Title: Playing On The Edge [CLOSED]
Post by: writerjunkie on December 14, 2008, 08:15:57 PM
CHAPTER 1

“The building is surrounded. Send in back up.”

I hear a man whisper into the radio, stationed on the dashboard. I sigh, more men jump out of three more vans, ready for action. This was another busy night to me. I like to call this my daily routine. I’m pretty much your average nineteen year-old college student besides the fact of going out at night to hunt monsters that lurk in the shadows. I get decent grades too might I add. And fighting vamps and other monsters are just a bonus. Yes, you’ve heard right…vampires. Let’s not forget demons and werewolves too. Any monster you could think of, that’s pretty much what I’ve seen and killed. But hey, I’m not so innocent as I claim to be. My biggest secret, and everyone in this group has one, I’m not exactly human. Well…I’m part human and vampire if you must know. I was born that way. Yeah I know what you’re thinking, “How could I you BORN a vampire?”
You’re not the only one that happens to make it a big deal. Quite frankly, I don’t really give a damn on wondering why, it just happened. Everyone talks about me though, telling others how I’m near invincible, just because anything that should kill a normal vampire; doesn’t kill me. I haven’t tried the stake to the heart yet and neither do I plan to. I’m not stupid. Another thing, I don’t need blood like those parasites do. I don’t crave it either. And I DON’T find it odd killing my own kind. I was raised human all my life anyway, but I won’t go into detail about my past. That’s something that has to stick with me the rest of my immortal life. I look at my gun lying neatly on the dashboard, beside the radio. I grip it firmly into my hand, waiting for my cue incase this plan goes wrong. There’s always a plan going wrong when you play with vampires. And I’m always the back up plan.

“Scared we can’t take care the nest of vamps ourselves?” Maimi teases

I look at her after fiddling with my gun. She puts on a little smirk then rests both hands to the steering wheel. I look at her with no smile. You can’t blame me for being a little hostile with my work. Forgive me if I get a tab bit serious-minded about what I do and how much I hate vampires, but how would you feel after you saw your whole family get slaughtered from these low life bastards? It was my father’s doing by the way. A lovely birthday gift when I turned seventeen. I give Maimi a solemn stare.

“I would like to get this job done. You know how Ai gets if a mission fails. Besides, vampires don’t like playing too fair. I should know I’m one of them.” I coldly reply

Maimi’s smile disappears, her eyes focus back to the group of men lined around the apartment building. I looked at the scene through the car mirror. I glance at my reflection unfazed. Drawing my attention away from the group of men, I look over my features. I have fair skin, I could get a tan if I wanted to with no hassle of becoming a bucket of ash, my eyes aren’t discolored that orange yellow or golden flicker, and I have no demon face. I told you…I’m nothing like those bloodsuckers. The only mark that separates me from being human is the two small sharp fangs. Those are the only things I can’t hide. No one would be able to tell that I’m one of those beasts though, unless you’re a vampire yourself. Vampires can sense other vampires and a lot of them seem to hate me the most. I can’t blame them…I have what they want.

“Permission to enter?” The same voice from before ask

I grab the radio.

“Just go in already and get this done with! I have homework to finish.” I demand

I slam the radio back down to the center of the dashboard and look back into the mirror. The guys in black lightweight amour quietly begin to the enter. I feel Maimi’s eyes on me. I turn around.

“What?” I hiss

“We’re supposed to be more organized. We didn’t do months of training for nothing you know?” She tells me in a calm voice

I scoff. She’s always about rules. Always being the good little dog she is. Well, she isn’t really a dog. If you want to be more precise she’s a werewolf, but still. That’s a dog to me, just a very vicious kind of dog. One that can ripe your throat out or eat you alive. She hates when I call her that. She’s very touchy about her monstrous side. I can understand though. It is a little bit of a heavy burden to have this type of power and not be able to control it. She’s a constant threat to those she cares for. I watch her gray eyes flicker with anger. Everyone here has discolored eyes. That’s how you can tell who’s who around here, but me…I have nothing. They’re brown, a human color.

“You and following rules. Sometimes to get the bad guys, you have to break the rules.” I smirk

She’s quiet again and goes back to looking at apartment complex. Everyone’s inside, for some reason though, I get this gut feeling that something is about to go terribly wrong. I keep staring at the building kind of hoping I’m not right. In seconds, a top portion of the apartment explodes. Bricks, concert, and other debris rain down everywhere. I keep staring into the mirror while Maimi ducks her head as a reflex. A hot gust of wind that came from the explosion blows in our direction. The thick smell of smoke and blood fill my senses. This isn’t good.

“That wasn’t supposed to happen!” Maimi screams

I keep watching the scene before me, waiting for anything else to happen. And like predicted another section of the building explodes followed shortly by another. Sometimes I wish my predictions were wrong.

“Abort! Abort! This place is rigged. We’re evacuating, now!” The leader of the unit announces.

In the background you could hear yelling, shooting, and more explosions. I don’t think any of them will make it out alive to be honest. I turn away from the mirror tired from what I’m seeing. Maimi looks at me like I have an answer. She panicking, I can sense it.

“We have to leave now!”

She puts her hand on the keys to start the van. I place my hand on her wrist.

“We have to complete our mission.” I firmly speak

“Are you crazy?! We can’t go in there! The whole place is on fire!”

