I have Skype, but I'm not often on. XD I'm curious to see what sort of idea you have for such a group discussion though...

@rndmnwierd - Skype was recently bought by microsloth, but as far as I know Skype is still a free download for the PC and Mac and costs nothing for talk inbetween Skype users. If you have a microphone and headsets you could be in business.
@Estrea - I recent "ran" some general h!p discussions over at JPM. Usually, what I do is come up with a bunch of questions ahead of time. Then, I will ask one of the questions and then shut the heck up for thirty minutes. I'm lazy that way, but it seems to work.
Some sample questions might be:
Which Fan Fics have you been reading recently?
What do you look for in a Fan Fic?
Is there a pairing that will absolutely compel you to read a fan fic?
Are there lines that fan fiction should not cross?
But, I am lazy, so if other people have discussion topics I am more than happy to use them.

^ That interests me. I'll have to get a new headset because mine broke, but yeah, I'll be happy to participate. Would have to find a good time for people across different time zones to participate though. :lol: That's the part that could be difficult.

^ Rnd skype is simple. Just download it, make a username, and you're set.
I don't have a headset, so I just use my build in speakers and mic on my laptop, which isn't so bad. You can do that same too if you don't want to buy a headset. lol
And bringing all writers together? That's interesting, although I don't think I would have the guts for that. I'm very shy around just one stranger so...a group of them might make me spazz. lol
Also, my connection makes skype mess up on my end. >_< Calls are often dropped because of it.

Headphones are kind of needed.
If you use your computers speakers to listen then your microphone is going to pick up and echo what other people are saying.
This can lead to the situation where other people start talking and are immediately "cut off" by their own echo interrupting them. :panic:
In the discussions that I have led before, 8PM EST on Fridays was usually preferred, but I am flexible.
Discussion in the past have been mob scenes or just 2-3 people.

I couldn't on weekends, always have to work late. It would have to be in the middle of the week for me.

Well, the way it has usually worked in the past is that someone who has something burning in their heart that they want to talk about will step up and say that I want to chat at such and such a specific date and time and if I can accommodate it then the chat will happen.
It doesn't work as well if I autocratically demand a certain time and date.
So, does anyone have a time, date, headphones and skype?

I have headphones, Skype, a good time would be anywhere between 8pm and midnight and the days, I just don't know yet. I am pretty much just working on a day to day basis, but I'm pretty sure I'll be busy most weekends.

I'm usually open for what ever time people want.
I might try something different next time. I have a PC and a Mac so I could try to set up the PC for skype to see if that helps things. I'm not sure what recording software to use yet though.

well for me, this type of time is perfect for me on the weekdays since noone's home XD the time that you did the last podcast is usually when my mom's asleep for work the next day and i get a bit loud when i get into stuff^^; but since this time is usually when everyone else is working or asleep i'll wait and see what i can do

I might be able to do times like 6pm EST on any day, though it means I'll have to get up really early. XD What do you guys think?
Oh I wouldn't diss time zones if I were you. If not for time zones some of us would never be able to talk since there are those with irregular working hours. XD

It sounds to me like a late Friday/Saturday night for us in the US would work best. We did it at... 10PM EST last time? 10 or even 11EST maybe... that'd be 7 or 8 rndm time (no work on Saturday?), 10 or 11 Essy time (you can get up that early on the weekend :P). Kuro might be a bit of a problem.

I have a day trip this Saturday which I have to get up for really early and come back pretty late. But, Friday/Saturday nights in general sound good.

I would like to make suggestions for the spreadsheet:
1) You have lines for 00:00 and 24:00. One of them has to go. And, Es you need to rethink your schedule since you have different entries for 00:00 and 24:00 even though they are the same time.
2) You could make the first column bigger and include multiple time zones. For example: 20:00 EST/00:00 GMT

All you have to do is mark which times you would be available and then supposedly we can all look at the sheet and figure out when the best time of the week is to do the podcast (ie have the most available people).

I was just saying to keep it an hour long to make doing the session less of a pain for people who are doing the talking. Since last time, we talked for two hours with no breaks, so after I was not only very tired, but really damn thirsty from too much talking. lol Another reason, is because if people do listen to this podcast it will just be easier to listen to a one hour podcast rather than a two hour or a four hour podcast.

right now that sounds great to me, plus you guys wouldnt be the 1st to talk over 2 hrs for a podcast XD on h!o the std podcast went on for almost 4 hrs i believe XD and i sat down and litsened the whole time. i mean they have music breaks too in their podcasts but its usually like atleast 2 songs. and if anyone litsenes and needs a bathroom break or something, just pause it...thats what i do^^;
that time sounds pretty good to me atm, i'll try and reinstall skype just for that XD

Bluetooth headsets are evil! Just get a headset where you have to plug it into your desktop/laptop and keep it plugged in. Those work the best I think. I just use my earbuds though since I don't have a headset with a mic. Maybe you can just do that too?

H!P drinking game
For each podcast, we pick one group/soloist/member/what have you and brainstorm the drinking conditions. (Take a sip if Yossie's a pimp, if Momoko annoys someone, if there's a Kappa!Airi reference, etc.)
Then we have an interactive portion and play. (Like a DVD Magazine, Hello Morning excerpt, concert performance, or something)
We don't necessarily have to actually drink, but the interactive portion would be more about just pointing out the drinking game conditions for that video.
It's kind of like making a dictionary of H!P memes.
We might even link it back to fanfic with a fanon drinking game!

I dunno, resop, those anime tend to be uber-slow paced. I tried watching K-ON! once upon a time and couldn't get through it, this coming from someone who labored through and on-and-off enjoyed Beck:MCS. Slice-of-life is not my tea, and imo would be tedious to use as an interactive. Maybe if they were specific clips of important plot points/performances it could work?
It could be interesting to discuss why "Idol Singer" is a genre in anime if it already exists "in real life", and how idol culture and anime feed off of each other in a giant orgy of Kawaii. Like Shokotan!

