Seriously. 3 DVDs with all kinds of random bonus footage or just spread it out. 2+ hours per each DVD! Simple!

Offtopic: I'm regretting not getting Bluray versions of stuff I got on DVD because there is bonus footage only on the Bluray version and it wasn't that much more expensive. Bluray drives got cheaper too but stupid Macs can't play them though.

Personally I prefer blu-rays because 1. they're HD 2. DVDs look anywhere from significantly to somewhat worse on the TVs in my home. 3. Japanese Blu-rays are usually region free as opposed to Japanese DVDs which are usually region locked. I primarily use my North American/US model PS3 for viewing Blu-rays.

That is definitely 100% wrong, I think you are missing something.

1. The wast majority of both music DVD's and Blue-Rays are region free.

2. If we are talking movies I think the reason you think the Blue-Rays are region free is because they are the same region as North America whereas DVD's are the same region as Europe.

Of all the DVDs I have from Japan, only one is all region and the rest are coded for Region 2, while all blu-rays I have are all region. These are DVDs from limited edition albums and concert Blu-rays.

Also on the topic of PASSPO☆, they really seem to be churning these out a lot lately . . .

I have about 20 Music DVD's and only one is locked (it's a set of 2 and the other disk in that set isn't locked).

Well since we're talking about the PASSPO☆ DVD, I looked at the product page on CD Japan and like most of the DVDs I have from Japan, it says the DVD is Region 2. Which is locked for me since I'm in the US.

Those pages are wrong, both CD-Japan and amazon.co.jp often write that as a precation, the disc's aren't actually region locked.

Then explain to me why so many of the DVDs I've gotten from those sites are locked and won't play for me.

Some examples from my collection would be the DVDs that came with Scandal, Silent Siren, Dempagumi.Inc, and AKB48's latest albums.

As you said yourself we're talking about passpo here, all their discs are region free.

It seems we are both speaking from experience and maybe none of us are right but again only one of all the discs I have is region locked.

And I'm fairly confident that most of the music DVD's are not region locked.

Here are a couple of passpo DVD's I did it quick so it's blurry, but look for the globe where it says ALL (next to NTSC).

This maybe true for Passpo, but so far none of the other artists I have DVDs for are All Region. This is point I'm to make as one of the reasons why I'm mentally against DVDs.

Yeah well Passpo's definitly aren't locked so you shouldn't worry about that.

I just rechecked the only music DVD I have that is locked is Babyraids, I have another that is locked but that's a documentary.

Overall I don't think Blue-rays are more likely to be region free than DVD's but for you they just happen to be the same as your region.

As I am living in Europe I don't care about Japanese region codes :P
BluRays could be a different story as I don't know their region code in Japan if they have one. None of the groups I like releases BluRays. :( But I am not so demanding when it comes to picture quality. A well recorded DVD is as good for me as a BluRay.

But could we skip the technical discussion and go back to topic?
What is your opinion on the current merchandise? Like the shirts Aipon helds in the video few posts before? In my opinion they AGAIN have outdone themselves - in a negative way. :smhid