I squeeze her wrist to get her attention. She winces. Her icy gray eyes lock with mine. She looks at me in disbelief. Franticly, she shakes her head.

“You can’t go in there! You’ll die.”

She sounds almost like she cares for me. I just shrug. I never leave a mission incomplete. That’s just me being stubborn and I also refuse to admit defeat.

“I’ll be back. You can leave if you want.” I offer

“You’re crazy! You can’t…”

I let her wrist go and push open the door. This wasn’t a debate. Once I set my mind on something, it’s kind of hard to get me out of it. With my gun by my side, I walk out onto the dry dirt. Maimi looks at me in horror.

“I’ll meet you back at the base. Go, your girl is waiting for you.”

I give her a faint smile and walk away from the door. I ignore Maimi’s yelling and telling me to come back. Someone’s gotta make this city a safer place.

“Reina wait!” She pleads

I keep walking. It’s time to see just how invincible I am.

I got this idea after watching the Hangry & Angry PV. I have most of the plot worked out. Hopefully I'll be able to finish this fic. I won't tell anything else about this fic you'll all have to see for yourselves lol.

I'm starting to wonder if JPH!P forum members have an unhealthy obsession with vampires.

CHAPTER 2

I don’t how I’m going to explain this one to Ai. She isn’t the type of person who takes bad news well, but I don’t think I’ll be that much into trouble as Reina is about to be. And that’s IF she makes it out alive. She’s always being reckless when we do missions together. It’s almost like she WANTS to die. We’re supposed to work together as a team and do things the right way. I might not know her well, but I don’t want her to die, knowing I could have helped her.
I make a left turn and slowly drive the car into the driveway. I’m a little nervous to face Ai. She’s very touchy when the topic happens to be about Reina. I think the only reason why she keeps Reina around is, because even though she might not listen; she still gets the job done in the most effective way. I turn the key in the ignition. The car engine dies down. Time to face the big boss. I walk out and go through the garage door, not knowing what to expect. I make my way through the crowded halls. If I’m quick enough, I could reach my room and not have to face Ai. That’s a good idea. I pick up my pace to reach my door. Damn it, why does my room have to be so far right now! It wasn’t like this before. I jog my way through the long hallways ignoring the strange looks everyone is giving me as I pass. I’m almost there!

“Maimi?”

I stop dead in my tracks. Slowly, I spin around afraid to see who it is that’s calling me. I was relieved only slightly to see a smiling face looking at me. I exhaled.

“Airi, don’t sneak up on me like that!”

“Sorry.”

She looks down to the ground. I feel bad for snapping at her. Now I feel stupid.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to snap at you like that. It’s just…”

“You failed your mission?” She bluntly says

I flinch. I tend to take failed missions to the heart. I also don’t like to admit my defeat either.

“Sort of.”

That’s kind of the truth in a way. The mission would be complete if Reina comes back very much alive. And if she doesn’t well…that’s self-explanatory. Airi embraces me around my waist. I feel myself blush. Timidly, I hug her back. We’ve been dating almost for a year and I know I shouldn’t be so shy like we’ve only been dating for a week, but I can’t help it. I’m fine with kissing her, but any physical contact like this kind of makes me a little jumpy. She never asks about it.

“It’ll be ok Maimi. Ai might get a little mad, but that’ll go away.”

I look down into her cheery eyes. She’s always positive about things, no matter how bad the situation is. That’s what I like about her. She smiles. I dip down and kiss the top of her head. This time she blushes. She buries her face into my chest, hiding. I laugh. She’s always so cute.

“I made you something while you were gone.”

Her eyes light with joy as she says that. She drags me in the opposite direction of my room and leads me right into the weapon room. What could she have made me in here? I’m curious.

“I know it isn’t much and I had a really hard time making it, but I hope you still like it.”

She let’s go my hand and tells me to stay. She rummages through a pile of steal and scrap metal on the table for a while. Until she finds what she’s looking for. She comes back with something shiny in her hand. Both hands are tucked behind her back.

“You ready?”

I nod.

“Tada!”

She bears out both her hands to me. I look down to the piece of metal in her palms. It’s a black glove with a long metal plate covering the knuckles and wrist. I look at it in surprise. I didn’t think she could make something like this. I’m not sure what to say. She takes this the wrong way of course.

“You don’t like it? I…um…I can always make you something else!” She goes to throw it away. I grab her by the wrist and pull her back.

“No, I do like it. I just didn’t know you had it in you to make something like this. Can I try it on?”

Her perky smile is back in place and she hands me the glove. I pick it up looking it over carefully. It turns out; the whole thing is covered with metal plates. It only covers up my knuckles though, and leaves all my fingers bear. I slip the glove on to my right hand. Inside it’s made out of this soft kind of thick cloth. It feels nice.

“It fits perfectly. Thank you Airi. I’ll use this next time I go for another mission.”

I look the polished steel over. I start to move my hand around to get use to the feel and added weight. I curl my hand into a fist. Spikes instantly stick out where my knuckles are. I jolt from shock.

“Sorry, I forgot to tell you about that.” Airi nervously giggles

I open my hand and the three-inch spikes go back into their hidden compartment. As simple as this thing might look, it could be a great help in battle. I carefully take the glove off to not have the spikes stick out again.

“I’ll use this tomorrow night when I go out again.” I promise

Airi nearly jumps for joy when I tell her that. She really is cute.

“Don’t you mean when you go out next week?”

