Title: Installing a New Dvd Drive on Computer

I'm not sure how to install and different Internal DVD Drive onto my computer, but first i need to remove the one already there but i dont know how to remove it. i dont know if i have to do anything on the Control Panel or not.

please help

It should just be a matter of putting it in and attaching the cables. You shouldn't need to remove the old one unless it's broken or there's no room for the new one.

Should be screws in the case to remove the old one. As Foxy said, you should be able to just swap them, or just stick the new one in if your case has a spare IDE connector (big flat and usually beige cables, like the one connecting your current DVD) and spare 4-pin power connector.

^ Swapping would be better, connecting it as a second drive (on the same cable) would probaly call for setting the jumpers differenlty.

well you see, i want to install a new one because the DvD drive i have now on my computer only reads DvD and doesnt burn DvD.

and thats it, just take it out manually and put the new one in manually, don't have to do anything virtually?

so you mean run the CD that comes with the drive?

^ if it has one it probably contains it.
