Making Melodies (GAM, hints of Ishiyoshi)
It was mid-morning, and Miki Fujimoto was already deep in worry. She felt frantic, and needed to talk to someone, anyone. It was lucky, then, that she saw one of her closest friend, Hitomi Yoshizawa, walking aimlessly down a hallway. After a few seconds of deliberation; did she really want to talk about this? she called out to her friend.
“Yocchan!” The tall girl turned around as Miki ran up to her.
“Miki! What’s wrong?” Yossy asked at the look of worry on the friend’s face. Yossy knew Miki as a confident girl, so seeing her friend worry was a troublesome, new thing.
“I have a bit of a dilemma, Yocchan… I need your advice,” Miki let out, nervously, looking at the floor. “er…ano… I might have accidentally, no that’s not the right word for it…”
“Miki, out with it. I’m sure what you have to say won’t surprise me. We’re friends, and we’ve been friends for a long time. I’ll support you, no matter what,” Yossy said, truly meaning every word.
“Last night I slept with Aya. And we did more than sleep.”
Yossy blinked. It wasn’t quite what she might have expected, but not the strangest thing she’d ever heard. If Miki had told her she had slept with anyone other than Aya, THEN that would have been more surprising. “I see.”
“I don’t know what to do, Yocchan! I want advice!” Miki cried out, throwing her arms around Yossy. Yossy was surprised at this outward display of emotion; it wasn’t something that Miki did very often. At the back of Hitomi’s mind it briefly registered that Miki did smell faintly of the perfume Aya often wore, but only at the back of her mind; her main thought was on helping her friend.
“It’ll be alright, Miki. So, what happened yesterday?”
Miki pulled away from Yossy’s hug, and folded her arms slightly. “These past few days we’ve been filming the promotional video for our new single as GAM, Melodies.”
“Oh, is that the one where you’re all over each other the whole time?”
“Yeah. In the song we’re supposed to be a couple or something, but the whole song is basically… hands on. But anyways we had just been filming the parts where we have to be feeding each other suggestively when Aya invited me over to her apartment to have dinner. Normal stuff. She made curry udon which was delicious, by the way, and then, after dinner, we decided to have some more wine and watch something on TV. We weren’t drunk or anything, but a little uninhibited, and we started to kiss. I can’t remember who started it, but I think the excuse was that we had to practice for the kissing scene in the Melodies PV. We eventually moved to the bedroom and”
“OK, OK,” Yossy said, waving her hand in dismissal, “I get it. I don’t need to hear the details. So you slept together. What’s the problem? Everyone’s thought you’ve been getting it on for years.”
“What’s the problem?! Yocchan, Aya and I slept together. Everything’s different now. Was it a one time thing, or are we dating? What do I say, what do I do?”
“Relax, relax.” Yossy attempted to comfort Miki by awkwardly patting her on the shoulder, but then she realized something and took her hand away swiftly.
“Wait, wait, did you just leave her alone in her bed, after spending the night? If you did, that’s not a good way to start off a relationship. Once I left Rika after spending the night at her place, and she was so pissed off at me for a couple of days. It was because I had some MoMusu stuff to do, a dance practice I think...”
“Actually,” Miki cut in, “Aya left first. She had to shoot some commercial quickly, so she left me a note saying we’ll meet here.”
“Oh, OK. Anyways, why are you telling me this? I mean, shouldn’t you talk to Aya, if you want to know where you guys are in your relationship?”
“Yossy! I can’t do that! It’d be the same as saying “I’m desperate, and need this to be a deep relationship!””
“Don’t you want it to be? You’ve had feelings for Aya forever, right?”
“That’s not the point. Anyways, I’m asking you what to do, because you’re one of my best friends. Also, you’ve also been in a relationship with Rika for so long, that you must know SOEMTHING about relationships.”
“Well,” Yossy said, folding her arms, “you have feelings for her, right? Romantic feelings?”
“Yes, of course,”
“Then tell her that. Tell her you want a relationship. You two are such good friends, I really can’t see that telling her would change anything.”
Miki nodded, but was still far from convinced. She was about to reply with some snark, when she heard something.
“Miki!!!” Called an energetic voice from down the hall. The two of them looked, and saw Aya waving and running over to them. “I just got done with the commercial shoot. The director of our PV wants us to start getting dressed and our make-up done in five minutes, so feel free to finish your conversation with Yoshizawa-san and meet me in the make-up room, OK?”
“Aya…” Miki started.
Aya moved over closer to Miki, wrapped her arms around the other’s neck, and, after making sure that the hallway was clear of everyone except the three of them, pressed a soft kiss on Miki’s lips. It wasn’t like the passionate kisses of the night before, but it was full of feeling and romance. It lasted only a brief few seconds, out of fear that someone might see, but with the emotion that came with it, it may have lasted much longer. Aya looked into Miki’s eyes, and said, with a bright smile, “I love you. I’m so happy about what happened between us.”
Almost abruptly, Aya withdrew her arms and said while walking away “I’ll see you in a few minutes, Mikitty!” Aya waved, and walked into their dressing room.
Yossy stood, not quite knowing what to say. It seemed as if everything changed in a brief moment; a love was formed right before her eyes. After a few seconds of Miki standing, stunned, Yossy merely said “Well, seems like your problem’s been cleared up. I’m going to go see Rika now. Bye!” and walked towards the part of the building where v-u-den was rehearsing.
Miki broke from her daze. Aya LOVED her. A wide grin grew on her face and she went on her way to see the girl she loved.
