Sayuuuuu >_< It doesn't matter everyone knew it was coming. This is still the final huge graduation for a long time to come because others haven't had as much time to build a legacy. So mang it hits.
I will try my best to see her before the grad, but likely it won't be the actual grad concert, and might be H!P summer instead of MM fall. We'll see.
If anything, I just want to thank her for all sh's done :heart:

To be honest, I'm just full of anxiety. But in half a year remaining until Michishige-san's graduation, I'll do my best to turn that anxiety into confidence! And within that half a year we'll definitely come back to Yamaguchi!

When Michishige-san first joined Morning Musume, I used to cheer for her when watching tv. After joining Haropro Egg, I thought she was really cute. And after joining Morning Musume I also begin to see how cool she is. From now on until her graduation...

Sayu cried too during Fukuhime's part.
Maachan :Here in Michishige-san's hometown Yamaguchi prefecture, watching her get nervous and restless before the concert, for the first time I really thought she looked cute.
Sayu : For the first time?!
Maachan : Well, that's a lie (lol).
Maachan : Everytime I felt nervous, Michishige-san always told be "it'll be alright", she always encouraged me and put me at ease. This time together with everyone, I want to be the one who cheers her on.

Ahhh, I was just getting into H!P right before 6th gen joined! I can't believe they are all graduated/graduating now. Sayu really has done a great job leading Momusu these past few years and I wish her all the best~

Rather than being upset about it, I feel really happy for Sayu. She's such an inspiration; started from having an image of being among the least talented Momusu members to someone who's hugely respected both as a comedic figure on tv and a really dependable leader during the rebirth of Momusu. I was a bit concerned after Taka/Gaki graduated because they both had good images as leaders, I thought "Sayu? Wonder how that'll turn out," and now look! 5 consecutive #1 singles and a new lease on life as a group after undergoing their most severe slump.
More than anything, I hope she's able to graduate happily without any regrets. She and the other members have done a great job of nurturing 9-11th gen members, I'm sure they'll do the legacy of the group proud. :thumbup

What to say? I will proudly bear the name 'Sayumi_fan' until I cease to breathe. She will be gone from Momusu, but she will be forever in my heart, with thankfulness to have followed Momusu since not so long after she and the other Rokkies joined up. I will always remember first noticing her on the cover of Morning Musume Otomegumi's first single Ai no Sono ~Touch My Heart!~ ... I had only just discovered H!P but I desperately wanted to know, who was that girl with the cute face and piercing gaze out from under her jet black hair?

For a while I toyed with other forums as I grew to know H!P, but by the time I found JPHiP in 2005, 'Sayumi-fan' was the only label I could rightly give myself. I was hooked, lined and sinkered by a 16-year-old enchantress from Yamaguchi named Sayumi. The next almost-nine years here have been magic, and I have watched her grow from a kid into a woman with adoration, fascination and delight.
My favourite performances are many. Who can forget Rainbow Pinku (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YstmnHoR9Q8) and the spin-off Wa! Merry Pin Xmas! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cvUHfM-I4c)? But the highlight performance for me has to be the sweet angel wearing that almost-not-there silver mini and those legs up to heaven in last year's Tanjou 15 Shuunen Kinen Concert Tour 2012 Aki ~Colorful Character~, where she sang Lalala no Pipipi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0fjcGz6nh0)... my jaw hit the deck and I needed an earthmover to retrieve it for me!
This won't be my last post in this thread and I have to end for now; so I am sad, yes, and had hoped for another year or so... but I am so happy for who she has become and that I chose her as my oshi so long ago, and she has been a huge part of my adoration of j-idols for more than a decade now. It has been a great privilege, sweet Sayu, and I still will follow your career as much as possible in years to come.

It's amazing how one picture or small moment can result in years of fandom, and tbh I didn't personally understand it until it finally happened to me with Eripon in 9ki audition... Well, I'm definetely done with MM with Sayu graduating since I don't know any of the new members except for her. I'm sure she will still be on TV and I wish her and MM the best. I'm glad that I got to meet her in person back then when they came to LA.
I grew up with the fifth and sixth generation and now am too old to follow the younger members. Haha. Time to part with MM with Sayu graduating! Such a bittersweet feeling though!

