So was it really an April Fool's joke? I mean, I heard about the whole deal... but haven't heard about it being a joke yet. I did think it was a little off.

I don't believe it was just an April Fools' joke. I think  he was surprised by the disgust people had over the revelation that he had second thoughts about having revealed it and is just covering it up.
