^ FUCK YEAH. I wanna watch it again and again and again!!! ITS ON YOUR BRAIN! here's the restricted trailer
lol RZA's secret fighting style
LMFAO "You wanna beat up your boss, the whole staff but you'll get sued...GIMME ME MY MONEY!"
watch the Prequel SHORT
FREE posters!! apparently tear-away, who picked one up??
SPOILER ALERT!!went to watch it Sat. AND FUCK DOPEST MOVIE EVER!!
It breaks down as a Wu-Tang meets Tarantino meets Shaw Bros. type movie, even though most of the dialogue was in english - it almost seemed like they were talking in the dubbed kung fu flicks - cuz of the exaggerated over the top tone Silver Wolf had lol and shit, to see the opening sequence of blood splattering violence across while ODB spits verse just gives you fuckin CHILLS SON.
I dunno how much influence Tarantino and Eli Roth had in the story and direction, but it was a pretty bad ass script WARRING FACTIONS. Everyone is part of a Clan, lotsa people get killed but DAMN some of the dopest sequences like the Gemini Twins, the pairing cohesion of the two (unnngh
Grace Huang great angles tight white ass pants doing back flips and dives off the balcony and RZA shooting right for the crotch FUCKIN GENIS) was over the top then when they died, the bodies lay in a Ying Yang. haha Cung Le he was relegated to Third in Command but he had a style similiar to that of his beast lion mode, Lucy Liu fucked him up good. GREAT visuals, Jamie Chung was damn hot, just enough sex scenes.
Action sequences true to form, even with the FX of Batista turning brass and the flying steel knives and whips, the fighting styles were RAW hard to believe some of em had just months training. Like that one scene where The X-Blade (Rick Yune) had just knives flying out of everywhere and each enemy ended with blood pouring out of him.
RZA's acting had me wondering too - seeing him in more of a cameo role before, but it was INTENSE, him screaming and hollering battling Batista and when he got his arms cut off SHIT! screaming like a bitch fitting the mood. I kinda expected him to drop a 'cash rules everything around me' or Wu verse
but he went to another level on this, esp. havin remorse over making these weapons for them rival Clans.
BEST PART was when Gordon Liu was the Abbott like FUCK! obviously shot before his stroke but it wouldn't be a proper kung fu movie without Gord in it!! AND he spoke 100% Cantonese to boot.
I like how the main three heroes (RZA, Knife Guy, Russell Crowe) fought their respective rivals, and they'd fight and fight then it'd cut to the other so that the ending of each would come back-to-back-to-back....
AND THE SOUNDTRACK. Fuck if you didn't cop it on itunes. FUCK YOU!! Support RZA and his directorial debut assholes! Full of soul and funk, rippin love jones tracks like The Revelations & Tre Williams number to Wu-Tang reuniting rippin shit up!! Kanye's White Dress seemed outta place in the whorehouse bathing scene but hey
almost reminds me of the N.A.S.A. compilation album where it was collabos you wish AND HERE THEY ARE kinda joints Ghost and Monch M.O.P. BLACK OUT have you screaming on the top of your seat. There was even some other Canto songs at the Opera House, I gotta watch again but it was another CLASSIC.
OVERALL. The story is really dope, not just 'Hey, I'm a Blacksmith, I must have revenge, let's fight.' A battle of remorse and redemption, coming back when the odds are against you. The action and dialogue captures the ol school shaw Bros. style perfectly, right down to the Chinese written in the credits and hidden all over the movie. GJ RZA!! FUCK must watch it again. A Definite JPHiP Movie Nite G+ Hangout 5 STARS out of 5. GO SEE IT!
make sure you watch the Prequel, narrated by RZA
interesting shit...RZA used this as his pitch, if you remember
Wu-Tang vs the Golden Phoenix thread...there was an actual reason for the ghetto ass short movie