Awwww, Mugen... please don't give up on them! I know how you feel... it's like my right arm is being cut off with Sayu leaving! And yet... there are other new girls coming up, and you are not as old as me to get used to new girls I think, heh heh. What about Fuku-chan and so many other sweet ones. Take time and learn them and you will rediscover your love for MM all over again... I am sure!

Michishige Sayumi's graduation date and venue decided + Morning Musume.'14's new single release
August 17, 2014
Morning Musume.'14 has announced that their new single "TIKI BUN / Shaba Daba Doo / Miokuri Bijin" will be released on October 15. Also, Michishige Sayumi's graduation concert will take place on November 26 at Yokohama Arena.
The announcement was made on August 16 during Hello! Project's live event 'Hello! Project 2014 SUMMER ~YAPPARI!~' at Nakano Sun Plaza Hall. "Shaba Daba Doo" will be Michishige's solo song, and "Miokuri Bijin" will be the group's song without Michishige. The single will be released in 6 different versions: Limited Editions A~D, and Regular Editions A~B.
Titled 'Morning Musume.'14 Concert Tour Fall GIVE ME MORE LOVE ~Michishige Sayumi Graduation Commemoration Special~', Michishige's graduation concert will be the finale of the group's tour which will kick off in September. Upon hearing the news of her graduation concert, Michishige called out, "Everyone please come and support me!"
On August 17, Morning Musume.'14's special website (http://www.helloproject.com/morningmusume/tikibun/) was launched. It features the latest news, a countdown until Michishige's graduation, and pictures of Michishige taken by the members.

Michishige Sayumi to take a break from showbiz after graduation

Morning Musume.'14 member Michishige Sayumi will be taking a break from showbiz after graduation from the group.
This was announced by Michishige herself on September 20th during the opening day of their tour 'Morning Musume.'14 Concert Tour Fall GIVE ME MORE LOVE ~Michishige Sayumi Graduation Commemorative Special~' at Harmony Hall Zama in Kanagawa Prefecture. During the encore, she commented on her graduation, "I wasn't particularly interested in showbiz. I auditioned simply because I loved Morning Musume. After becoming a member, and even a leader, I intended to risk my entire life for Morning Musume. These past 12 years, I believe that I have done all I can for Morning Musume. I've rushed here without rest, so I plan to take a break for a while after graduating."
As the crowd began to make noise in response to her unexpected remark, she continued, "It might sound exaggerated to everyone when I say that I will take a break, but I just want to rest a little from work, refresh my mind and body, and think at my own pace about what I want to do from now on." She was then received with a cheer and applause.
Michishige's graduation concert will be held on November 26 at Yokohama Arena. In addition, the 12th generation members will be revealed on September 30 during their concert at Nippon Budokan.

The last show of Morning Musume.'14's tour 'Morning Musume.'14 Concert Tour Fall GIVE ME MORE LOVE ~Michishige Sayumi Graduation Commemoration Special~', which will be held on November 26 at Yokohama Arena, will live broadcast in theaters in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea.
This will be the last stage for the group's 8th leader Michishige Sayumi as a member of Morning Musume.'14. Those who will be viewing the concert from movie theaters will also have the privilege of watching the opening act by Juice=Juice and S/mileage, as well as scenes from backstage exclusive to movie theater viewers.
Live viewing tickets for Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea will be sold via the theaters' official websites.

1. As your graduation is getting closer, what can you tell us about your current feelings?
Sayumi Michishige: I'm just happy every day. I'm still having a lot of fun. The overseas live [New York] is super-exciting. Every day I want to do my best for Morning Musume。 and the New York live will give us a chance to show Morning Musume。's power and charm to fans in America.
2. What was your most memorable moment since you joined Morning Musume。?
Sayumi Michishige: Maybe it seems strange, but it's very recent. The fan club tour last year that we did for the first time, that was unforgettable. The fans showed us so many new surprises, and even I was surprised at my own emotions.
3. How do you expect Morning Musume。 to change in the future?
Sayumi Michishige: After my graduation, Morning Musume。will become '15 (one-five), and the group's overall feeling and chemistry will change once again. The ages will be younger, but the number of members has grown. I think the group will grow even more to become an idol group which represents Japan.
4. What are your plans after graduation?
Sayumi Michishige: I'll take a break after graduation, that's honestly the only thing that's decided. Anything specific will come after that, and I'm looking forward to having time to think about the future.
5. Since this NY concert will be the first oversea solo concert for the fellow members, did you give them any advice as a leader?
Sayumi Michishige: They don't have to act special or different just because it's an overseas lives. All the work that pays off in our concerts in Japan will shine through in America, too. Just be yourselves.
6. Please leave a message to your international fans.
Sayumi Michishige: Even though we're far apart, we think about our fans who are everywhere across the world. We always do our best for you, and we want to see you whenever we can!