I go stiff. Crap, it’s Ai! I’m in for it now. Taking a deep breath, I face her. Please don’t ask about Reina.

“Tomorrow’s a full moon.”

Damn it, I forgot about that. Looks like, I’ll be busy a few nights locked in a cage. I don’t want Airi around to hear me. Ai enters the room and stares at me. Her red-ish colored eyes pierce mine. I gulp. Don’t let her small stature fool you. Ai’s one demon you don’t want to mess with. She has power that even in my wolf form I’m sure I can’t beat. I think that’s why she’s the leader around here, because everyone fears her. But she’s also very smart and can get her teammates out of almost any jam. I admire that about her.

“How did the mission go?”

Her eyes flicker. I fidget. There’s no way working around this. She always wants answers straight away. I scratch the back of my neck thinking of how to put my words.

“It uh…things didn’t go so well.”

Her fists curl up tight.

“What do you mean?” Her voice is icy and low

“Um…well it turns out…the building was filled with bombs. There was nothing I could do. The whole thing was in flames.” I brace myself for her outburst.

“Where’s Reina?”

I should have seen that coming sooner.

“She went into the flaming building.”

Before she could scream a single word, the front door to the complex was kicked open. As a reflex everyone ducked grabbing weapons to fight back. Ai ran out the door.

“Stay here.” I whisper, to Airi.

Then I ran to see what was going on. I made sure to not walk too far from the room just in case whatever was attacking got near Airi. I would kill them before they could get a single step closer to her. My muscles twitched. A low growl comes out my mouth as I brace myself.

“So much for a warm welcoming.”

I feel myself relax. Ai lowers her gun. Reina stands there smirking. She’s covered with sooth and cuts. There are a few rips in her clothes and it’s burned at the edges. Ai doesn’t seem very happy. They’re both staring at each other.

“You can save the lecturing for later Ai. Right now there are some people in the van that really need some medical attention.”

Her smirk gets even bigger. She wins that round and she knows it. It’ll hold Ai back for a few. I shake my head. She always does things like this, normally if something like this is done you get no second chances. You’re kicked out. To Reina this is her… sixth chance.  I’m not entirely sure. I lost count after three.

“You heard what she said! Get to work!” Ai scolds

People run out to the van and others start pulling out medical supplies. Reina walks pass Ai. I place an arm on her shoulder when she passes me. She stops and turns her head.

“Could you have been a little more settling?” I firmly ask, and motion to the broken door.

“I didn’t have my keys with me.”

She walks away ending our conversation. It seems impossible to get through to her. I don’t think anyone ever can. Airi walks into the hall curious.

“Hi Reina!” She cheerfully greets.

Reina doesn’t give a reply back. The door to her room opens and slams shut. She isn’t the only pain in Ai’s neck. She’s pretty much mine too. Airi puts her hand on my waist and I instantly become tense again.

“We should go help them.”

I look down at her. She seems worried about the others. She shouldn’t be seeing this. She’s still young.

“I’ll do it.”

She frowns.

“I’ve helped others before. I can do this.” She defensively states

“This could be worse. Another thing, tomorrow I don’t want you to be here when the moon comes.”

She let’s go of my waist and crosses her arms over her chest. I know how she wants to help everyone and feel that she’s helpful around here, but I just don’t want to risk her getting hurt. Of all the people here, SHE’S the one I care about most. I move so I’m standing face to face with her.

“You won’t hurt me. You’ll be in a cage.”

“That’s besides the point. Have you ever thought that the cage might not hold me in for long? I just don’t want you to get hurt. Try to understand.”

I kiss her on the lips before she could protest again. It’s only for a quick second, but that did the trick. She’s completely speechless and blushing. I wrap both my arms around her waist and pull her close.

“I want to make sure you’re safe. Just do this for me…please?”

She nods still in a trance. I smile and hug her. I just want to hold her for a little. She hugs me back like she’s afraid I’ll disappear when I let go. I burry my face into her neck to take in her sweet smell. She always smells nice. Another thing I like about her. Suddenly, the pit of my stomach burns and I feel this strange urge that I’ve felt once before. My head starts to fill with these bad thoughts like before. Quickly, I break the hug and back away. I stare down at my feet.

“Uh…I better go…help them.”

“I’ll uh…be in my room than.”

She sounds sad. And it’s all because of me. I’m so stupid! I always do this when we get close or have a moment like this. I really want to tell her why, but I don’t think she’ll understand. I don’t mean to put her through all this confusion. When I start to open up to her I then push her away. She walks away without a goodbye. I feel even worse. Why does everything have to be so difficult with me?! This relationship will never work if I keep doing this. I can’t think about this right now. I have too many things on my mind.

“Hey are you going stand there or help?” Ai demands

I jog over to help the others. This will keep my mind off things for now.

lol well it's just a fun and easy theme for me to write. Not everyone in here is a vampire now, but you'll have to see. Chapter two well be posted soon.

This is good!!!  :D

Incredible ...
the story is serious and mature!
It is interesting to see a mature airi.
Tanaka style rebel!
Yajima and Tanaka  the rebels.
It is interesting!

They, are responsible for killing the bad guys.
So that means, that...
they, are a cold blooded killer.
Maimi is showing a weak side next to airi.
But this shows that they are strong by nature and those with cold blood can also know the feeling of love.
In this case all those who have supernatural powers.

