I'd heard some bad things about this so waited till now to check it out (was worried for my Yuko & Mayu #1/#2 song)

And.... first thoughts... Nogizaka! Second thoughts, a bit like Not Yet!

But then, I kept repeating it.

I really do like the song, its not in your face like Heavy Rotation etc, but has some "AKB-quality" that Nogizaka doesn't. Strangely, Paruru & Kawaei are the utter stars of this first performance, gonna miss them both when they are gone.

Overall, I give this song a

and it has more immediate impact on me than songs like Beginner/Flying Get/Ue Kara Mariko/Manatsu no Sounds Good etc.

Seeing the costume, I thought AKB borrowed Nogizaka's uniforms

I'm still not used to the song, but I will eventually liked it (maybe) over time...
And we still haven't seen the PV, so I will hold my judging until then...

Well, if this title song turned out to be not as good as I hope,
at least we still have undergirls, next girls, and future girls...
So far the undergirls songs never let me down

Gingham Check: I really, really like it. I like it so much better than Flying Get. It's fun, energetic, pleasant to listen to... all-around good.
Show Fight: Sounds cool but kinda typical. Good, though.
Next Girls: *chops foot off* Nurse Aamin report to Data's room.

It does sound similar to some other AkiP releases. Maybe it's because the same producer has been writing for several groups for several years.

As long as the basis for the sound is something I like and has fun elements to it, doesn't bother me one bit. Not everything can be a Beginner or a Heavy Rotation. Epic releases are epic because they are exceptional, not the norm. Just because something is not quite 'exceptional' doesn't mean it can't be a cool release.

Wow. I took a break off the forum for a few days, and suddenly 2 more pages worth of posts has been already up.
I guess I need to check more huh..

My expectations for the A-side was based on the Future Girls' Show Fight, and I had not heard of Gingham Check at that time.

Once I did hear Gingham Check, it was like a Nogizaka46 single, but it wasn't all that bad, I guess it could grow on people, just like the other singles have.

Being a Yuko oshi, however, the song wasn't really to my expectations, but, oh well, at least I know what I'm getting.

Even with all the doubts regarding Gingham Check, I think this one will be really fun to watch, since the dance and all its gimmicks is actually really cute...
(and goddamn fast thanks to Yuko being center

)

The couplings revealed so far sounds promising too, especially the Next Girls one...

There is only Rena left anyway, and this 18+ SKE line up didn't even have Churi, so Rena is really needed.

The first time I heard Gingham Check I was disappointed.
But now hearing a it a second and third time, I kind of like it!
It you listen to just the song without looking at them in the gingham dresses, it really doesn't have a Nogizaka feel to it.
It kind of has a Yuuhi wo Miteru ka feel to it, to me.
And I like it!
I really like the Future Girls song too...
I think if they had switched A and B sides this single would be more pleasing.
I'm kind of expecting Aki-P to just be like "Surprise! I lied." and switch them...

But that's not going to happen...