All good things come to an end – but for better things to fall together! After 11 years of being a member of Morning Musume。’14 (the longest in the group’s history), eighth unit leader Sayumi Michishige is finally leaving the group, but it’s not over just yet.
Michishige’s final live performance, “Morning Musume。’14 Concert Tour AKI GIVE ME MORE LOVE ~Sayumi Michishige SOTSUGYO KINEN Special~,” scheduled to be held on Nov. 26 at Yokohama Arena will be broadcasted live in 29 movie theaters across Japan as well as in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.
Other idol crews Juice=Juice and S/mileage will be opening up for this special event, another thing to keep your eyes out for.
Moumusu fans, make sure to put your hands together one last time for Sayumi Michishige as Morning Musume。’14 moves onto its next step. Tickets for the overseas viewings are available on the official websites of the corresponding theaters.

I caught some footage, now deleted sadly... but just a couple of comments...
The triumphal march to the centre of the arena at the opening... such a celebration. But look at the moment they are poised just after they arrive at the centre stage, and then the arms go up simultaneously... and Sayumin and Fukuhime are exactly back to back, like, they can't see each other at all, and their timing is *perfect*... probably a tiny thing, and simple if they are of course counting on the beat, but still... ultra professional and a total class act... of course!
And... all the different coloured glowsticks, raised by the fans at pretty much the right moment for each member... I have never seen Yokohama Arena look so good. To have been there... that would have been unforgettable.

With the conclusion of Morning Musume. ’14′s national concert tour “GIVE ME MORE LOVE”, long time member and leader Sayumi Michishige has officially graduated from the group at the final date today, November 26, at Yokohama Arena.
Sayumi Michishige joined Morning Musume at 13 years of age after participating in the “Love Audition 2002” held by Up-Front Agency. She was chosen as one of four winners and officially became a member of the group’s 6th generation with the single “Shabondama” in 2003.
Now 25 years old, she has since become the longest running Morning Musume member with a total of 11 years within the group. In that time she has taken part in 45 singles and 28 albums as a member of 7 musical units, released 16 books (11 physical photo books, 4 digital photobooks, and 1 personal book), performed in films, dramas, commercials, as well as theater and has hosted two of her own radio programs.
Announced during the first MC segment of the concert was who would take Sayumi’s place as leader. With two subleaders, Mizuki Fukumura and Haruna Iikubo, it was decided that Mizuki Fukumura would take on the position to lead the group with Iikubo remaining as the sub-leader. Keeping with a new tradition of having two co-subleaders, Erina Ikuta was promoted to subleader.

Following the touching graduation ceremony, Michishige performed “Akai Freesia“, and was then joined by her juniors in “Aruiteru” and “Happy Daisakusen“. Once finished, all the members lined up in a row on the main stage and thanked fans. Near tears and reluctant to leave, Michishige and the other members continued saying goodbye over and over again.
After all the members had left the stage, a video was projected with all the members on a couch, each leaving one by one until only Sayumi was left with a book that read “4329 days / 2003.01.19 ~ 2014.11.26 Sayumi Michishige” to nicely bookend to this chapter of her life. Michishige will temporarily stop all activities after her graduation.
The DVD and Blu-ray of this concert will be released on February 11, 2015.
Twelfth generation audition winners Maria Makino, Miki Nonaka, Haruna Ogata and Akane Haga will begin as full time members in 2015 when Morning Musume. ’14 becomes Morning Musume. ’15 on January 1st.

