Remember when there was an SKE & an NMB single just few weeks prior to the sousenkyou single? I always have a thought, what will happen if the sister groups singles also include sousenkyou votes? It seems to make much more sense for a fan to purchase 3~4 types per singles to amass like 9~12 different types for all the AKB, SKE, & NMB singles. Does it make financial sense to do so? It might make some fans purchase more singles in total, as some fans might only plan to buy 3 AKB singles to vote now might wanna increase their haul to 9 or more. But it might make some fans purchase less, as they might plan to buy the SKE/NMB singles anyways & can now purchase less AKB singles to achieve the same voting power.

Also, what about the sub-units publishing in the mix of the vote? Was it suicidal bleeding of fans' voting power? Or is it actually still invaluable exposure to up the vote?

Also, data is rather useful in helping us predict sousenkyou results, no?
Than it make sense to compile some data!

So here's some data from last year just prior to the election:
http://everyday48.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=600&start=780#p88434

I also compiled a simple G+ comparison of where the members were & where they are now in the below table. Some surprise I must say, at least for me.
Google+ with Current followers count & counts just prior to last sousenkyou results:

It might make some fans purchase more singles in total, as some fans might only plan to buy 3 AKB singles to vote now might wanna increase their haul to 9 or more. But it might make some fans purchase less, as they might plan to buy the SKE/NMB singles anyways & can now purchase less AKB singles to achieve the same voting power.

Also, data is rather useful in helping us predict sousenkyou results, no?
Than it make sense to compile some data!

I don't think it would really increase the number of overall votes, although it would definitely dampen the sales of the particular AKB single that has the tickets in them. As it is now I think the votes won't really increase (decrease is a huge possibility given the number of girls leaving), and I don't see how putting votes in sister groups would really change things in that respect. It would definitely capitalize on those who really don't care about AKB to the point of not voting for their fav sister group members when the time comes, but that's a low number imo.

In the end I don't think the Japanese are that unique to the point where they don't think like normal people, collective action problems still exist; people will still realize that one vote in the grand scheme of things means nothing. I doubt that will drive people to buy more than what they're willing to.

I really wonder if G+ data can really correlate to vote numbers .. It should, but maybe G+ doesn't take into account casual fans who wouldn't go to the extent of registering to a new SNS, but would still just punch in some numbers for a vote.

No thanks. Remember this is an election to vote for the members to participate in one AKB48 single - if sister group singles included voting tickets they should be for a senbatsu election for the relevant SKE/NMB/HKT single, just like they have separate SKE and NMB Request Hours as well as the main one.

You should also remember that tickets included in the relevant AKB48 single are just one way to get a vote. You also get one vote for membership of the fanclub, mobile fanclub or if you hold a DMM.com subscription. Since this time last year NMB48 and HKT48 did not have a LOD service - there will already be more votes for sister group members this year than last.

(On a side note, I do mean to write my predictions and also thoughts on positions in the style of SomethingWild at some point... if I get round to it...)

I got really excited haha. I'm really curious about this years outcome! My prediction:

1. Oshima Yuko
2. Kashiwagi Yuki
3. Watanabe Mayu
4. Shinoda Mariko
5. Matsui Jurina
6. Takehashi Minami
7. Kojima Haruna
8. Matsui Rena
9. Yokoyama Yui
10. Sashihara Rino
11. Kitahara Rie
12. Sae Miyazawa
13. Minegishi Minami
14. Shimazaki Haruka
15. Watanabe Miyuki
16. Yamamoto Sayaka

I got really stuck trying to place Sashi, Miichan, Paruru, Sae, Akicha, Sayaka and Umechan. Sashi and Miichan had their scandals but I think their fans will still keep momentum although I see them dropping a few places. Paruru is having a HUGE push but then a push doesn't always equate to high rankings just by taking into account other members in the past but taking into account her previous rankings I think she might just make it for the first time. Sae and Akicha are overseas now and haven't done much in Japan at all but they won't drop off completely off the radar like that; I see Sae making it but Akicha being unlucky and just about losing out like she did before. Oh Sayaka, just like Akicha she missed out on Senbatsu for the first time and as much as I love her, I see her losing momentum fast especially since she lost her captain title. Umechan made senbatsu for the first time by the skin of her teeth but other members are getting popular fast so I see Umechan dropping a few places.

Really though I worry for girls like Amina, Sayaka, Myao, Mochi, Harugon, Sakippe, Suuchan, Mikapon and Lovetan etc. A lot of younger girls are coming through and a lot of sister groups are gaining popular members so girls who have been in AKB for a long time are dropping fast like flies.

SOUSENKYO NEWS!

You better sit down for this one.

The system is changing. They're going to basically make it so you have to register to be in the sousenkyo. Registration is from 31st March to 7th April. There are 3 conditions that make you eligible to apply to enter the sousenkyo:
1. If you are a current member
2. If you are an ex-AKB transferee (Sae, Mariya, Akicha, Harugon)
3. If you have been in AKB for a period of 4 years or longer

Condition #3 is very interesting. Because that also means that certain graduates can apply, unless there's some twist that I'm not getting.

edit: #3 has now been amended, and it's clear-cut that he means graduates/past akb members. Carry on with the freakout.

Does this mean I can finally vote for Togasaki?

It's an interesting way of letting the older girls bow out without having it be a huge deal. But at the same time, one wonders why they included option 3 at all.

That 3rd one is weird but very interesting because the graduated members especially Acchan can participate for this senbatsu election! And KKS Miichan can participate since she has been in AKB for more than 4 years.

And why is that 3rd one is weird? Because if the graduated members participate for this election, the graduations would be wasted!

I started to laugh when I saw the hoopla on twitter but to be honest... imagine such possibilities :nervous

But I think it will be quite normal unless many decide not to even sign up, oh well we can always try to get a surprise :nervous

So, taken from https://twitter.com/KawaeiJuri/status/316586580435423232,  here's a list of graduated members who are eligible to apply to be in the election - note, this doesn't mean that they will take part:

・平田 4年185日 - Hirata Rikako
・小野 4年213日 - Ono Erena
・米沢 5年64日 - Yonezawa Rumi
・奥 5年113日 - Oku Manami
・大堀 6年34日 - Ohori Megumi
・野呂 6年34日 - Noro Kayo
・仲谷 6年93日 - Nakaya Sayaka
・平嶋 6年98日 - Hirajima Natsumi
・浦野 6年153日 - Urano Kazumi
・佐藤由 6年153日 - Sato Yukari
・佐藤夏 6年218日 - Sato Natsuki
・増田 6年276日 - Masuda Yuka
Maeda Atsuko

Remember that they have to apply by April 7th...

As for the election being at the Nissan Concert... that seems a bit odd to me - two huge events in the AKB calendar bolted together - and stress of elections within the joy of a big concert...
