year.

Ayaka to release first original album in 3 years

It's been revealed that Ayaka will release a new album, titled "Rainbow Road", on April 15.
Ayaka wrapped up 2014 by announcing her pregnancy and performing on 'The 65th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen'. "Rainbow Road" will mark her first original album since "The beginning", which was released at the time of her comeback 3 years ago. The upcoming album will be available for purchase in 4 different types: 3CD+DVD Edition, 3CD Edition, CD Edition, and Room Ayaka Edition. In addition to her already released songs, such as "Tsuyoku Omou", "beautiful", "Arigatou no Wa", "number one", and "Nijiiro", the album will include a handful of brand new songs.
The 3CD Editions will also contain live audio tracks from her nationwide tour, 'Nijiiro Acoustic Live Tour 2014 ~3-STAR RAW~', which wrapped up on December 26. As for the DVD, it will include PVs for her songs, including "Nijiiro".
Furthermore, Ayaka will release a live DVD / Blu-ray featuring footage from the finale of 'Nijiiro Acoustic Live Tour 2014 ~3-STAR RAW~' at Nippon Budokan.

I know it's not "pop"-y music, but her recent iTunes Session EP, especially the English version of Hajimari no Toki, are absolutely fantastic.

Ayaka and Mizushima Hiro have once again proved themselves to be the cutest celebrity couple.
On April 7, Ayaka updated her blog with an entry titled "Thank you". She revealed that her new album "Rainbow Road" (April 15 release) is complete and showed confidence in her work saying, "I'm happy... too happy... I've completed an album that I can proudly call a masterpiece in my music career."
Ayaka then uploaded a photo of a plate full of cake, which was a present from her husband, actor Mizushima Hiro. She started off by saying, "My husband secretly prepared cake as a 'congratulations!'" and commented on the surprise, "I was so happy and the cake was so delicious. I was about to cry." She continued by expressing her gratitude towards her husband, "Everyday he is doing his best and working at full stretch for the company, for my works, and for our family. I owe him so much. It's because of him that I can sing the songs I love, and create works that I am satisfied with. Rainbow Road is, without a doubt, an album that we created together. Thank you always for everything."
The couple tied the knot back in 2009, and is now expecting their first child.

Ayaka has uploaded the PV for her song "Birthday Song" onto her official YouTube channel.
"Birthday Song" can be found on Ayaka's new album 'Rainbow Road' which was just released on April 15th. This song was written for her baby who will be making its grand entrance into the world soon. In the PV, you can see Ayaka singing to her pregnant belly, along with footage of her fans singing along to the song.

Ayaka shows her 9-month belly

On May 21st, Ayaka updated her official blog and shared a photo of her 9-month pregnant belly.
The singer began the entry stating, "I haven't written in awhile, but I'm doing fine." She then reported, "My belly is so tight!! It's so tight that I don't think it can go anymore than this lol."
Ayaka revealed that recently she has been "moderately exercising, eating good things, and going out to buy necessities..." She continued, "I need to spend the remainder of my maternity life carefully."
Seeing a picture of her belly, fans left comments such as, "A little bit more. I hope for a safe childbirth," "Such a big belly," and "Please take care."
Ayaka married actor Mizushima Hiro in February of 2009. The couple announced that they are expecting their 1st child back in December.

Mizushima Hiro and Ayaka celebrate the birth of their first child

On June 19, singer-songwriter Ayaka updated her official blog, announcing the birth of her first child, a baby girl.
"Dear everyone," she began, continuing with, "Every time I look at our child's calm sleeping face, I can't help but to be happy. The moment she was born, it was like God gave us a wink. That is how happy and grateful she is making us feel."
Ayaka also expressed her gratitude, "When I think about how this journey has led me to this safe delivery, I am full of gratitude for all of my life experiences and encounters. Thank you very much." She then stated, "Without forgetting that we have received this precious life from God as someone who will create a future, I will take care of her carefully."
Ayaka's blog entry was signed jointly with her husband, actor Mizushima Hiro. According to their agency, Mizushima was also present at the hospital to witness the birth of their child. He also uploaded their first family photo onto his official Instagram account. He expressed his joy of becoming a father, "I'm a dad (https://instagram.com/p/4F2y0yFFfy/)."
Ayaka and Hiro married in February of 2009. They had announced last December that they were expecting their first child. Ayaka will officially resume her activities with her tour "Ayaka Rainbow Road TOUR 2015-2016 ~Michi wa Tsuzuku yo~".

