Okay, this is just too much. How much bad luck does this woman have?
A Chinese sex shop worker kidnapped and held captive for six days was freed and released in Tokyo early Saturday, police said, adding that they had also arrested the woman for visa violations. (http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/national/news/20070428p2a00m0na007000c.html)
Police responded to the kidnapping by arresting the victim for visa violations after learning she had been residing illegally in Japan for the past five years.

How about the kidnappers? No crime done if you do it to an illegal alien huh...

Meh, having something bad done to you doesn't excuse any criminal acts you've done in the past yourself.
I can't get off for murdering someone because someone later stole my wallet.

Oh, I agree 100% It's just that this woman had all the bad luck, if it weren't for the kidnapping police may have never found out about her illegal status.

Wait, what!? You mean those people just kinda randomly kidnapped some person and demanded money from the person's friend? AND released the captive after they found out that they couldn't get the kind of money they wanted? Am I comprehending it right!?

^ That tends to happen quite a bit (along the lines of getting a ransom). Kidnapping famous people is mostly a movie thing.
They did beat her... so they didn't really "let her go"... kinda.