Anybody remembered Sayu's debut concert? It was at Kei's graduation, where she & her 3 fellow 6th-gen members gave graduation messages to Yasuda.
11 years later. Sayu's now the Oka-san getting graduation messages from the debuting 12th-gen members. It ended just like how it started.

^ Holy shit Kei-chan's graduation was the first H!P concert I watched. I didn't even know what graduations were or that it was going to be a graduation concert; I basically discovered when everyone was bawling their eyes out and giving her messages. I was like, omg one of them is leaving!! Whoa and that was Sayu's debut? I don't have a memory of that (I didn't really know their names at that point haha), but that's insane. And like you said now 12th gen gave Sayu their messages. It's nuts but I LOVE THIS about Morning Musume. The story-arcs constantly beginning and ending and each of them precious~.

Michishige Sayumi graduates from Morning Musume '14

On November 26, idol group Morning Musume '14 wrapped up their fall tour "Morning Musume '14 Concert Tour Fall GIVE ME MORE LOVE ~Michishige Sayumi Sotsugyo Kinen Special~" at Yokohama Arena, and with this concert, the leader Michishige Sayumi officially graduated from the group and also from Hello! Project.
Michishige joined the group back in January 2003 as a 6th generation member, and stayed for 12 years which is the longest period for a member of the group.
During the graduation ceremony, Michishige, appeared in a pink dress and looked back upon the past saying, "It was not like I was interested in showbiz, nor loved to sing or dance. I am here only because of my love for Morning Musume." She then expressed her gratitude to the fans, "Thank you for finding me, and meeting me."
The idol also said with tearful eyes, while looking around the venue which was at full capacity with 12,000 audience members, "I always said 'there is a view I would want to show my juniors' and this is it. This is the last thing I can give back to them."
Nakazawa Yuko --the first leader of the group--, ℃-ute member Yajima Maimi who will take over the leader of Hello! Project after Michishige, and LoVendoЯ's Tanaka Reina who was also the 6th generation member, appeared on the stage to celebrate Michishige's graduation.
Also, the producer Tsunku♂, other former Morning Musume members, Kikuchi Ami, Yanagihara Kanako (known as the group's fan), Tanaka Masahiro and Satoda Mai, and more visited the venue for Michishige, and watched over her.
During the concert, Morning Musume '14 performed 32 songs, including "TIKI BUN", "Wagamama Ki no mama Ai no Joke", Michishige's solo song "Shabadaba Doo", and "Akai Freesia" (Melon Kinenbi) which was the set piece for the 6th generation audition.
At the live, it was announced that Fukumura Mizuki would be the 9th leader, and both Iikubo Haruna and Ikuta Erina were picked as the sub-leaders.
After her graduation, Michishige will take a break from showbiz indefinitely.

Been a while since I've watched any concerts, but I'm glad I sat down to watch this stream live. It was something else alright. Such a rollercoaster of emotions.
Everyone that was in the group when I got into MM has now moved on. Wild. And 4329 days? That's a good run, Sayu.

My beautiful pinku Sayu... as ecchi as ever until the very end!
You rock, girl! You fulfilled another of your dreams, and one for some of us as well. And yet I don't think Rihoriho objected, if you note the heartfelt manner in which she later greeted Sayumin in tears at her graduation moment. Of course, we do truly hope that sweet Sayu will not spend her retirement being sent down the river for the fulfillment of her wicked lusts.
Other highlights for me, now that I have managed to watch the whole performance:
* the pink glowsticks... I have never seen an arena look so beautiful, I think... for any event, ever
* to see my second oshi, Fukuhime, assume the mantle of MM leader with her face wet with her tears
* the confident and triumphant manner in which Sayumin delivered her farewell speech - completely naturally, without any fumbling and crinkling of a wad of notes... if this girl does not have a future in media, TV presentation or some such, I will be amazed, despite the current claims that she has no plans... I think the offers will come rolling in
* the very formal presentation of Sayumin in kimono, with the other members in simple, stylish white dresses and heels... so tasteful
* Sayumin never varied throughout her entire MM career from maintaining her natural black Japanese hair... so classy!
* I may be wrong, but it seemed the most sustained and devoted graduation name chant ever in M history (but I could be biased!)
Sayonara, Sayumin my heart... but not goodbye.