First of all, Airi is turning 20 in just a couple weeks!!! I'm already working on a little something perhaps to debut when that comes...
Also, to the main point of discussion, the YajiSuzu group name, they actually had a few variations of it - they used one for each performance they gave of the acoustic live. The Cologne Musume. was perhaps one (though I can't remember for sure), and another one, which Airi wrote about (http://blog-project.net/suzuki-airi/51522), was Cologne and Tooru, also with an explanation :lol: Then again, you could also guess an explanation if you knew a bit about Maimi and Airi...
Cologne, or the katakana コロン, is the name of Maimi's pet toy poodle, who incidentally for perhaps some trivia as well, is also the mother of the toy poodles other H!P members currently own, including Saki Shimizu (Kurumi), Miyabi (Peace), etc... There's a MM and Egg or two who owns one of the pups (though they're not actually pups anymore) as well ^^;

Believe it or not, I'm thinking of another podcast!
This one would be for the 25th of May, and the subject would be Berryz Kobo since they are coming to NJ's Anime Next the first weekend of June.
People who do not plan to attend the anime convention may participate on the podcast, since I myself am not going either.
Needed are people who are familiar with the Berryz history and the ships (since I haven't really followed them that much).

As for karaoke, we need to figure out some of the tech wrinkles. If it is one person going at a time, that wouldn't be much of a problem. If more than one person is going at a time they are likely to be un-synchronized by about five seconds.
There is also the question of which songs are we going to be doing?
Now, if we decide to also record a Petals 7 Theater segment, and if we did the "double date" segment, then the songs that they did would be:

(And, if it is true, "because they're hot" is an acceptable reason.)

It can be a top however many you want. I just threw out top 5 because that's how many I came up with in one sitting.
The idea though is for people to think them out ahead of time so that they won't blank out when put on the spot.
Also, people could if they wanted to prepare Youtube interactive sessions to illustrate some point that they find appealing about the pairing.

Ahaha I just mean maybe we come up with a master list that we all discuss rather than each talking about 5 pairings cuz then we avoid being redundant. Like for example we start off talking about Takagaki or w/e and people can voice their opinions and then we move on to another pairing like Kameshige, etc. I certainly agree we should come up with them beforehand tho so people can think about what to say. Maybe it would be helpful if people listed the ones they for sure wanna talk about so you could start making a list? It may even be something you split up across different podcasts so it could be more in depth. Like one week talk about MM pairings, next time Berikyuu, inter-group pairings, etc.

Just trying to come up with ideas is all ^^;

The last thing I want is for the discussion to veer into "I hate your favorite pairing" territory. And, even if different people like the same pairing, they might like them for different reasons. So, I was hoping that instead of going down some master list and having people have to say like or not like, we could just have our own lists and then the other members can "learn" from them rather than having to agree.

When I thought of it in my head it kinda went more like if anyone had something to say about that pairing (and we can restrict it to positive or whatever if we had to) they could chime in. For example, with Takagaki, you could have the people who like that pairing or have something interesting to say about it discuss it and then move on, and people that don't like it can refrain from speaking at that time. The only reason I mentioned doing it this way is for a bit more organization because I foresee a lot of overlap anyway and so idk I feel like it might be easier to discuss pairings individually rather than have people list them and then get into the same discussion multiple times or be like oh, well, I don't have much to say here because I already mentioned it back when so-and-so was talking about this same pairing. EDIT: and it would also be a way to discuss pairings that might not make it onto any of our lists but are still ones people write about/are interested in, that sort of thing.
Not trying to be picky or anal, though, so I'm all for doing what everyone else thinks is best. :3 And personally I still wanna talk about stories too but my mind's not yet wrapped around a good idea for that XD

Ummm…why don’t you guys get the list clear in your mind and then state categories where they fit later? That way the conversation can go to fics as well.
I mean… it’s rather obvious that every writer likes each pairing for something different since every single story is different. And everyone puts their pairing in their stories due to different reasons.
From popular pairings to really unusual ones, the combinations are endless in the creative minds of jphip. And that’s thanks to the girls themselves.
It could be easier for people to understand why you like that pairing if you can provide visuals that show just how they interact with each other or the way they react individually to the situations that occur around them. I had an idea for another podcast party!
This time the theme will be prediction!time.
People can give predictions for h!p for 2013.
The predictions can be stuff you:
* want to happen and think will happen
* want to happen and don't think will happen
* don't want to happen and think will happen
* don't want to happen and don't think will happen
I've already made of list of stuff that will almost certainly happen, so we'll need to concentrate on stuff that isn't a sure thing.
So, how does Friday the 16th on December 8 PM EST sound?
(this list of captain obvious predictions are:
1) Some fans will comment that Risako and Zukki are overweight. Their comments will be met by scorn.
2) Tsunku will make some announcement at the first concert of the year that will cause controversy.
3) Some fans will make jokes based on the unsubstantiated fan rumor that Fukumura Mizuki is from a rich family.
4) Some group other than MM will have a single or CD that sells well and fans will speculate that they are the new flagship group.
5) Fukumura Mizuki will make cryptic comments on her blog to try to titillate her fans.
6) Suyumi, Kanon, and Momoko will all claim to be the number one cutest idol.
7) MM will do a skit where Ikuta Erina is the butt of the joke.
8) Various blog entries will cause people to speculate if Haruna and Dawa are a rubu-rubu couple.
9) Yajima Maimi will do photo shoots for magazines (often with other H!P members) that will cause many nose bleeds among the wota.
10) There will be much discussion on which kenshuusei members should be brought up to H!P proper.)
