I hate it when they throw moments like that at us. First, it's pretty blatant fanbase-manipulation on the part of the show-writers, but I feel even worse about watching because I feel like I'm violating the girls' personal lives. It's almost worse than a stalker digging up that kind of information because when the show calls them out on really personal stuff like that, they have no choice but to talk about it to be polite. I hate it when my life and work mix, and when their work ensures that people are always prying into their life the few bits of privacy left have got to be even more precious. Then things like this take even that away. Yeah, sure we learn how strong she is that she can talk about things like this on camera, but that doesn't justify it.

Having only watched the cut I didn't get the context of it & I assumed each of the girls were sending a msg to their grandparents and then it was Sunny's turn... if that's what was happening then I wouldn't blame the writers for it happening, but yes they probably should have cut it for her sake... if it was coz of something netizens had dug up then SHAME on them seriously, that's disappointing that people would go that far to know things!

At the same time, it reminds people that they aren't just robot idols who do & say what they are meant to and can be poked about, they are humans with real feelings. In the long run that can be positive in how netizens treat them (although, maybe unlikely considering how crazy dem fans can be).

I do agree that having stuff like this makes them seem like regular people and anytime you can connect with someone on a personal level is all well and good, but at the same time I get this feeling that I have gotten a few times when personal & miscellaneous facts come up. It's not needed to be a fan. Do I really need to know that Sunny's grandparents aren't well? Do I really need to know that Tiffany keeps her movie stubs in her diary and she writes next to each one who she went to watch that movie with?

It is nice to know that celebrities have things happen to them and do things that everyone else does, but at the same time it feels like at least some of the facts that we know of SNSD are not necessary to be a fan.

Edit: On a lighter note, Sunny still has the best sneaker game in SNSD

Sunny has pretty much everyone except maybe Hara at her mercy for doing all of the 'scary' things, and she knows it. She's such a badass.

It's like Shinyoung is the puppet mob boss while she's the not-so-secret shadow king.
