Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim is the world's richest man, worth an estimated $67.8 billion, after overtaking Microsoft Corp. founder Bill Gates, according to a respected tracker of Mexican financial wealth on Monday. (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,287936,00.html)

With the iPhone just coming out recently, and all the people lining out wanting to buy one (not including yours truly, thank you very much) Gates will likely be back on top next year.
-
Isn't Mexico like...a third world country? Wow. Surprising.

You probably meant Steve Jobs and Apple Computer (former name).

The lesson to be learned here is, "Don't make posts while you're falling asleep in your chair."

Ah, so if Mexico can produce the most richest man in the world (billions of dollars) why the hell can't they get their act together with the government? Thats some bullshit right there.

Sorry, but what does one thing have to do with the other?

I'll go a step further and say that it's keeping them from getting it together. Russia has tons of wealthy people too.
Even in the US, 33% of the wealth belongs to the richest 1% of the population. That ain't healthy.
Having lots of incredibly super-rich people and lots of peasants trying to scrape by is a recipe for an unhealthy society and a loss of real democracy.
I admire Bill Gates' charity, but I still think that the concentration of so much wealth in the hands of so few while the spending power of the majority is constantly eroded is a recipe for disaster.
In related news, Chryslers will now be manufactured in China: http://money.cnn.com/2007/07/04/news/international/bc.chrysler.chery.exports.reut/index.htm?postversion=2007070408

Does is it really matter who's the richest? Another useless stat amongst many useless stats.
