U.S. state bill would require social-networking sites to check ages

Connecticut lawmakers unveiled legislation Wednesday that would require MySpace.com and other social-networking sites to verify users' ages and obtain parental consent before minors can post profiles.

“The technology is available. The solution is financially feasible, practically doable,” he said. “If we can put a man on the moon, we can check ages of people on these Web sites.”

Haha, what? Checking ages of myspace users isn't exactly rocket science.

It's not rocket science but it's inconvenient for the userbase. They need to implement a system that allows the site to check your age. This means inputting card numbers, sending in forms or certificates, etc. As for parental permission, I'm not sure how that will work.

But hey I'm all for it since social networking online is retarded. Facebook is the only one I can respect because it's very well made and clean.
