Kawashima Umika releases 1st collection of trading cards, "Umika Days"
Today actress Kawashima Umika (15) celebrated the release of her first collection of trading cards called "Umika Days". It is her first such collection and she even picked the title herself. "Umika Weather was another candidate, but since it’s full of my real self we picked this title."
There are a lot of cards in this collection and they feature her in various clothes, including swimsuits, a school uniform, loungewear, stylish clothes and a lot of other interesting costumes. "It’s been a while that I did swimsuit pictures, so I was really nervous…, but since it’s a trading card collection it had to be special. I didn’t do anything like a diet, but at the day of the photo shooting I didn’t eat anything at all. Every day before I went to bed, I did 20 sit-ups and 20 push-ups. However, recently I’ve been slacking off with my exercises again."
2009 has been a busy year for Kawashima, she appeared in a lot of commercials and doramas and even had her first movie starring role in "Keitai Kareshi". "This year there have been a lot of unusual things for me, it really became a big turning in my life. I have also become a senior high school student this year. I’m glad that I got to do so many different things. My personal kanji of the year might be ki (spirit, courage). The ki of kiai (fighting spirit), the ki of genki (healthy/vigorous) and not to forget the ki of kansha no kimochi (feeling gratitude). I feel like I just said something great. (laughs)"

Young actress Kawashima Umika (16) will star in her first drama called “Heaven’s Flower” next season, a romantic mystery in which she is going to disguise herself as an emotionless female assassin. It’s her first role that is not about a pure and innocent young girl.
“There is pressure as well, but first of all I’m looking forward to this role. I’ve always wanted to play an evil role!” she said. The role will also require a couple of action scenes about which she commented, “I’m going to receive some action training before the filming, because there will even be scenes with pistols and knifes.” Yet she didn’t seem to be nervous at all and added enthusiastically, “I hope and think that I will be able to show you a new side of me.”
The story is set in the year 2060, in a barren world without any flowers due to a failed experiment. Food is scarce and the whole world is in a crisis. Japan is split into several districts with some of them being better off than the other, but there are also those that have been left behind like the so-called “Seventh District.” The protagonist Ai played by Kawashima, is a member of a group of assassins called the “Last Garden,” who live and kill in this abandoned town. However, one day Ai meets a certain detective and falls in love with him and begins to be swallowed up by her fate involving trust, betrayal and a big secret surrounding her birth.
The detective will be played by D-BOYS’ Araki Hirofumi (27) while Ayano Go (28) will play his commanding officer. The leader of the assassins will be played by actress Mita Yoshiko (69), who hasn’t appeared in a drama series since 2006. Actor Honda Hirotaru (59) will also appear as the boss of the Chinese mafia who is about to become the biggest enemy of Ai.
The producers of “Heaven’s Flower” already created the hit drama “Around 40,” while its chief producer Iyoda Hidenori already produced other popular dramas such as “Mr. Brain” or “Shinzanmono.” The character designer of “Ryomaden,” will also help in creating the perfect outfits and makeup suitable for such a dark scenario.
This exciting new drama will start on TBS on January 14 and air every Friday at twenty past midnight.

Young actress Kawashima Umika recently created a frenzy at a boys’ high school in Tokyo when she paid it a surprise visit as part of the Pretz present campaign called “PARTY PRETZ BOX ATARU!”
Kawashima disguised herself as a member of the “Human Pretz Corps” and jumped out of a huge gift box in front of all the clueless boys who gathered at the gymnasium. It immediately became noisy inside the gymnasium, but fortunately Kawashima was protected by her two muscle rabbits. She appealed to the boys, “Were you all surprised? I also have a reward for you, so let’s have some fun!”
The reward was a photo with the actress, but of course the students didn’t just get it for free. This chance was only given to the students who were able to defeat Rabbit No.2 in arm wrestling.
Kawashima, who became a college student this spring, commented with sparkling eyes, “Senior high school students are said to be strong, and there certainly are many strong boys here.” She continued, “There are various things like club activities here, and I want you all to become diligent and cool young men!”

Kawashima Umika creates a frenzy at a boys’ high school

Young actress Kawashima Umika recently created a frenzy at a boys’ high school in Tokyo when she paid it a surprise visit as part of the Pretz present campaign called “PARTY PRETZ BOX ATARU!”
Kawashima disguised herself as a member of the “Human Pretz Corps” and jumped out of a huge gift box in front of all the clueless boys who gathered at the gymnasium. It immediately became noisy inside the gymnasium, but fortunately Kawashima was protected by her two muscle rabbits. She appealed to the boys, “Were you all surprised? I also have a reward for you, so let’s have some fun!”
The reward was a photo with the actress, but of course the students didn’t just get it for free. This chance was only given to the students who were able to defeat Rabbit No.2 in arm wrestling.
Kawashima, who became a college student this spring, commented with sparkling eyes, “Senior high school students are said to be strong, and there certainly are many strong boys here.” She continued, “There are various things like club activities here, and I want you all to become diligent and cool young men!”

On June 11th, actress Kawashima Umika became the store manager for a day at the flagship store of ‘K-SWISS‘ in Harajuku, Tokyo.
It was her first part-time job experience in her life. “I’m very nervous,” she commented, “But I’m also very happy, since I always longed for such an experience.”
‘K-SWISS’ also appointed Kawashima as their ‘it girl’ – their 2012 brand icon and appointed her as a model for their spring/summer catalog, together with special appearances by fellow members from idol group 9nine. At the event, she did a great job as a manager, served various customers and even gave her advice to customers trying to find a perfect new outfit, all while wearing a cute outfit by ‘K-SWISS’ herself.
Kawashima commented, “The other day I was also wearing K-SWISS clothes for gym class at my university. It didn’t disturb me during the exercises and it made me look fashionable. I want to wear more clothes with short sleeves now that we are approaching the summer.”
Looking back at the shooting for the catalog, she said, “It made me all cheery wearing so many pretty clothes. We all had been in very high spirits and kept on dancing during the whole shooting. I can’t wait to wear various clothes again for the fall/winter catalog. I’ll try my best to make more people wear this brand’s clothes!”

On October 6th, actress and 9nine member Kawashima Umika held a release event for her latest photo book, ‘Umi Kore. ~Kawashima Umika actress collection~‘, at Fukuya Bookstore in Shinjuku Subnade.
Kawashima entered Meiji University in April and has been enjoying her college life while working. She shared that she has been receiving invites to group dates from her friends, “I want to go at least once as social studies. But I know they (her agency) will absolutely stop me from going.”
The photo book is a compilation of photos that were serialized in the magazine, ‘B.L.T‘, over a period of 2 and a half years. Kawashima challenged herself to dressing up as a ballerina, high-school student, assistant photographer, and more. It also features original cuts as well as an exclusive interview. She gave appeal of the photo book saying, “Since 2 and a half years ago, I’ve grown into adulthood.”

Have started to watch Code Blue (Season 1) and Umika san was a guest in episode 1,
appearing in scenes with one of the series leads, Yosuke Asari.
In the attached clip, Dr. Fuikawa (Asari) asks Miki (Kawashima) why she insisted on having him exam her for treatment.
She says something about “the cool doctor”, and the doctor starts to swell up with pride.
Miki further explains that she would be embarrassed to be examined by Dr. Aizawa (played by Tomohisa Yamashita), and would even be embarrassed if seen by her pet dog, but that it was okay if Dr. Fuikawa examined her.
Later during the episode the situation becomes more dramatic (it is a medical drama),
and Umika turns in a memorable performance.