Ayaka & Mizushima Hiro enjoy their first date after becoming parents

On August 14th, singer-songwriter Ayaka updated her blog and shared that she and her husband, actor Mizushima Hiro went out on a lunch date for the first time in a long while.
The couple celebrated the birth of their first child in June. In her blog, Ayaka wrote, "Out to lunch with my husband," and uploaded a photo of herself enjoying their lunch. "I'm thankful for my mother who told us to get out of the house for a breather," she revealed.
Earlier, on August 5th, Ayaka had written on her blog, "My husband and I are working hard and enjoying childrearing." Not only has Mizushima been supporting Ayaka with childrearing, but also with her music activities. The couple worked together for her upcoming tour "Ayaka Rainbow Road TOUR 2015-2016 ~Michi wa Tsuzuku yo~" which will kick off in November. She showed that they are getting ready for the tour saying, "I am currently thinking about the set list!" and "I will make this the best tour!!"

Ayaka to hold 10th anniversary live in February

Singer Ayaka, who gave birth to a baby girl in June, will hold a live concert on her 10th anniversary day, February 1 of next year, at Yoyogi National Gymnasium.
Ayaka updated her official blog on September 8 and commented on the anniversary concert, "I'm so happy~ It's already been 10 years. When I think about it, I am deeply moved." She expressed, "I am grateful to everyone who has supported until now. I will make it the best stage!!"
Ayaka has no time to rest with her nationwide tour "Rainbow Road TOUR 2015-2016 ~Michi was Tsuzuku yo~" scheduled to begin in November. As it is still a very sensitive time for her newborn child, Ayaka apologized to her fans for not being able to hold too many concerts nor visit too many locations this time.
Ayaka made her major debut on February 1, 2006 with the single "I believe". She married actor Mizushima Hiro in February of 2009.

Ayaka announces 10th anniversary tour

Singer-songwriter Ayaka held a special live at Yoyogi National Gymnasium on the day of her 10th debut anniversary, February 1.
Ayaka kicked off the live with her hit song "Mikazuki". During her first MC segment, she said, "It's already been 10 years. I can't express in words how happy I am to have worked with the music I love these past 10 years and that I was able to reach this milestone with everyone. Thank you!" Following this, Ayaka sang a variety of her songs including her second single "melody" and her first single after her comeback "beautiful". In the middle of her concert, she recalled a day in February 10 years ago when she spent the entire day going to radio stations and CD shops. She also shared that during the time she went on hiatus due to Graves' disease, she realized that she couldn't live without music.
After a wardrobe change, Ayaka began the second half of her concert with "Tsuyoku Omou", then continued by singing "Te wo Tsunagou" and covering Alicia Key's "If I Ain't Got You". During "No end", "Have fun!!", and "Nijiiro", Ayaka got the crowd involved in a call and response. Finally, she closed the main part of her live with "Minna Sora no Shita", which she regarded as an "important song that connected me with everyone."
Ayaka took the stage for an encore and performed fan favorites, such as "Yume no Mikata ni" and "WINDING ROAD". Before the finale, the singer called out to the crowd, "In the next 10 years, I will aim for even greater heights and do my best to continue delivering songs to everyone, so please follow me." She added, "I wrote this song when I was just 16 years old. The feelings that I poured into this song back then haven't changed until now. I hope to believe in my own voice and continue walking forward, one step at a time." She then called it a night with her debut song "I believe".
During this live, Ayaka announced that she would hold a 10th anniversary arena tour later this year. The tour schedule can be seen below.
