Reminds me way too much of NAMBLA. :lol:

We'll see if this group is worth any attention. Hopefully they'll get more coverage than SDN.

^Their theater will be either Yoshimoto Hall Osaka (http://mugendai-osaka.laff.jp/) or Base Yoshimoto (http://www.yoshimoto.co.jp/base/) according to jasey.

They'll be based in Namba, Osaka, hence NMB  :)

You know, at first I thought SKE48 was a stupid idea, but like Barrie said, they ended up being massive pwnage, so I'll just wait and see. If Osaka is full of awesome, talented hotties like Yuka, we could have some massive win on our hands. :)

Wow! My mind's racing with thoughts right now... and in no particular order;

- I guess having teams SII and KIII is a bit to much for OSK48 huh? Namba's a great location though, glico man and the river where folklore monsters came bursting out of in Gantz. If I'd known I would had put my money on Nipponbashi aka "Den-Den Town" which according to Wiki is often compared to Akihabara Electric Town, its equivalent (in terms of focus) in Tokyo.

- Being the LA to Tokyo's NY, Osaka's bound to have lots of talent. But whoever ends up being the Jurina of NMB better be prepared for some massive travelling between the two cities. The solution maybe NMBINGO...

- Any chance AT ALL Yuka's going home to lead these new bunch of warriors like Cindy did with B? Hope not, but there's a feeling... especially with Yuka not being one of the popular girls and all.

Time will tell but for now, speculate away!

You know, I personally think that really is a terrific idea... in thought. She's probably the most wasted talent in AKB48, especially after they tossed her in to Team leftovers.. I mean, new B. If they'd give her a great spot, I'd support it. I doubt it'd be done that way, though. Look at Nakanishi Yuka and Deguchi Aki in their move to SKE.  :doh:

AKB48 and SKE48 are soon going to get a new sister group. NMB48, named after the Namba area of Osaka, is going to officially launch this fall. The news was announced during an AKB48 concert on Saturday at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium.

NMB48 already has an official website and is currently gathering girls for an audition that will start this summer. The group is expected to start activities in November.

UPDATE: AKB48 also announced that they will perform in Italy this October, followed by performances in Singapore and Macau in November.

As many people have pointed out already, at the very bottom of the website;

Copyright 2010 Kyoraku Yoshimoto Holdings Co., Ltd.

This is quite huge, don't know how I missed it. Has Akimoto finally sold his 48 idol concept? Is it part of a bigger plan to dominate the entertainment scene in Japan?

Whatever it is, I'm just eagerly awaiting the PR stuff the Yoshimoto group has planned for NMB. I mean, just look at the amount of talents they have at their disposal.

There's not much need for a translation, because it's really just an announcement and the publishing of requirements to enter.

However, these lines are interesting:

合格した時点でNMB48と所属契約が出来る方。

Seems like they will offer a contract to anyone who passes the audition? I'm not sure if it's a contract to just tie them down to NMB48, or whether it's one to sign under Yoshimoto. The latter would signify a marked difference between AKB48 itself, which has girls in different agencies but under the AKB48 umbrella as individuals. In any case, this is quite exciting news, because Yoshimoto Kogyo is huge! They're mainly known for signing owarai geinin, which some may recognize, like Sanma or 99 or Downtown. But they have also been expanding from that, and this seems to be one of their new directions.

wow, newsclips much indeed? hahaha.

i wonder how ambitious can akimoto-san get.
will he eventually dominate japan to become some JPN48?

i hope that it doesnt become too overdone till ppl get bored of the extensive widespread of girlgroups. like, saturation of market.

Do they have a SAP (Sapporo) 48? Cause, that would rock!

^ Nope, just SKE48 and, of course, AKB48.

Personally, I'm not sure what to think. Apart of me is excited that there's going to be new girls, stages, etc., but another part of me is pissed that some of them will be pushed as much as Jurina has been. I think I'm more on the pissed off side. :lol:

I would have preferred a 'Team E' over an entirely new group, but whatever. If some of the existing Kenkyuusei transfer over or some ex-Kenkyuusei audition like Yuka and Aki, I'd be more likely to pay attention.
