Title: World oldest male, 111 years old
Post by: reyfer on June 18, 2007, 01:40:01 PM
An 111-year-old Japanese just named the world's oldest man said he owed his longevity to steering clear of alcohol.

"I don't drink alcohol -- that is the biggest reason for my good health," Tomoji Tanabe told reporters on Monday. He also told media he does not smoke and likes a glass of milk a day.

I credit my long life because I surf internet everyday.  Haha.  Can't wait to hear that in the news.

What is the point of living that long? All you basicly do is on the bed and let someone to take care of you. I know I dont want that.

And how are you so sure about that? From what I hear, this man is pretty active still, running his garden and taking long walks by himself. And as proved by the interview, his mind is still working good too. One thing is to see a healthy old person, and another to see an old person that had bad habits all his/her life. My great-grandfather died at 100. I still remember when he had his 95th birthday, he danced with his daughters, his granddaughters, five great-granddaughters and two of his great-great-granddaughters (I don't know if that's the way to write it), and when they sat down, he kept dancing and said "women today get tired too soon". He never smoked, he drank lightly, and he ate lots of fresh food. And of course, living in a farm, he exercised every day during his usual labors. So I think there is a difference.

He looks a lot younger than 111 yrs old!  :) It's amazing, to live that long. I'd like to live that long and still be healthy. The fact taht he hasn't drunk any alcohol probably helped his brain growth a lot and drinking a glass of milk a day is really good! ^__^ Hope he can have a long lasting life and become the longest living person!
