Powerhouse idol group AKB48 is continuing their crossover into the manga world with two projects that will both depict AKB48 members in comic form. One, titled "AKB49 ~Renai Kinshi Jourei~," will run in Weekly Shonen Magazine, while the other, titled "Uzarino," will run in Weekly Young Jump. "AKB49" will be about AKB48 itself, told from the point of view of a fictional heroine who passes the group's kenkyuusei audition. Actual members of the group, including Yuko Oshima (21) and Atsuko Maeda (19), will make appearances as characters in the manga. The series will be drawn by relatively new artist Reiji Miyajima, who wrote the manga "Suzuki no Shiten" (which also appeared in Weekly Shonen Magazine). "AKB49" will first appear in next week's issue (on sale August 25).

The other project, "Uzarino," will be in a 4-panel format, with Rino Sashihara (17) as the main character, along with appearances by other members of AKB48. The manga appears to be separate from Sashihara's solo manga project that was announced last month. This one will be drawn by Madoka Matsuura, best known for "Uhha! Harlem Gakuseiryo." Serialization begins on September 8.

Hello. I registered at the forums a while ago but I couldn't come with any adequate thoughts to share with people. But I think I should make my first post after all. Just so that you know. Since last year I’m heavily addicted to anything related to AKB48.

So I happened to read the first chapter of the new manga and I liked it. I like the design and the plot is good too.

So, to get straight to the point. I thought it would be nice to have it in English so I came up with a translation. I don’t promise to do something like that in the future. Because you know, I have only a few days of holidays left.

There can be some mistakes, I’m not a professional translator. Also I should say that I’m Russian, English and Japanese are not my native languages. So my phrases can sound a bit awkward or weird. But I’d be more than happy if someone edited this and integrated the text into the manga itself (i.e. made a scanlation).

My translation could be better actually. I'm sorry for various grammar flaws and misprints. But I hope it conveys the main idea.

Also, lately I was contacted by a fellow Russian who has a good sense of humor. He suggested changing several phrases which I did.

I personally like most the new phrase with Sae though there are other noticeable changes as well.
But it’s all done at the expense of the original meaning. So it’s up to you to decide which variant is better.

And I prepared some comic strips. Here’s an example of how I think a good scanlation should look like. I didn’t use any special tools. I’m sure you can do better.

Page one. Note the color text.

Page 12. Nothing special but the newspaper article now has an English heading.

And my favorite page (#15). Yuko’s trying to grab Minoru’s chest.

And it looks like I leave you with that. I have lessons in September so no more free time for me. Sorry.

Hello. I'm more than halfway through with translation of chapter 2.
If everything's OK with my spare time I'm gonna finish the work by tomorrow.

I've already read the new chapter to the end. It's pretty understandable. Again, my English is awkward like last time but the translation is almost word-for-word.

I read it 2 times after I typed it and fixed some of my own mistakes. It looks acceptable for me now but then there’s no guarantee the translation is 100% accurate. Hope you like it though and you’re more than welcome to edit it.
