Been having some crazy Momusu nostalgia the past few days... was thinking the fact that most of my favorites are gone would deter me from watching the new stuff but I guess the love never dies.

...now to figure out who 9th and 10th gen are.  :panic:

This is part 16 of a series that YouTuber artist extraodinaire  Berryzeer  has posted.

His initial comment on this clip is a quote from the David Bowie song "Starman",  that is used in this clip:

Let all the children boogie. :otomerika: :otomerika: :otomerika: :otomerika: :otomerika: :otomerika: :otomerika: :otomerika: (one for Maiha)

Because I'm vain and I feel that it hasn't gotten much exposure, here's an article I wrote recently for Selective Hearing on Morning Musume:
http://selective-hearing.com/selective-hearing-roundtable-thems-fighting-words-rebuttal/

I guess I just wanted more people to see it, since I'm quite proud of it.

Slack san, well done! You commented on many things that I had noticed, and answered some questions that I had as well. All in a well written, fact based essay.
1) I remember thinking how cool gokkies and 4th generation were, and downer fans were going on and on about how without Miss x or Miss b, etc. the group was sunk, and that these newbies were ruining a once great group.
2) I saw a lot of 30+ guys at a fan event, but as you mentioned in your article, at the event that I attended, I also  saw Moms with their young daughters, high school aged girls, young couples with a baby or two, high school and university aged boys (C-ute were a highly popular group that day with that demographic).....a good mix of fans across the board
3) I always supected that MM, in the last few years, was a lot like the Greatful Dead..................record and album sales fine, but live shows are the real story- with all the other Morning Musume Heads in attendance is a traveling circus, where the town follows the circus.

I've been thinking for a long time about their similarities to the Grateful Dead as well.
It's hard to keep record sales up for decades, but if you have awesome concerts, people will follow you forever.

I also kind of think of Morning Musume as a kind of modern analogue to Takarazuka.
Even though it's not that popular in the mainstream anymore, it's like a cultural institution by now.
As such, it will always have fans and always will have girls who want to be in it.

Nice one, Slack  :thumbsup

I read your article around the time it came out. I wanted to re-post it in this thread, but somehow never got around to it.

Oh, and I also wanted to post this:
