She's also quite cute. How did she just drop into obscurity while a bunch of worse acts are pretty popular... Toshiba-EMI must've really fucked up

I was wondering where she ended up. I've heard some of her stuff a little after getting into Japanese music. She has a really good voice. But other than that, I wasn't too interested. I should give her another try.

Well I did saw some of ther live performances and her voice was surreal. Yeah. But it seems like not too many people were interested in the type of music she made. Maybe because it wasn't...like...poppish enough?

aedon gave me a song by Asuca to play in the marimari memorial show back in August, and I didn't know anything about the artist until like after the show when we talked about it more.

I swear when I was listening I imagined a really mature singer in her late twenties or something. Then I was like, wow, 13? No way...

indie rock, post-rock?

Sounds pretty cool from what I've heard. And they have a megane chick bassist. And the guy has cool bowl hair. And their name is bill gates.

I like their sound! I should be like you and order albums by the masses. Getting tired of looking for stuff by obscure bands. Might as well buy, lol.

lol they jacked the melody from the school bell. Not bad, but not very interesting. The best part of the song is that break down in the end, but maybe that's just the hardcore kid in me XD They have a similar style as me though. lol I'd like to hear more.

Ooh acoustic girl, I found out about them when I clicked on every band link on rin toshite's old site XD Haven't really heard much though

never heard the other band though, but looking that I like most of the bands they toured with, they're probably pretty awesome.

(LOL@RuRuRu, that's the band I mentioned in the GAM thread >_>)

Hell yeah, boy. It's expensive as hell, but most of the times it's all worth it. lol

RuRuRu are awesome. I initially planned to order their album, but Amazon didn't have it so I had to settle with 酸素十倍.

*BUMP*

Some more links from myspace.

But this time some solo female acts.

http://www.myspace.com/aimeecharcoal
acoustic, folk pop. She has a beautiful voice. She can go places I think.

http://www.myspace.com/tamurapan
up-beat, mellow, contemporary pop-rock. Very pretty songs. Check out her short video clips, she's crazy lol

http://www.myspace.com/mesomeso
can't really put this in a genre lol. Similar style to World's End Girlfriend, but not as intense. Pretty and moody is really the only way I can describe it lol

Not exactly japanese, but he's in a japanese band. I met him on soulseek. His friends list has lots of really good ambient electronica acts from japan
http://www.myspace.com/mikemcguire

Edit:

here's one I just found.

http://www.myspace.com/fujitamaiko
she plays keyboard/piano and has a really cute and pretty singing voice.

- i like them, kinda electropoprock.

detroit7
http://www.detroitseven.com/
- very american/british sound, with a vocalist/gutarist, who's like "if kurt kobain were japanese, and were female"

advantage lucy

quite popular actually, yet still kinda obscure enough, music style is mostly pop rock, but it's very good

SLY / Stephanie Yanez

She is not exactly Japanese but she sings in japanese too , so I guess that counts :P
She mainly performs as mainvocalist with her band SLY and her voice kicks ass.

*age*

http://www.myspace.com/qomolangmatomato

I found out about this band a while back but never really bothered looking for their stuff. They seem to have gained quite a following in japan's indie/punk scene recently. Pretty nice fun stuff. There live show looks really fun.

I found one person with their album on slsk but I'm still in queue. So I'm trying my luck here, anyone have their stuff and don't mind sharing?

I had them recommended to me not too long ago. I'm thinking of ordering チョモと僕は柵の中 next month since I'm getting a bunch of other stuff anyway.
