[EN] Concerning S/mileage

S/mileage made their major debut for more than 4 years and a half.
We began as 4 members but on 2011 Ogawa and Maeda successively graduated and the group had to surpass a crisis.
During this crisis 2nd generation members have been added and 6 members composed the group since then. We, as 6 members, had to overcome many things and this year, we have been able to successfully perform at the Budokan, a dream for us.
For S/mileage, it was something really big and we have been able to get more self-confidence by ourselves.
We feel really gratitude towards the 4 members of the 2nd generation.
With the successful Budokan's live, we have reached the point of thinking that S/mileage can do things bigger and bigger.
Then during some habitual discussion with the 2nd generation, we sometimes felt anxiety from them about what will happen to the group if we, the original members, would graduate from S/mileage.
We discussed with our staff, and we will add members from Hello! Pro Kenshuusei. We think that adding new members would be a good stimulus for everyone.
With this new group' start, our name will change as well. We are currently taking applications for this new name.
It was "the first chapter" of S/mileage until now. We think that with the new group's name, we, as 6 members plus the new members will start "the second chapter".
To be able to do what we couldn't do until now, we would like to challenge new things in order to reach this potentiality.

Happy for the trainees, sad for S/mileage because this is the brand they've been building and now they have to sort of start fresh under the new name.
Weird as fuck that this was somehow Ayacho & Kanyon's idea. It definitely sounds like preparation for an exit plan.

S/mileage has changed their group name to "ANGERME."
This announcement was made during the final day of the group's tour "S/mileage Live Tour 2014 Aki ~FULL CHARGE~" held at TSUTAYA O-EAST on December 17.
"ANGERME" was named by member Nakanishi Kana, based off of over 10,000 submissions made by the public.
Nakanishi explained, "I made up the word by combining 'ange', meaning angel in French, and 'larme' meaning tear. I have a tender image for angel, and I named it wishing to spend days having a tender heart like an angel. Also, you shed tears when your feelings are at their height, like when you are too happy or too sad, so I wanted to shed that kind of tears with you guys."
Listening to her, the audience celebrated the new start of the group with a big applause.
ANGERME will be releasing their first single under the new group name, entitled "Taiki Bansei / Otome no Gyakushu" on February 4.
One of the title tracks "Taiki Bansei" was written/composed by Nakajima Takui, and arranged by Suzuki Shunsuke, while "Otome no Gyakushu" was composed by Kawabe Hiroshi and Ueda Tadashi, and arranged by CMJK.

And sadly, Kana will move waaaaay down from the top to the bottom of my S/mileage like-list, up which she was never all that high, but after this she is bottom forever. And cannot graduate soon enough.Whaaaaaatttt are you serious?? She does not deserve to graduate for taking the initiative to come up with the new name for the group, which she probably thought about a lot in earnest. Poor girl gets blamed when there probably is no name at all that fans would have been happy with; maybe staff even chose her suggestion because they realized fans might be less likely to blame a member for coming up with a name (well at least SOME fans), especially a less popular member. And since Japanese fans seem more pissed off about the cheapness of the logo than the name, I'd say it was a success in that sense. Kananan must have been so excited when her suggestion was chosen, I hope she never learns about this BS from foreign fans :smhid

If the new team ruined both of them to the point that even Meimi can't save or salvage, my fury will surpass even sayumi_fan's XDHeh heh, scorn, Meimi-chan is a goddess. She can do any kind of miracles. So I am full of hope that she will save any situation with the new group. For some reason, my own fave lineup of S/mileage was always the 6-nin one which just ended, though I did not dislike the two members who graduated, and their first album was IMHO more entertaining than their second done with 6-nin members. But I live hopeful for the new unit of lacrimous angels, and honestly... that photo muppet and I posted reveals their truly divine nature. It is the most stunning pic of any girl group in recent memory, for me, and eases my suffering over their name to a huge degree. Welcome, Anjirumu :)
...we're all entitled to our own opinions. we're not obligated to like every single thing from this group or from h!p just because we're 'fans' or whatever. and we're certainly able to voice our opinion when we DON'T like something (well at least we SHOULD be able to).Thanks for your words, john_hung ... voicing my opinion has never been a problem, just learning to do it nicely is something I am still working on :P Honestly, what I have appreciated over the years about this forum (and I have been involved in other forums on totally different subjects too) is how overall people here care for one another and encourage one another, and harsh words rarely last long. Truly, even though there are times when I have long gaps away because of life's pressures, if this forum ever disappeared I would feel as if my heart had been ripped out.
^ Hey now I'd just like to point out that out of all the complaints in the thread I only started having a problem when the "g" word was brought into picture. :lol:... and Shirenu '14.996 ... I understand why you were upset by the g word, I hate any graduations really, and also those occasional disappearances without recognition such as Mikitty and others who just walked (or walked the plank when called upon). So no, I don't call for Kananan's departure, and she does add a certain (IMHO) old-fashioned Japanese vibe to the group.
