Ugh I really, really want to play this but I can't figure out how to make the game run on my MacBook :bleed eyes:

Anyone know anything about how to do this? It is apparently possible. I got WineBottler to help out, but I don't know how to work it/what that actually does. I tried opening the lotrstandard.exe with Wine (which it did), but... then nothing happened. Nothing at all @_@;? And a tutorial I found (that I'm unable to relocate xDDD) told to make a Win2k bottle for the install, but I have no clue what the even means, let alone how to do it. Fffffff. Wikis and other tutorials I've found have been equally unhelpful @___@

I'm this close to giving up, but I don't want to. I want to play this too~~~ ;_____; *hoping it'll be worth all the trouble*

Rocking it out in Bree with my Human Minstrel, Ishidana.

Minstrel solo is pretty doable and fun IMO (at least in the early game).
Have been playing a fair bit, just got access to medium armour and Theorboes.

Also thinking of starting either an elf or dorf for the other character.

Minstrel solo is pretty fun, I think.
Don't have too much need of potions or anything, and all your spells ("songs") are pretty spammable.

I've got the "War Speech" skill, which I guess is something akin to shadow form in wow in that it makes your DOT stronger, and your nuke cooldown faster with higher crit at the expense of healing power.

I'm guessing all classes get some kind of toggle skill around then that makes solo better, Captains have "Fervour" which allows them to kill stuff fast without burning through all of ones Power too fast and needing to rest or use consumables, though from my experience it still goes down after a while, and generally the skills are less fun to play than with a Minstrel, so guess I'm sticking to one!

Also I've taken up the vocation of a Yeoman, started farming a bit, got Tier 2 (Journeyman) Mastered and working on expert and...

...looks like farmers can freaking plant bombs!

EDIT: YO, MAN. I'm now a Master Expert (Tier 3) Farmer.

Spent half the day farming, had fun doing so! Going to work on my other skills though, since I can only smoke so much of the pipeweed I grow

Ran around with Strider earlier, because I'm cool like dat like dat.

I'm supposed to be scholar and I don't understand it and I don't want to waste my time trying to understand when I could be doing quests and leveling up :|

Addictive game is still addictive, but I already kind of miss 'home' aka mah elven lands... Ran to Bree and things are so confusing and complicated there... Like wtf you have to gain some kind of respect? Maybe I'll just level up there a little and then go finish more stuff at home...

Got a horse today.
It's red like a sportscar, and with how fast it goes, it may as well be one.

Here's my character, Manoerian, playing "Sekai wa Summer Party" on the horse on a lightpole.

I'm now taking suggestions on what to name it.

Eh?? Didn't I make a post in this thread with pictures??? Where has it disappeared? WTF??

Suggestions for horsey name:
Backdancer
Smileage
Genkimono

Also, to get this straight, you got the horse from Lotro store with turbine points you gain from gaming? I only get one option for horsey when I click "standard mounts", is that it? Cuz it only says "riding skill" and I'm like.. does that include the horse or what :?

To get a horse, it's two steps.

First you need the riding skill from the store, which you buy with your turbine points.

Then you go to the horse farm where they sell the actual horses.  A basic mount is 200 silver, but the faster ones are 500 silver.
Once you buy one, you get something like a 60% discount on any future horses you happen to buy.

I like the Genkimono idea for my horse's name, especially since it's a red horse.
Too bad you can't whip it to make it go faster, haha.

Man, Tolkien is such a Finnaboo and the LotRO designers are taking that to a new level. I was cracking up going through the Giant-kin camps where everyone had a Finnish first name. Urho, Mauno, Eero, Tahvo, etc. They're like CLASSIC Finnish names of the old, some still widely used.

Kekkonen in your screencap, lol. It's a Finnish surname, and probably a reference to Urho Kekkonen, no doubt our most legendary president.

And stuff like Rauta-lehmä Orcs, what the fuck. Rauta-lehmä means IRON COW.
