Title: Family Guy
Post by: daigong on March 19, 2005, 11:31:59 AM
It's THE GRIFFINS!

(http://img202.exs.cx/img202/1575/b00008ygrv015bj.jpg)

Probably my favorite show even though its on mass reruns. I've probably seen all the episodes (except that banned one that appears only on the DVDs) thanks to Teletoon (http://teletoon.com).

The whole concept of a talking dog and baby blended well with Peter's 80's fantasies. I love all those complex fight scenes they have.

What's your favorite moments? characters? Discuss!

Sweetness!!  I hope they have a midget to play Stewie.  Then they could just put a mask on him shaped like a football and put big cardboard eyes on it, and leave his mouth free so he can breathe and talk.  The role of Quagmire will probably be hella fun to play.   :twisted:   Ooooooh, right, giggidy giggidy giggidy!

I DL'ed that episode from Suprnova.org (before it died, obviously) and to be honest, I couldn't really get why it was banned from airing in the first place.  I mean, considering how it's not uncommon to poke fun at other cultures nowadays, this episode didn't seem that bad.  I mean, they definitely could have done worse.

I think it may have had something to do with being on Fox in primetime - and for being racist to a whole culture, without having a character there to interrupt the song and bitch slap Peter with a minora.  He just came a bit later.

actually the irony of it all is that the banned episode was aired uncensored in Germany first before it aired censored in America.

Thx for the episode Boxy Brown!!!  :bounce:

Yeah, the fact that almost every race was insulted, the mentally challenged, gays also got insulted too. Whoa. haha fuckin funny episode though. "Milk Milk Lemonade! Around The Corner Fudge Is Made!"

Brian has to be my favorite character, I like how they phased him out the "I'll go chew on my ass.." to just being the guy who tells it straight to Peter.

And damn...hope someone gets a cam into that stage show!

"Dear stupid dog, I've gone to live with the children on jolly farm. Good bye forever. Stewie.

P.S. I never got a chance to return that sweater Lois gave me for Christmas. Umm, I left the receipt on top of my bureau. I'm probably over the thirty day return limit but umm… I'm sure if you make a fuss they'll at least give you a store credit or something. Umm.. It's actually not a horrible sweater. It's... It's just I can't imagine when I would ever wear it you know? Oh I also left a button on the bureau. I'm not sure what it goes to, but I can never bring myself to throw a button away. I know that as soon as I do I'll find the garment it goes to and then it'll… Wait a minute, could it be from the sweater? Did that sweater have buttons? Hmm… Well I should wrap this up before I start to ramble. Again, goodbye forever.

P.P.S. You know, it might be a little chilly in London, I'm actually going to take the sweater."

Anyone love watching Family Guy?  Just saw a wtf! scene... So today's episode was the frog one, and the begining sequence started with this Columbian Cartel  plane crashing but as they were jumping out of the plane they started shouting and there were Korean subtitles... Don't understand why.. haha I guess that's what makes it funny  :lol:

Word. The irrelevant humor makes it so funny!  That was a great episode. The whole licking the toad euphemisms "Doing Kermit" etc. GOT TO GIVE IT UP!! GIVE UP THE TOAD NOW! Less than a month and we get new episodes!!  :twisted:

Stewie and Brian's relationship seems a little different than usual too... it will be interesting to see how that develops.

Thanks for the leak Son Goku!!! I loved that first part of the show when [spoilers] Peter lists all the "good FOX shows that would have to be canceled in order for them to come back".  That was one MAJOR slap in the face for the people who created those shows.  Bravo!!!   :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

First time i watched it. Good to see that they brought back EVERYONE.  I mean, it was like a re-pilot I guess. When the hell did Brian have a car?? Or Tom Tucker's son went to school with Chris? Average episode. Hope to see what they can do in the next few weeks.

Should we have a topic for American Dad? I watched that and it was a lot funnier than FG episode. Esp. that co-worker who was "emasculated" !! C'mon, animated nudity FOX? Relax  :lol:

I just watched the second ep of the 4th season and I got to say it still fucking owns.
Compared to American dad its on its own level above american dad.
It's cool that FOX decided to take it back. I sure hope theyll do the same thing for Futurama. And I hope American dad will turn out to be better than the first three episodes have shown. It has great potential.

