Christian Bale to take on new superhero rolehttp://www.livenews.com.au/Articles/2008/10/28/Christian_Bale_to_take_on_new_superhero_role
Christian Bale is set to play another superhero.
The actor – who has played Batman in both ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘The Dark Knight’ – is said to be the number one choice to play Dr. Strange in movie studio Marvel’s latest comic book adaptation. A source said: “Christian is hot property right now, courtesy of Batman.
“Doctor Strange is a very different kind of hero to Batman and it’s felt Christian is the sort of actor who can make the part work on screen. “It is understood a deal could be struck in the coming weeks.” The Welsh-born star “tops the list” of movie bosses to portray Dr. Strange, a former surgeon who becomes a powerful sorcerer after a car accident leaves him unable to perform operations.
Bale also plays hero John Connor in the upcoming ‘Terminator Salvation’ and has signed on for two more sequels in the science-fiction franchise. He has also expressed an interest in reprising his role as Batman if a third film is confirmed.
Christian Went Bale-istic on T4 Sethttp://www.tmz.com/2008/07/22/christian-went-bale-istic-on-t4-set/
Christian Bale was one giant raw nerve days before he allegedly pushed his mother.
TMZ spies tell us Bale was on the set last Friday shooting "Terminator 4" at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.
During a scene, Shane Hurlbut (seriously), director of cinematography, screwed up a shot -- at least in Christian's mind. We're told Bale went wild, screaming "I will kick your ass" along with some other choice remarks. Several hundred people -- including Military Police -- heard the outburst, which was described as "intense."
We're told Bale was "extremely tired and having a bad day."
"T4" Producer -- Bale's Tantrum Was No Biggiehttp://www.tmz.com/2009/02/03/t4-producer-bales-tantrum-was-no-biggie/
It turns out Christian Bale's expletive-filled, volcanic explosion on the set of "Terminator Salvation" was a "non-event"... according to a guy who wasn't the brunt of Bale's tirade.
Bruce Franklin -- assistant director and associate producer on the film -- told us "Christian is a method actor and was completely immersed in his scene ... his reaction was from the heat of the moment."
The target of Bale's attack -- a director of photography named Shane Hurlbut -- was not fired from the movie, despite Christian's threat that if Shane screwed up one more time, he should be kicked to the curb.
Franklin said Bale was under a lot of pressure because of his crazy "Dark Knight" promotion schedule, and that the crew -- Hurlbut included -- ended up shooting for another seven hours.
Christian Bale Apologizes For "Inexcusable" Rant
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Christian Bale wants everyone to make fun of him for his profanity-filled tirade against a crew member on the set of "Terminator: Salvation."Christian Bale said he was "way out of order" with his tirade during "Terminator: Salvation" filming.
"I deserve it completely," Bale told the hosts of a Los Angeles radio show Friday. In a phone call to KROQ-FM's "Kevin and Bean" show, Bale apologized for the rant last July against Shane Hurlbut, the movie's director of photography, which was captured on a much-distributed audio recording.
"I was out of order beyond belief," Bale said. "I was way out of order. I acted like a punk. I regret that." Bale said that although he has been able to laugh at the jokes, "it's been a miserable week for me."
"There is nobody that has heard that tape that is hit harder by it than me," he said. "I make no excuses for it. It is inexcusable." Bale, who starred as Batman in last year's "The Dark Knight," takes on the role of John Connor in the upcoming "Terminator" sequel.
Bale's four-minute rant began when he saw Hurlbut checking a light on the set in a hangar at New Mexico's Kirtland Air Force Base."Do you understand my mind is not in the scene if you're doing that?" Bale is heard saying, in one of the few sentences on the tape not involving profanity.
Bale told Hurlbut they were "done professionally" and that Bale would not continue filming unless Hurlbut was fired. With his apology, Bale offered "a little bit of context." He said he "was trying to show a little of that 'in the blood' craziness" that put his character's mother, Sarah Connor, in an insane asylum."And you know what? It went very wrong," Bale said.
"I got annoyed and then what happened, I made it ugly and that was awful of me," he said. "I took it way too far and I completely mixed up fact and fiction. I'm half John Connor and half Christian there." Bale said he and Hurlbut quickly put the incident behind them.
"I've not only talked with him, we have resolved this completely that very day," he said. "We kept working for a number of hours. Listen, when I'm saying I'm not coming back from that set if he's hired, you know what, it's hot air. I don't believe that. I have no intention of getting anybody fired." Bale and Hurlbut worked together as recently as last month, he said. "Everything is resolved between us," he said. "There is no problem whatsoever."
Bale said there was no physical violence against Hurlbut, especially considering he's "an ex-friggin'-football player." The actor insisted he does not have an oversized ego. "Please, if anybody ever sees that I really am thinking that I'm better than anybody else, stick a fork in my backside, turn me over, I will be done. That is not me."
He said he has not yet adjusted to "this notion of being a movie star." "I'm an actor and I don't quite know how to handle this movie star thing," he said. Bale said he called KROQ-FM's morning show because they made him laugh with their jokes about him. "I also appreciate you making fun of it," he said. "I had it coming. Feel free to make fun of me at my expense. I deserve it completely." The tape has become fodder for late night talk show hosts and morning DJs since it was put out on the Internet last month.

The actor has bemused co-stars on his new movie 'The Fighter' - which he is filming in Massachusetts with Mark Wahlberg and Amy Adams - with his insistence on "getting into character" and refusing to be seen when he isn't filming. A source told 'E!': "You only see him when it's time for his scenes. Other than that, no one has any idea where he is. He just goes missing." Bale is determined to accurately portray former crack addict Dicky Eklund in the movie - which follows the life of boxer 'Irish' Mickey Ward - and has stunned people with his appearance.
The source explained: "Christian has lost almost as much weight as he did for 'The Machinist'. He is so gaunt. They have even thinned his hair - he just looks sickly." The 35-year-old star famously lived on just a can of tuna and an apple a day and lost 60lbs while filming 'The Machinist', in which he played a paranoid insomniac.
Bale has previously said he would not want to go to the dieting extremes he did for 'The Machinist' ever again - but admitted he thrived on the "mental challenges" it presented him with. He said: "I wouldn't want to take it to that extreme again. But it was necessary to lose weight for that role - not as much as I did - but it was a challenge mentally to see if I was capable of doing such a thing.
"I know that I can now, so there would need to be a certain gimmick if I was to do that all over again. But I do like the notion of seeing how far you can push yourself so I'm very happy that I did that. Everybody told me that I was risking my health the first time around, so doing it twice? I'm probably being an idiot."