My suspected is that there is something between Tanaka and Takahashi.
Maybe a relationship ...
Tanaka is this type of girl that had a dark past ...
but ...
has not revealed anything of it.
I wonder ...
How they met  Maimi and Tanaka?
And how Tanaka and Maimi ended up being co-workers?
The two seem to have a difficult character ...

It is interesting to see Tanaka defying to Takahashi.
Maimi I thought it was a vampire, I would have liked to see her as a vampire.
Hopefully soon,  Maimi immune to the new Moons!
And she do not have to turn into a beast.
Therefore!
I sense that there will be many dangerous adventures, full of challenges in the lives of Maimi and Tanaka.
The two friends that struggle against evil!
Airi is so sweet!
Takahashi... she is the head of Maimi and Tanaka.
A mature and passionate romance between Airi and Maimi. is always pleasant to read.
luck with your next chapter!
And thank you for making an interesting story!  :) :P

CHAPTER 3

Reina’s been by far the most stressful thing on my mind. You can tell her something a hundred times and she would, I’m sure ON purpose do the opposite of what you just said. I know I should just kick her out and that would be the end of all my mind splitting headaches, but as much of a bitch she’s been to everyone, I can see she has such potential in becoming a leader. But I can’t let my team be guided by a leader who’s completely reckless. That’s enough thinking about her for one night. I would really love a break from all this, but as always duty calls. I still have one more thing to do. I march my way down the hall and to a room I know best. I don’t bother to knock. I push the door open. Reina looks at me and goes to her draw to put on a shirt.  She isn’t covered in sooth anymore and all her cuts healed as I expected.

“Don’t you ever lock your door?”

She goes back to her draw.

“I didn’t lock it because I knew you were coming.”

She seems to know me well than anyone here. And I’m not sure if that’s starting to be a good thing.

“What if I was someone else?”

She chuckles.

“No one is as stupid enough to come in my room without knocking.”

I glare at her and let her slide for calling me stupid. Sometimes, she just says these things to push my buttons and I hate to let her win. I don’t say anything else.

“This is the part where you start to lecture me again.” She grins

Always trying to be a smart ass. I enter and quietly close the door. I stand there for a while just watching her. She takes the two small pigtails out of her hair and brushes her brownish locks. She looks different with her hair down. I think she also looks better with it down. She looks at me through the mirror while still brushing her hair.

“You want to start the conversation this time with something I DON’T know?”

I laugh. Always trying to be the one in control. This is one of the reasons why I think she would be good to take my place. I fold my arms and tilt my head. She stops brushing my hair, but continues to look at me through the mirror.

“I’m not sure where to start.” I tuck my hands into my pockets. “The things you’ve done. This whole week you’ve been nothing, but careless. I should really kick you out and that would be the end of that.”

She turns around, standing against the draw.

“But you won’t.”

I go up to her so we’re now eye to eye. I gaze right into her brown eyes. I can’t tell what she’s thinking or what she’s feeling; she hides that well, but I don’t care about that at this moment. She’s really starting to piss me off.

“Just because I’ve given you so many chances doesn’t mean I can’t get rid of you.”

I take a deep breath. This will really get her something to argue about.

“In fact, I’m going to suspend you for one week. I don’t want you on any missions during that whole time or I’ll extend your time. Understand?”

She stares at me and this time I can tell what she’s feeling. And that’s hatred. An emotion she shows best. I can’t help, but smile to her defeat. She raises her hand and goes to slap me. She may be quick, but I’m much quicker. I grab her hand by the wrist in a hold that would normally hurt anyone. She doesn’t flinch.

“You may not be like ordinary vampires, but I’ve been living much longer than you.”

She doesn’t seem to get it. Her pride something important to her, she’s still so young.  With her other hand, she tires to hit me, but again I block her attack with my own hand and put both her arms behind her back. I trap them between her and the draw. I can feel my smile get bigger.

“Always so stubborn. What’s a matter? Can’t face the fact that only I can put you in your place?” I tease

She doesn’t do anything. I know she could easily break free, but she doesn’t move. I raise my brow waiting for her counter attack. Instead, She leans in and kisses me. That isn’t as surprising as it sounds, but it IS very distracting. My grip on her wrists disappears. My hands start to travel down to her waist instead. I kiss her back fiercely. She pushes me back and moves herself to sit on top of the draw and pulls me to her by the collar of my shirt. Both her legs wrap around my waist to lock me in. She grabs me by my short hair and puts her lips with mine once again. Her nails claw at my back and even with my shirt on I can feel them starting to dig into my skin. She’s left quite a few scars too. Her hands leave my back and settle to my pants. In one swift motion, she undoes the button. I push her hands away before they could pull down my zipper.

“Not tonight Reina.”

Now she looks like a spoil child who couldn’t for once get what they wanted. I fix my pants and pat my hair back down.

“I have more important things to do. I’m serious about what I said before too. Don’t think I’ve forgotten.” I remind her

She has an even bigger frown. I exit the room saying what I needed to. She’ll get over her little tantrum later. She always does. And before you know it we’ll be back into bed with each other having amazing sex. So I’m really not worried.

“Uh…Takahashi-san?”

Not again. My job is never done.

“Yes?”

The guy cowards as I stare at him. I’m really not in the mood, but this might be urgent.

“I-I…we’ve found some news you might want to look at immediately.”

“Show me.”

He signals for me to follow him. Something tells me this is going to be one long night; much longer than I intended.

