Title: Botched tummy tucks and glued back ears: dramatic rise in DIY plastic surgery
Post by: Foxy Brown on July 13, 2007, 02:14:14 PM
Some people are so desperate to change their appearance that they have glued back their ears, tried to iron the wrinkles off their face and even cut open their stomachs in botched DIY tummy-tucks, according to a top psychologist. This is really sad. It shows where peoples priorities are really at nowadays, and that they're too lazy to lose the weight in the tummy area the old fashioned way.

Alot of outspoken people *cough*Tyra*cough* have been saying that there's alot more acceptance when it comes to different body images nowadays, but if the number of DIY cosmetic surgeries are on the rise, then I'd have to disagree. :/

Tyra and a lot of other people talk about being comfortable in your own body, but not that many of them are taken very seriously. Lots of people just see them as fat/ugly people who are mad at everyone else and are too lazy to fix their "problem". I've seen Tyra's "So What" campaign thing somewhere, but I don't know how big it is. There still so much focus on being skinny.

Ah there is alot of focus on being thin, from many places, and I think it'll be a while before it manages to change. Aslong as people still by into the image, then it'll probably still be pushed onto people.

And maybe I was a bit harsh with what I said before about people being too lazy to lose the pounds the old fashioned way. It's just that everyone nowadays, no matter what size or shape they are, they're always looking for the quickest option for anything. Not that they're necessarily lazy, but moreso that everyones just kinda impatient, y'know? In an age where everything is usually just a click a way, people are kinda desensitized. And yeah, I'm probably off on some random tangent, but hopefully it makes some sense.
