Those battle scenes were gloriously awesome. Also  at how the dancing animation is so much better than the regular animation. Looks like Aki-P really poured money into this one, looks promising!

The good:
-Interesting.
-Great acting on behalf of the girls whose characters appeared in this episode. Karen especially. I didn't expect that from her.
-Above average production quality. I was worried this might be a wonky-animated, dating sim BGM, mediocre mess production-wise, but it's really pretty good.

The bad:
-Premise needs a LOT more setup/explanation. As we said in our mini-watch party.. <Masa> what the fuck is going on lol

I'm excited for more. It's pretty good. :thumbup

Karen Iwata was very impressive.

And hats off to Amina Sato.........she can finally use that little girl voice of hers to it's ultimate strength :twothumbs

Rena's such an anime otaku.  I'd do my usual "One of us! One of us!  :panic:" thing, but I'm not much for anime anymore.  :nervous

Glad Rena has her priorities in check.
If she was speaking in order of importance:
1. Mechs
2. Cool PV
3. Mechs
4. Supporting group members
5. Finding the channel :sweatdrop:

Darn, I want to get home now to watch this. :banghead:

We have a another subbing group!

http://evetaku.com/blog/2012/04/guerrilla-idols-in-space/

--- Update!

AKB0048  Episode 01  subbed!

http://evetaku.com/blog/2012/04/akb0048-episode-01-released/

Weeeeeee’re finished!

As mentioned earlier, the ED song is not included because I was missing one or two important lines that I didn’t want to guesslate. You can find a partial translation here.

Two subtitle tracks, one for fancy karaoke (default) and one for less fancy karaoke.

Enjoy!

My thoughts.

1. High production values: The animation during the concert scene was particularly good. Considering the staff they have working on this, I would have been very surprised if it didn't have high production values. Of course, if we're going to get any wonky animation it'll be later on when the budget starts running low. Though, since they are working with what is arguably the hottest property in Japan right now, the budget on this might not be much of a problem.  :)

2. Really good acting (from the AKB girls): Again, not too much of a surprise to me, since they did actually audition the girls beforehand. They were able to pick the best voices for the show. Amina's voice, in particular, is perfect for Anime.

3. No explanation of the setup in Episode one: I'm not really bothered by this. A lot of anime don't explain everything that's going on right off the bat. I'm sure that we'll have some sort of "history lesson" either during the auditions or the Kenkyuusei training.

All in all, I enjoyed it a lot. It wasn't the best first episode I've ever seen, but I'll definitely be back for the second one.

All that said, the best part of the first episode for me, hands down, was Takamina's hair ribbon.  :twothumbs

Oh yeah, I was going to mention the deadly ribbon of righteous justice- that was Takamina all the way!

I don't watch a lot of anime, and based on the initial previews I was thinking of skipping this show...
However, since everybody's first thoughts were so positive and the subbed version came out super quickly I decided to watch it anyway.

I'm glad I did! +1 on all the previous comments. Digging the environments and 0048's performance looked really cool.
There are a lot of interesting themes, which relate to current AKB48 as well as the fans. Should be interesting to see how this show will continue  :yep:

Pretty good. :) Dance animations were really fluid. Basic kids go on a journey story, fits AKB though.
Tech was cool, like the light bike tire.
Karen, Amina and Sayaka did great.

And now there's the mystery on where Mayuyu's character went to get everyone hooked. Evil anime producers. :nervous
