Title: A Study on the Various Subspecies of Otaku
Post by: reyfer on May 22, 2007, 07:43:05 PM: Considering ALL of us here are otaku (yes watching Japanese cartoons makes you a nerd no matter how great their "storyline" is), there must be a great many type of otaku around. Let us attempt to classify these mythical beasts into recognisable subspecies, so we can form little herds at parties and not encroach on each others’ territories. Oh, party and otaku is like… land and fish. Unless the word "LAN" precedes "party".

The Old Fighter-We who are veterans of the Subbed v Dubbed Wars of the 90s, devotees of shows that modern young whippersnappers have never heard of, such as Bubblegum Crisis, Gall Force, and Robotech (aka Macross), the stuff that newbies see and laugh at the poor art.

BTW watching the pics i remember that in Japan they got pillows with figures of girls O_o that´s scary but maybe the Figure Otaku´s are the worst... don´t know i´m just a closetnerd XDDD

I'm a closetnerd and slightly moeOtaku - I say slightly cos I have a fair few anime figures but thats it. No posters or pillows (wtf) and I'm female :D

However, I would definitely fall into a mixture of Old School Anime, Mecha-head (more to mecha than Gundam) and a few others.

I think shokotan is a much more reliable(and sexy) source of otaku info than whoever wrote that.

(yes I know the person isn't serious... but it makes the person seem a little ignorant of actual otaku culture <_<)
