being in austin has it's advantages. especially during SXSW. i've been to a japan nite preview back in 07. saw go!go!7188, oreskaband. and what's really great about the venues/stages is they're intimate. you can literally reach out and touch the band. but don't do that, that's assault, brotha.

but i have to say, the biggest value was seeing dengue fever on april 27th last year. chicha libre opened for them with some dope spanish music. i took my DVD to get signed by DF and they were in the crowd dancing and stuff. i felt like a giddy school girl. awesome night.

i saw primus, public enemy and anthrax when they did that 'bring the noise' song - was a good show... the deicide/suffocation show was a good value cuz it was many hours long and had alot of bands play before the 2 headliners...tickets were 10 bux maybe? don't remember as it was like 15 years ago lol

8 dlls for a local metal fest; the bands sucked (mostly all of them) and the venue was HORRIBLE (a theatre, no space for slam or shit) but since I went with a dear friend of mine (who got laid with a random drummer), it was a cool day XD

"Most value" would almost certainly point to the Utada Hikaru show last January.  $30 for fifth or sixth row in a club venue: we could see the sweat on her brow.  An equivalent ticket in Japan would cost, what, Y20,000 or more?

I go to a lot of indie concerts at a local venue; the tickets are usually in the $20-$30 range, no matter where you get. It's my absolute favorite venue (anyone know Minneapolis? First Avenue?) and that's where my favorite bands play. Probably when I saw my absolute favorite band, The New Pornographers there. So much value, it's not even funny.

Scored free tickets to see John Legend... that was nice... even though the show was outside and it was FREEZING at the time.

Also, got free tickets from work to see Alicia Keys. <333

Wha!? Me too! Seen John Legend and Jonny Lang for free, twas awesome. Also saw Finger Eleven, Seether, Hinder and Staind for like 20 bucks at some festival. Girlfriend I went with at the time bought the tickets, wasn't really my crowd but it was fun.

Chiddy Bang, MGMT, Macklemore have come to my school before and gave a concert. [Cost = free.]