Oh man what an awsome episode tonight. First off, I always loved god's personality and the fact that he was in two jokes tonight was just sweet!

Second, THE CHICKEN RETURNS! OMG I did not see that coming. They spent like a good 3 minutes or so for just that one scene!

I also liked that little spoof they did for Star Wars. Although a bit cliche, I still found it pretty amusing.

In conclusion, this ep. ROCKS!

The next two weeks (May 22 and 29, respecively) will have no new eps of "Family Guy" and "American Dad" because of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of The Clones (5/22) and the NASCAR Nextel Cup Coca-Cola 600 (5/29). New eps will return June 5 with "Don't Make Me Over" on "Family Guy" where Meg becomes the Quahog Idol.

New episode, what'd you guys think?? Meg Gets a Makeover. Sorta amusing, I did like the whole Jailbaits mention.

I don't think The Clam is gone cos I'm guessing it got famous again after the Karaoke scene. Speaking of that, I wanted to see more of "Fat, Horny, Black and Joe". :lmao:

The ending with Brian was fricken hilarious.

Today's episode again was weird. So Cleveland and Loretta got separated and Brian isn't racist anymore? Ah well, the funniest part though was when Lois pulled down her pants and Brian slapped her ass. And Peter's random copter, etc.

I dunno, it just seems to be random references and not much of a story. I mean, even the Christmas episode had some sort of plot:

Quote from: Family Guy"

Brian: You're really going to take back donated gifts on Christmas Eve?
Peter: Yes, now here's the plan. We'll enter through the air conditioning duct here, which will be guarded by lasers three inches above the floor. Now you'll have to squeeze yourself to the size of about a sponge and then crawl across the floor like a dolphin or some other amphibious mammal.
Brian: Can I buy some pot from you?

This week's Bachelorette one just had me laffing over and over. Esp. Stewie at the end going "You gonna write that novel Brian?? hmmmm?" and sounded like he was gonna burst. Joe stepping on the bag of shit "DOO DEEE" and Bonnie goes "I'll change you in a minute!" ... Chris vs his Zit and causing trouble round town was great too. Finally original shit.

It was a good episode tonight I thought.

The Take On Me part was the highlight, but lots of good lines in Asiantown and the Quagmire bit.

No American Dad again though? Has it been cancelled?

This week's episode was so-so...Lois a clepto was a pretty weak storyline, then bringing the "That's Quagmire" ...eh.

I really dunno what happened to American Dad...time to go dig in the FG Forums. Sure hope it ain't cancelled.

They did the "Take On Me" part really well, there were some parts where it looked like they actually using parts from the original music video.  The animators did a really good job of recreating it.

Also loved the whole "Asiatown" thing.  The newborn baby at the child labour plant?  Priceless.  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

Best line of the episode: Lois - "I ordered Caucasian for dinner".

Just a related side note for you Family Guy fans out there, the DVD exclusive movie which was originally set for a September release (I think it's called Stewie Griffin's Story or something like that) has been leaked and is available on through BT.

I haven't really looked into the validity of the file but judging by the number of downloaders (close to 5000 as shown by one particular site), I would say that it is legit.  Some have said they previewed the 700mb dvd rip file with VLC and can confirm that it's real.

Keep in mind I'm not suggesting any of you download it, just passing on the information that it has apparently been "illegally" released.

Better yet, it's apparently on FileFront.  I'm trying to D/L it now, but I won't be surprised if the D/L is cut off for being too slow (I'm on cable and got 7 hours to go - 25kb/sec).

I downloaded a 700MB version after getting sick of waiting for the larger 3GB version, but it still took a while to download, but it was worth it of course.  Family Guy rocks.  This quick "review" will cover some of the formatting of the movie, so if you can consider some of this to be spoilerish, I'm warning you now.  Turn back or risk not being able to laugh at one of the punchlines.

