A group of magicians has filed a lawsuit against Nippon Television Network (NTV) and TV Asahi, demanding 1.98 million yen in compensation and an apology from the broadcasters for revealing the secrets behind coin tricks. (http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/national/news/20070502p2a00m0na005000c.html)

I wonder if cyril takayama (sp?) is one of those magicians

Stop showing us the cheap crappy magics. Invent some good magic yourself. Actually, it is about the performances, not equipments.
-
hoho.. how can they(tv stations) reveal the trick without the permission of they performer.. that's cruel.. but compesate for 1.98 million yen for that is even cruel.. this is LIFE..

i always thought magic is all about lying...and indeed it is lying... ;D

The lawsuit said that the television stations had introduced several gimmick coins, and revealed magic secrets in their reports, such as how cigarettes were passed through the coins.
So that's how they do it...

If one can buy magic book or borrow magic book from Library, then it is prior arts and not trade secret. --

There was a really big uproar in the US a couple years back when a magician made a show showing all the secrets to the magic tricks. Some of the were hardcore too. Like Blair's ice box trick. Meh, magic is still interesting to watch, especially with Otsuka Ai getting all into it XD

this kinda reminds me of Penn and Teller's magic cup and balls trick with clear cups.
it's amazing what they can do.
