Ueto Aya tries out the shimada hairstyle for her TBS drama

Actress Ueto Aya has revealed her first-ever ’shimada’ high, chignon hairstyle for her special TBS drama, “Kaneko Misuzu Monogatari -Minna Chigatte, Minna Ii-“.

Ueto plays the lead role in the drama based on the life of poet Kaneko Misuzu. It begins broadcasting on TBS on July 9 at 9:00 PM. “In the drama, it’s not the happiest wedding in the whole world, but wearing an outfit like this one made my heart feel tense, so it ends up feeling really dignified,” she said with a meek expression on her face while dressed in a wedding kimono.

Kaneko Misuzu was a poet who appeared like a comet at the end of the Taisho era. She ended her own life when she was 26-years-old. The drama is full of ups and downs with Imai Tsubasa playing her lover and brother as neither of them are aware of their familial tie.

Ueto Aya to star in new NHK drama as a criminal

It was announced that actress Ueto Aya will be starring in the new NHK drama “Itsuka Hi no Ataru Basho de“, and will play a role of a criminal for the first time.

“Itsuka Hi no Ataru Basho de” is based on Nonami Asa’s novel. Ueto will be playing a college student ‘Komoriya Hako’ who falls in love with a male host (male who pours drinks & flirt with women in host clubs). In order to make the man the number 1 host at the host club, Hako keeps supplying him with money. However, when she eventually runs out of money, she resorts to crime. She robs men by tempting them to a love hotel, and secretly placing sleeping pills to take their money and valuables.

Finally Hako gets arrested, and is condemned to 7 years at a female prison in Kanto. At the prison, Hako meets a woman named ‘Eguchi Ayaka’ (will be played by Iijima Naoko) who was condemned for murder. After both women serve their full terms in prison, they start living together in Yanaka, Tokyo. The theme of this drama is a friendship between women who encourage each other and try to establish themselves while carrying heartache.

Other cast members are Asano Atsuko (as Hako’s mother), Saito Takumi (as Hako’s boyfriend after she was discharged from prison), and the theme song will be sung by singer songwriter Matsutoya Yumi.

“Itsuka Hi no Ataru Basho de” will start airing on January 8th, 2013 with a total run of 10 episodes.
