Sunny Hill is a group that debuted on 20th September, 2011 with their single Love Letter. Originally, they were a three-member group consisting of Janghyun, Jubee and Seungah, signed under Vitamin Entertainment. In 2009, they went on hiatus. Kota officially debuted in 2010 in Brown Eyed Girl's Narsha's 'Mamma Mia' MV. Misung is the latest addition to Sunny Hill, joining in May 2011 with the 'Pit-a-Pat' OST, performed by the female members. In 2011, Sunny Hill switched labels to LOEN Entertainment. The group made their comeback in June 2011, gaining greater attention with their Midnight Circus mini-album, intriguing audiences with a macabre circus concept. On the 5th August, 2011, Sunny Hill returned with their fourth single Pray. In spite of the PV being banned on KBS, MBC and SBS, the song reached first place on music sites Dosirak and Bugs charts.

Man, I love Sunny Hill!!! I only got into them about a month ago, but I really like their sound. My favourite songs are 'Pray' and 'Let's Talk About' (I'll tell you why this one is awesome later.) It did take a while for me to get into their pre-Midnight circus stuff, but it's really grown on me :D Even though Janghyung doesn't seem to have much of a presence in their latest work, that was actually his decision for the Midnight circus mini-album, as he's the one who produced it.

This isn't new, but back in 2010, Jubee, Seungah and Kota featured in Narsha's solo song 'Mamma Mia'. MV-wise, it just makes me think of Gaga's 'Telephone' :lol:

As for newer stuff, out of South Korea's electronica scene comes a collab between DJ Clazzi of Clazziquai, rapper MYK and Sunny Hill's Jubee and Kota. The single's called 'Sexy Doll'. I think it came out around December 21st?

I like the MV a lot! The teaser sets it up, making Janghyun out to be the perfect role model ant. Then in this, he gets swayed by the world of grasshoppers, in which they live life the way they want, as opposed to the ants who are just workaholics. Well, swayed by Jubee in particular :P (his face looking at her on TV was just too good XD) Cute ending too. Way to work the moves, Janghyun!! Even with his dorky glasses :lol:

Kota is especially fierce and I love Misung with that hair. Seungah... why did they autotune you? :( Oh well, I guess it helps make it catchier. I wasn't sure what to think of Janghyun from the teaser pics because of his silly hair, but it really suits his character in MV. I'm glad that he has at least a few lines in this song, though the autotune makes him sound like someone out of a Bollywood film :hiakhiakhiak: Jubee is just :luvluv2: That voice :shy2:

The song's pretty darn catchy! Ring-a-ring-a-ling, ring-a-ring-a-ling :note: I'm not sure that it's meant to end in 'ling' though :P I love the banjo/acoustic guitar in there - it gives the song a different feel to others, at least in the intro and outro. The violin really suits as well. Interesting choreography :lol: Seems easy enough. I remember seeing everyone in all the comeback celebration videos doing the headphone thing along with "Ring-a-ring-a-ring" repeatedly:

I'd usually go with the artist's label company, but LOEN Ent has been wrong before :lol: The fuckyeahsunnyhill tumblr also mentions 'Is the White Horse Coming?'

In any case, we'll just have to wait and see.

You know I'm really starting to dig this group. I think I only saw/heard Pray before and it - being a ballad - didn't do that much for me. LOEN call it 'Princess and Prince Charming' whereas most people are calling it 'Is the White Horse Coming?'. It's confusing because the literal translation of the Korean title (as according to Google translate, haha) is 'the white horse is coming'. Short answer: no idea. Just use whichever.

I actually watched the livestream of Music Bank today just to watch their comeback performance. Worthwhile. I really love it when they break it down in that part that was in the teaser.

Kota looks 100x cuter/cooler without all that makeup. Her recent style looks a bit like La Roux's Elly Jackson, anyone? :lol:

I've been getting more into Sunny Hill lately, and if CCM ends up ruining T-ara I might jump ship to this group. :P Besides, I like their symbolism filled songs and videos. I can't help but remember THE original lineup in 2007 when their songs were so "sunny" and bubbly, and there was some sort of love triangle within the group, and Janghyun actually had more lines to sing. That was when I first noticed Seung Ah and said she looked like the Korean Niigaki Risa, esp. in their Ring Back Tone MV

^ I see what you mean with the Niigaki Risa comparison. I actually quite like the original trio. I listen to their songs about as much as I listen to the new group's music. It really is very bubbly and cute, but it grew on me. Look at them now, all cool and smooth. I love that Seung Ah's still a dork, though. I think some fans still ship those original pairings, but then I've mostly only seen Jubee x Janghyun, and that's just some obsessed girl :nervous

Woah yeah, that's Elly's hair for sure. I was saying yesterday that Kota in these promotions is what f(x) Amber should be like all the time :lol:

"Goodbye to Romance" was again written by composer Lee Min Soo and lyricist Kim Eana(or Leena), who also made the previous Sunny Hill tracks "Midnight Circus", "The Grasshopper Song" and "Is The White Horse Coming?", for example. They also did, more recently, Gain's "Bloom" and are responsible for several other good tunes, "Abracadabra", IU's "Good Day" + "You & I", etc..

On this mini-album, it's a different, mellow Sunny Hill, maybe because of xmas time, but frankly I think it's pretty great. They're always a pleasure to listen to and have some of the best instrumentals in k-pop. I don't care much for the ballad opener, but Goodbye to Romance is a really nice track, I love the crescendo of sorts in the end. Still, my fave track has to be 3-Out, a total guilty pleasure kind of tune... a cheerful adventure with an excellent chorus.

So I finally listened to the 'new' Sunny Hill promo song and, boy, did I feel the emotions. It's not really because the song itself was especially moving (well, not that I realised), but more that the sound is really reminiscent of the original Sunny Hill, with Jubee, Seung Ah and Janghyun. I dig it.

Really need to listen to the whole mini-album.

Simultaneously, I never would have seen this song coming, yet it also fits Sunny Hill well!

I wasn't sure if I liked it in the first minute, but now it just seems so right to me. Pretty cute and fun. Seungah's blinking :heart: Once again somewhat reminding me of the old school Sunny Hill style. I find it interesting that the lyrics tell more of a progressive story, rather than just the same chorus over and over again. Though hey, I would never be able to tell if it weren't for the English subtitles.

Final thoughts: not my favourite Sunny Hill, but I do love their experimentation. It's a pretty catchy number.

I like the song, but it sounds like other Kpop songs. I love Darling of all Hearts cause it didn't sound like anything else out of South Korea. Maybe they will do something different the next time.
