« on: July 06, 2007, 06:11:52 PM »

AKA Al Gore wants to be a rock star. Save the WORLD! Spread ENVIOREMTNAL awareness by logging into your and watching the event live on the NET via your electricity hogging computer, TV or driving to a stadium near you (that has the concert)!

Feat. Beastie Boys, Kanye West, Madonna, Otsuka Ai, Rihanna, Koda Kumi, and JT among the acts :P

All you need here: http://www.liveearth.org/
Watch here: http://liveearth.msn.com/

Dope lineup tho. Not to be mixed up with Live Aid or Live 8.

Yeah we all know the concert is for artists to inflate their own careers and the message behind it all, to reduce global warming, is somewhat flawed when some 70,000 people are producing enough carbon emissions to harm the planet. I mean there is something ideologically sound at it's core, but yeh, having artists go on ego-trips telling us how to reduce our carbon footprint when they themselves are making a number of trips on private jets isn't the way to do it.

Still, a really big line up of artists, and Russell Brand will be hosting from 9pm onwards from the London show I think

I stayed up (it's nearly 7am here now) to watch Otsuka Ai. That was lovely....... now I think I will sleep until Sunday! Or at least until the London gig starts (5pm GMT).

Couldn't get it here. Fortunately Ai's performance is up on JPS.

The MuchMusic channel up here in Canada broadcast the live performances at the Makuhari Messe concert in Toyko. I saw the last part of ayaka's set, and all of Otsuka Ai's and AI's. :)

I added a link to the full setlist in the Postwhoring thread if anyone's interested.

JPH!P 's kuro808, Fushigidane, ChrNo, Jab & marimari. Always.

WHOA Metallica is on

How's the set so far? It's been on like a ton of channels and I couldn't login last nite, slept in, so missed most of the Asian concerts.

I think the BBC cut out half of Metallica's supposed set list to show Enrique 'fucking' Inglesias  :banghead: They better not have cut out For Whom The Bell Tolls!!

So far the concert has been good. Mostly seen the London show because the BBC interactive service is showing only select artists from Tokyo/Sydney (Shanghai is getting no love at all). Best acts so far from London have been Kasabian, Razorlight, RHCP and so far, Metallica :D But the London crowd is simply poor. There is zero atmosphere. You've got a few dancing and what not, but the vast majority is not contributing, whereas I saw Linkin Park in Tokyo, and the crowd were throwing the devil horns in sync

EDIT

Oh ffs, Metallica seemed to already be playing the best set of the night and what do they do? Cut to Crowded House, who's been shown enough times already! I'm pissed off at that. And even Metallica couldn't raise the atmosphere of the crowd. Feel sorry for anyone else coming afterwards. God knows James Blunt will certainly not raise the mood. More like the majority will want to slash their wrists..

Just watched abingdon boys school performance...they rocked.
Only 2 of the songs they played I know: HOWLING and INNOCENT SORROW.
The other songs were all sung in english.
"Yo, microphone check one, two, what is this? The five foot assassin with the roughneck business"
"Are you my mummy?"
"Hello, Sweetie."
"Who's scruffy looking?"

^ I never heard of them until today. They did indeed rock  Good thing the Foo Fighters weren't cut. Good ol Dave Grohl rocked the stadium down and finally got the crowd going. And I hear people say they can see Madonna's camel toe in HD XD

abingdon boys school is the group that T.M.Revolution is part of now.
The band is named after the famous all boys school in England, Abingdon School.
Some members of the band Radiohead attended that school.

So tired but it's all over now!!

Yeah so last night I stayed up untl 6am to watch Otsuka Ai, then I slept, woke up just in time for the Kyoto concert..... the live stream didn't screen it. They showed Rip Slyme and UA, then repeated their performances, then went to a replay of the whole Tokyo concert and never showed any more from Kyoto (not even in the replay). That was the worst bit of the day.

The BBC's coverage was quite poor. They cut off the last songs of Spinal Tap and Metallica to show stuff that wasn't even live. The Spinal Tap song they cut off was Big Bottom and Metallica and lots of other people went up on stage to play along....... I only know because they came back to it just as the song finished......... ARGH!!!!

Chris Rock was the highlight of the UK show says I :D The Chili Peppers had some technical difficulties before they went on so Chris Rock came out to kill time. Within ten seconds he said "motherf****er" and they quickly cut back to the studio where Jonathan Ross qiuckly apologised
Then later on they stupidly decided to give Chris Rock another chance and had an interview with him and Ricky Gervais in the studio....... a few minutes in and Chris Rock makes a joke that ends with the word "n****r"...... simply beautiful.