She bears out both her hands to me. I look down to the piece of metal in her palms. It’s a black glove with a long metal plate covering the knuckles and wrist. I look at it in surprise. I didn’t think she could make something like this.
Airi made a gauntlet? Cool. :)

Quote
I look the polished steel over. I start to move my hand around to get use to the feel and added weight. I curl my hand into a fist. Spikes instantly stick out where my knuckles are. I jolt from shock.

“Sorry, I forgot to tell you about that.” Airi nervously giggles
Aw, sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Quote
“I’ll use this tomorrow night when I go out again.” I promise

Airi nearly jumps for joy when I tell her that. She really is cute.

“Don’t you mean when you go out next week?”

I go stiff. Crap, it’s Ai! I’m in for it now. Taking a deep breath, I face her. Please don’t ask about Reina.

“Tomorrow’s a full moon.”
Ah right, Maimi's a werewolf.

Quote
“How did the mission go?”

Her eyes flicker. I fidget. There’s no way working around this. She always wants answers straight away. I scratch the back of my neck thinking of how to put my words.

“It uh…things didn’t go so well.”

Her fists curl up tight.

“What do you mean?” Her voice is icy and low
Oh shit...:o

Quote
Before she could scream a single word, the front door to the complex was kicked open. As a reflex everyone ducked grabbing weapons to fight back. Ai ran out the door.

“Stay here.” I whisper, to Airi.
:scared:

Quote
“So much for a warm welcoming.”

I feel myself relax. Ai lowers her gun. Reina stands there smirking. She’s covered with sooth and cuts. There are a few rips in her clothes and it’s burned at the edges. Ai doesn’t seem very happy. They’re both staring at each other.

“You can save the lecturing for later Ai. Right now there are some people in the van that really need some medical attention.”
She made it?

SHE MADE IT! :w00t:

Quote
“Could you have been a little more settling?” I firmly ask, and motion to the broken door.

“I didn’t have my keys with me.”
Well, urgent times call for urgent measures. She had people that needed medical attention, after all.

Quote
Airi puts her hand on my waist and I instantly become tense again.

“We should go help them.”

I look down at her. She seems worried about the others. She shouldn’t be seeing this. She’s still young.

“I’ll do it.”

She frowns.

“I’ve helped others before. I can do this.” She defensively states
Wanting to protect her is good and all, but be careful that it doesn't start to step over the line from protecting her to keeping her completely in the dark/sheltered from it, as that's not a good thing.

Quote
*MAIMI-AIRI TALK*
Airi understands that Maimi is concerned for her safety and doesn't want her hurt.  Still...the way it feels to hear her say it, can't help but wonder if to Airi, it almost sounds like Maimi doesn't want her around, period.

CHAPTER 3
Quote
Reina’s been by far the most stressful thing on my mind. You can tell her something a hundred times and she would, I’m sure ON purpose do the opposite of what you just said. I know I should just kick her out and that would be the end of all my mind splitting headaches, but as much of a bitch she’s been to everyone, I can see she has such potential in becoming a leader.
Now it's Aichan's POV?

Quote
“You want to start the conversation this time with something I DON’T know?”

I laugh. Always trying to be the one in control. This is one of the reasons why I think she would be good to take my place.
Good point. A leader has to be someone that can take the reins and be able to handle them (personal attitudes notwithstanding).

Quote
“Just because I’ve given you so many chances doesn’t mean I can’t get rid of you.”

I take a deep breath. This will really get her something to argue about.

“In fact, I’m going to suspend you for one week. I don’t want you on any missions during that whole time or I’ll extend your time. Understand?”
Whoa, Aichan's putting her foot down. :o

Quote
She doesn’t seem to get it. Her pride something important to her, she’s still so young.  With her other hand, she tires to hit me, but again I block her attack with my own hand and put both her arms behind her back. I trap them between her and the draw. I can feel my smile get bigger.

“Always so stubborn. What’s a matter? Can’t face the fact that only I can put you in your place?” I tease
No, it's NOT wrong that I find this part to be damn hot.

Quote
She doesn’t do anything. I know she could easily break free, but she doesn’t move. I raise my brow waiting for her counter attack. Instead, She leans in and kisses me. That isn’t as surprising as it sounds, but it IS very distracting. My grip on her wrists disappears. My hands start to travel down to her waist instead. I kiss her back fiercely.
Looks like I wasn't the only one.

Quote
I push her hands away before they could pull down my zipper.

“Not tonight Reina.”

Now she looks like a spoil child who couldn’t for once get what they wanted. I fix my pants and pat my hair back down.
JFC =  :bleed eyes:

Quote
I exit the room saying what I needed to. She’ll get over her little tantrum later. She always does. And before you know it we’ll be back into bed with each other having amazing sex. So I’m really not worried.
Details? Please? ;D

Perv chapter??? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease?

Quote
“Uh…Takahashi-san?”

Not again. My job is never done.

“Yes?”

The guy cowards as I stare at him. I’m really not in the mood, but this might be urgent.

“I-I…we’ve found some news you might want to look at immediately.”
Oy, hearing that never means anything good.

I'm going to switch between many POVs with my characters. If that gets too confusing let me know and I could put a title at the top saying who's POV is this.