The movie is set up to begin with the cast showing up for the movie, and this portion of course has a mix of good jokes, as well as some of the jokes that are starting to get a bit overdone (see: 'unnoticed Meg' jokes).  After everyone gets into the theatre, some funny "Coming Attractions" are given, and then the movie gets going.  When it begins, it feels a lot like any other Family Guy episode, and for the most part, that is what the movie is.  The same sorts of jokes and humor, but we get a lot more of it in one watching (unless of course you purchased them on dvd or watched some marathon, or downloaded a bunch... but.. that's illegal...ahem).

The core plot of the movie doens't really get going for a while in, but that is excuseable since the movie is shown to be split into three parts (although to find where one ends and another begins depends on how well you know the comic writing of each of the writers... I couldn't tell where the lines were drawn, for what that may tell you about how dedicated of a fan I am..).  Hitting on the basic plot now (last chance to turn back!!)

~~~~~~~~~SPOILERS??~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Stewie is going about his usual Family Guy antics until he tries to spring a trap on a rival child at a swm meet/lesson.  The trap backfires and Stewie gets a brief view into hell (very brief), which causes him to decide to change his ways.  Somewheres along his line of trying to be a good person, he decides that this doesn't work, and takes Brian's suggestion to get into alcohol.. the movie then takes a turn off of that bit of plot when Stewie sees a man that resembles him on television and decides to find the man to prove that Peter isn't his father.  When he finds out this man is actually him from the future, Stewie hitches a ride with Future Stewie to find what a horrible world his family has grown into.  When it is put upon him to try and change everything back to the way it should be, it is made obvious to him by Future Stewie that it was the incident at the swim meet and his near death experience that changed his outlook on taking risks in life and what affected his lack of a good future.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~END SPOILERS??~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When the movie ends, we get more of the breaking of the fourth wall when the Family Guy cast has a post-movie cast party. Then the movie finally hits the credits, and there isn't anything to see after the credits are finished rolling.

What did we really get out of this Family Guy movie?  ... well, the animation seemed about on par with what is usually expected, and the show wasn't leagues funnier, or more dramatic, or anything than the tv series.. so all we are really getting differently is more jokes and more Family Guy than the usual dosage, a shot at a bit longer of an arc, and some swears and sexual suggestions that go even beyond that of the tv series.  There are more "eating out" jokes in this movie than I think I've ever heard on tv.

So do I suggest you watch it?  If you are a Family Guy fan.. of course!!  If you aren't.. of course!!!  It's funny either way, but don't expect something AMAZING.

The show is definitely going down hill, in my opinion. They seem to have lost all sense of pacing. The chicken fight, the vomit scene, the Take On Me musical number, and Stewie's game of Marco Polo were funny at first, but they went on for entirely too long. It feels to me like they're just trying to kill time to cover a lack of ideas.

Still, it was pretty cool that they managed to get Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, and Michael Dorn to do the voices for the Star Trek bit.

Yeah, I agree. It's like they are rehashing old ideas/characters too, blowing apart the set characters that made Seasons 2 + 3 so solid. Like WTF this week...rehashing Brian's crush on Lois into marriage? Bringing back that peg leg/arm guy. Death makes like a 2 second cameo. Just sloppy ... I wonder what the hardcores think?

I could go and overanalyze the Stewie Movie, cuz those 3 episodes are better than whatever they've put out on FOX so far. I think I'll watch it again  :lol:

And sure! Patrick Stewart is also on American Dad, eh?

Brian's marrying Lois was a fucked up idea, nevermind the fact that it's just a re-hash of the "Brian's crush on Lois" thing they did before.  :o  :shock:  :o

I DID laugh at the part where Peter and the guys tried the orgy, then when they were on top of one another they were spotted by the cruise ship and pointed out like a tourist attraction!!!  :D  :D  :D

Favorite characters are Stewie and Brian.

The thin white line was a very good episode. Brian becomes a drug dog and gets a cocaine addiction  XD
There also was an episode where you saw that Stewie was born with a map of Europe. With some points already marked on it. The beginning of his plan for world domination :D

My fav scene is when Brian goes on the bachelorette and Stewie is being sarcastic when he rants to Brian about a book he's been working on for 4 years and that he 'deserves some time of'.. the scene lasts like 4 minutes  :lol:
