Not sure why you try to make this a play this down!
For the record, I was/am NOT trying to defend the actions he admitted to. I was not, as you put it, trying to "play it down" because however one looks at it, it IS definitely illegal and hopefully the Japanese authorities deal with him in some way for it. All I was saying was that the articles that I found do not mention anything more severe than the fact that he kissed her. They don't mention anything about him forcing intercourse on (i.e. raping) the girl. Does that mean that he didn't rape her? No. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. If the girl/her family told the police "he raped me" then the Japanese media should be more straightforward in their reporting instead of using euphemisms like "forced indecency". Hell, for all I know, maybe there ARE other news sources out there that are making that claim. If there are, it would be nice if they could be linked/shared here.
What I find most disturbing is that Johnnys talked to the girl and now she won't press charges - so either she was threatened or paid off. I bet this probably happens quite often, in this case the girl had gone to the police first so it got out.
The articles that I linked above say that Johnny's and the girl's family had reached a financial settlement (i.e. they paid her off). Unfortunately Johnny's is that big/that rich/that influencial that they are able to pay people off like this.
I'm in no way a SJW but the amount of sexual harassment/assault/rapes that aren't being brought to justice in Japan is appalling.
If anything, the fact that this problem is still so prevalent in Japanese society today is an indication that Japan NEEDS/SHOULD HAVE more SJWs to open people's eyes there and force them to admit that this is a problem that they need to be dealing with instead of ignoring the way that they have been.