CHAPTER 4

I’m so exhausted. I was up all night doing blood transfers, stitching, and patching wounds to over twenty people. I’ve only gotten about three hours of sleep. I should probably go back to bed, but I have other things to do later. I have to check on the wounded people to see if they made it through the night. Most of them died last night though. We’ll have to burry them tonight. There’s so much to do. I yawn and stretch to loosen my tighten muscles. Tiredly, I look around my room to enjoy the sunny morning. I my eyes settle to the foot of my bed.

“Good morning!”

“WHOA!”

I jump right out of bed and trip over my blanket. I smack hard to the ground. Ow!

“I’m sorry Maimi, are you ok? I didn’t mean to scare you.” Airi apologizes

I carefully untangle myself from the sheets. I place a hand to my still racing heart. She scared the hell out of me! I didn’t even know she was sitting at the edge of my bed the whole time!

“Yeah…I’m fine just…in pain.”

I rub my aching shoulder that took most of the fall. It hurts worse than my head. Airi puts on a guilty face. I put my hand down to my side. I’m curious to why she’s in my room this early.

“I brought you breakfast from the mess hall! I know how you hate eating there so I thought I could save you the walk. I hope you aren’t mad at me.”

She presents me with a tray filled with food. It’s filled with all my favorite type of dishes. It’s really nice of her to go through that. And who wouldn’t hate eating there?  I can’t really stand sitting at a table and just seeing someone sitting next to me with a cup of warm blood, drinking it like it’s coffee. I tend to lose my appetite seeing that. I take a sit at the edge of the bed and take the tray.

“Thank you.”

I suddenly realize something. My face scrunches up in confusion. She holds her happy smile, waiting for my question.

“I thought I locked the door. How did you get in here?”

“Oh you did. I just picked the lock. I learned it, because I had nothing else to do while you were away on missions. It’s strange, because I can only unlock your door.” Airi scratches her head confused.

That doesn’t really make much sense. She’s strange sometimes. She shrugs at me and laughs. My stomach growls, I better eat now. I’ll need all my energy to go on another mission. I pick up my fork and cut a small piece from my pancakes. I ate all of my food in about ten minutes, because I was so hungry. Now, my stomach was full and I was starting to become less sleepy despite the fact that I had little sleep. I took Airi by the waist with both hands and hug her stomach. I placed her between my legs so I could press my face against her midsection. She was so soft and warm. She puts her hand on my head and starts stroking my hair.

“Did I thank you for the food?”

She giggles and I feel her stomach shake against my cheek.

“Yes, you already did.”

I lean back to look her in the face properly. Her smile slowly disappears and she looks at me as if she’s trying to read me. I motion for her to sit next to me. She looks more worried. I take a deep breath.

“I’m sorry how I acted yesterday. It’s just you’re…”

“I know.”

Well that was easy. I did kind of expect this conversation to go a little longer. I guess she put everything passed her already. That makes one less thing to worry about. I’m relived. I slide my hand over the sheets and rest it on her hand. I lean forward, lost in her eyes. I’m a little concerned if I’m going too fast, but I can’t tell if I don’t give it a try now. But what if I suddenly turned into a bad kisser?! She would she still want to be around me if I’m that bad of a kisser?! Ok, I really need to shut up and just kiss her already. I dip straight in and kiss her. Nope, I still got it. It takes her a second to respond. She’s a little shy at first, but she gets used to it. The kiss is slow at first. I don’t want to rush things with her.  My hands seem to have a mind of their own though. They go from resting on her thighs to going on the back of her neck to deepen the kiss. I’m really starting to get into our kisses too. She opens her mouth to let out a small moan and on instinct; I slip my tongue in to touch hers. I feel her go stiff for just a moment out of surprise. We’ve never had any kisses like this yet; I was waiting for her to be ready. She’s over the shock and starts putting her tongue in my mouth. My whole body feels like it’s on fire. I want to do a lot more than just kiss her. I need to feel her closer to me, this isn’t enough, and with my acute hearing I can hear her heart racing. Her scent is much stronger; it makes me crave her more. I moan, no longer in control to my desires.

“Maimi!”

We both break away shocked. We’re both out of breath too. I nearly fell off the bed. Airi scratched the back of her ear nervously. Her whole face is completely red. I’m pretty sure I look the same as her. The banging on the door gets my attention. I clear my throat before answering.

“Coming!” I stumble to my feet.

It’s harder than it looks to walk. My two legs had just turned to jell-O and my heart was beating so loud into my ears. Not to mention I was…kind of…turned on. I managed to reach the door and swing it open.

“Good morning Ai.”

I tried to sound at least happy to see her, even though I really wasn’t. She had the worse timing right now. She gives me a stern not so happy look back. Right away I knew something was up. I’m afraid to ask what. By the look on her face this is something big.

“Meet me on top floor in five minutes. There’s an important meting.”

She walks away and down the hall. I close the door and press my head against the polished wood. Work just had to call at the moment. After I compose myself, I turn around. I should start getting ready. Ai’s real strict when it comes to being on time.

“I have to go.” I tell Airi

I walk to my closet to see what to wear. I have to be fast so I can’t be that picky.

“I want to come too.” She complains

I really don’t need this right now. I grab a pale yellow T-shirt with denim shorts and step out the closet. I give Airi my scolding face.

“You can’t. She said only me. I won’t be gone for too long.”

I take off my shirt. Airi looks away, her face turns a faint tint of pink.

“It isn’t fair! You always say I can’t go to things like this. I want to do a mission with you.”

I quickly pull on my shorts. I don’t really want to go over this talk again with her. I just don’t have the time to.

“I’m trying to keep you safe.”

“There are other humans that go on missions too and they don’t get hurt.”

She’s starting to get really mad. I don’t want to fight with her right now.

“Yeah and did you SEE how they look from last night’s mission?”

I pull out two pair of white socks and slip them on. I can see her angry expression in the mirror.

“It won’t happen to me if I train with you! You always keep me here like some little kid. I’m not a child Maimi, I’m sixteen!”

Now she’s mad. This is not exactly the best way I wanted to start off my morning. I hate when we fight, but we’ve been doing that a lot. And right now I can’t have one. I don’t have time to listen.

“Airi, I can’t right now. We’ll talk later.”

I walk right out before she could say anything else. It isn’t the smartest way to end an argument, but I have to go. I hope she’s not too mad at me to talk about it later.

So Maimi's the medic as well, eh?

That's cute, in an odd sort of way.  It's not likely that Airi would want to open up anyone else's door anyway. :P

Uh-oh. This has to do with what was about to happen at the end of the previous chapter, doesn't it? :O

I quickly pull on my shorts. I don’t really want to go over this talk again with her. I just don’t have the time to.

“I’m trying to keep you safe.”

“There are other humans that go on missions too and they don’t get hurt.”
Ah, so Airi's just a "regular" human then. No wonder Maimi's so scared of something happening to her. Compared to vampires and werewolves, regular humans are, for lack of a better term.....fragile.

Quote
“Airi, I can’t right now. We’ll talk later.”

I walk right out before she could say anything else. It isn’t the smartest way to end an argument, but I have to go. I hope she’s not too mad at me to talk about it later.
:(

Maybe Maimi should talk to Aichan about this.  She might be able to help out, like getting her into some training and even find her some "tasks" to do so that she's not always just stuck back at the compound waiting all the time.

CHAPTER 5

The first thing I noticed when I walked into the meeting was the lack of Reina’s presences. She’s normally at meetings before me. And there was no possible way she could be running late. Ai’s tougher on her with being late than anyone else here. I didn’t think much of it. Whatever she did was none of my business. I wasn’t the one that was going to get the hot end of Ai’s wrath later. Right now she was too busy talking to one of her workers to see me. It seemed like it was a hot topic too. They were both into what they were saying and kept going on intensively. She spots me and points to an empty chair at the round table in her office. She ends dismisses the worker and joins me. Whatever she was talking about with that guy it got her in mood worse than before. How bad is this thing that’s got her so strung up?

“We have a problem.” She starts

Well yeah, I kind of knew that. I’m edgy to know what else is wrong besides that. I mean that is a given. She slides a single sheet of paper in my direction. On the paper was a drawing of some sword. From the writing around it and engraved on the blade, I can tell it’s a very old weapon. I’m not sure what this means or what it has to do with anything.

“What is it?” I ask, fed up trying to decode the writing

“That’s the thing that’s pissing me off.” She remarks, and glares down to the drawing

I look back down at the picture. This sword is getting her in a bad mood? What’s so dangerous about this thing? It’s just like any other sword I’ve seen and handled. Why should this be any different? Sure it’s decorated nicely and it has to be over a thousand years old, but why fuss over it?

“What’s the big deal it’s just a sword?” I casually ask

Ai gets up and begins to pace. Her eyes flicker a molten color. She’s angry again. I should watch what I say just in case she loses her temper.

“That’s where you’re wrong. If you could read the text you would understand. I’ve been up nearly all night translating that paper. Do you know what it says?”

I shake my head. I may be good at fighting and patching wounds, but I’m not exactly book smart when it comes to this. And I never took a liking to history either. Ai runs a hand through her short brown hair.

“To put things easily, that sword basically has power. The type of power that would screw us over if it’s in the wrong hands.”

I see. Ok, so that sword is bad. Why don’t we get it and it would be the end of our problem. It’s no big deal. It’s almost like a scavenger hunt. Those can be fun.

“I want you to get that sword and destroy it.”

There goes my plans for something fun.

“What why? If it’s really that strong we could use it.”

“That type of power is too strong for anyone to hold. To wield that sword…it has to take your soul. It gets to your head. It’s like making a deal with the devil.”

Ok it’s not only a dangerous sword, but also a scary one. I’ll try to keep clear of touching it then. But I won’t be able to do it tonight. I’ll be too busy in that stupid cage of mine. I sigh out disappointed.

“I can’t tonight Ai, it’s a full moon tonight remember? Can’t you send Reina?”

She frowns at the mention of her name. It seems like something is going on between them. I won’t even ask. I don’t want to be brought into more problems when I have a few of my own with Airi. I think it’s best to keep quiet.

“I’m aware of that, but Reina won’t be working on this mission with you. You’ll be on your own. The moon only last about three days. When that’s over I want to you get to work on this immediately. This sword is not something to mess around with.”

This is the first mission that I’m doing by myself. I can’t screw this up. I don’t know where to start! Ok, I have to relax its no big deal. I can do this on my own. I can’t let Ai know I’m freaking out over this. Oh but who wouldn’t with the way Ai talked about this thing and how dangerous it is.

“You may leave.” She interrupts

I get up and high tail right out of there. I would hate to be the person to get on her last nerves. This isn’t turning out to be so much of a great day for her. It isn’t going to be that much of great either for me. Since I now have to face Airi and finish that argument we had. I would have to find her first. When she’s angry, she usually tries to find things to do to cool down, but where could she be? I think I know one place.

COMMENTS EDITED BECAUSE I GOT MIXED UP AND THOUGHT THIS FIC WAS ANOTHER ONE. :P

CHAPTER 5

Quote
The first thing I noticed when I walked into the meeting was the lack of Reina’s presences. She’s normally at meetings before me. And there was no possible way she could be running late. Ai’s tougher on her with being late than anyone else here.
Not a good sign. If this meeting is indeed about that thing that Aichan was told about, then the major players should be there to at least be aware of what's going on.

Quote
She slides a single sheet of paper in my direction. On the paper was a drawing of some sword. From the writing around it and engraved on the blade, I can tell it’s a very old weapon. I’m not sure what this means or what it has to do with anything.

“What is it?” I ask, fed up trying to decode the writing

“That’s the thing that’s pissing me off.” She remarks, and glares down to the drawing
In a modern time setting such as this one, a sword is what's troubling her?

Quote
“To put things easily, that sword basically has power. The type of power that would screw us over if it’s in the wrong hands.”

I see. Ok, so that sword is bad. Why don’t we get it and it would be the end of our problem. It’s no big deal. It’s almost like a scavenger hunt. Those can be fun.

“I want you to get that sword and destroy it.”

There goes my plans for something fun.
Okay. When the goal is to destroy a potentially powerful weapon, rather than capture and use it, you know that there's go to be a big reason why.

Quote
“What why? If it’s really that strong we could use it.”

“That type of power is too strong for anyone to hold. To wield that sword…it has to take your soul. It gets to your head. It’s like making a deal with the devil.”
Dang, it's THAT powerful? If that's the case, then destroying it would be the smart thing to do. If it can't be controlled, then it's a potential danger to anyone and everyone that gets near it.

Quote
I’ll be too busy in that stupid cage of mine. I sigh out disappointed.

“I can’t tonight Ai, it’s a full moon tonight remember?

...

Can’t you send Reina?”

She frowns at the mention of her name. It seems like something is going on between them. I won’t even ask. I don’t want to be brought into more problems when I have a few of my own with Airi. I think it’s best to keep quiet.
Bloody good timing, of course.  Even though Reina's probably got the skills to get the job done, Maimi's still probably the more "reliable" one. :banghead:

It's not likely that she'll be able to hide the fact that she's going on another mission soon. Even if she doesn't tell Airi herself, she'd likely find out eventually anyway, which would then lead back to the issue that started the argument in the first place.
:dizzy:

Maimi is also a rebel in this chapter!
It's great!
Ai-chan can not control to Maimi and Reina! XD
This is the best of all!  :P
They do what they want!
I do not like to see a Maimi coward ...  :sweatdrop:
but... she is not a coward ...  :sweatdrop:

Now I understand because they are co-workers Reina and Maimi! :w00t:  :inlove: :yep:

So then...is Chapter 5 set BEFORE Maimi loses her memory, or is she just faking that? It does not make sense that she'd remember stuff  like where the High-King lair is and who Aichan/Reina/etc are, but ONLY not remember her personal stuff.

DOH!

See, this is what happens when you're reading multiple fics at the same time, and they use the same people as the main characters.

Now I'll have to edit my comments on this most recent chapter.
:on lol:

The HP KIDS are succeeding more popularity my dear JFC!
Now with the graduation of the Elder Club.
Just is Morning Musume,Berryz Koubou and  ° C-Ute. AH! and the current unit Ice Cream!
and will soon Fan Fic of Ice Cream with time.
Besides Morning Musume also has many Fan Fic. XD

@writerjunkie: no matter who are the same characters,  Because everyone looks the same agency H! P.
Does not matter that has swords, bows, daggers, supernatural powers, vampires or anything else.
This fan fic is very different from High King.
in High King  The sword elect its owner. :)
and in her history,  this sword is like having a pact with the devil. :)

There are a vampire! as in the history of Estrea.
And also is different from the story of Estrea.
In the history of Estrea  Maimi is not a werewolf.
And this werewolf does not work with a vampire to kill the  villains.
and in her history
Tanaka is a vampire and companion of Maimi and she is a werewolf.
Tanaka and Maimi,  they are mates.
They work together in missions to wipe out the villains.
I imagine that in this story the main characters are Tanaka and Maimi.
Or I may be wrong ... nE? Gomene... :P
And many questions arise which did  reveal ...
How they met with Ai?
How Maimi and Tanaka  became companions?
Why Tanka y Maimi decided  work with Ai?
What's behind that?
There is a covenant or a reward?
They had to have a covenant or a reward to work with Ai ...
Risking ... her ass for free ...
I do not think so ...
It is an agency I suppose ...
an agency where there are people with supernatural powers?
Y. ..
Who are the villains?
Who is the enemy of Ai?
writer you have to be explaining these things ...
These details ...
Dan another approach wing history ...
  truth... JFC?
GambaRE!!!!  writer!!!!!! GamabrE!!!!! :)
You prove it can make a different story despite having little details in common with other stories of the forum!
GambaRE!!

lol It's ok JFC

and yes will try and explain things further on. Right now I'm taking things slow. I hope things aren't to slow or if it makes no sense or doesn't cover enough detail on things. I'll try my best to make make the story good.
