Title: Senatorial gamer
Post by: Foxy Brown on July 29, 2007, 03:04:19 AM
Usually when I sit down to interview a senator, the discussion centers around politics and policy, the legislation the lawmaker is trying to get passed. The conversation can get a bit dogmatic and sometimes dry, as he or she tries to get across why the bill is so important, what aspect of the government needs to be changed or improved, etc.

That wasn't the case when I recently sat down with the lawmaker that most closely identifies with my personal beliefs and issues ... when it comes to the World of Warcraft.

Yes, people of Guam, one of your elected representatives in the Legislature is a gamer; more specifically, a WOW geek. He talks the gamer geek talk and walks the gamer geek walk.

He is Sen. Ray Tenorio, and he plays a level-70 Dwarven priest by the name of Paleray (Pale Ray -- the game only allows one-word names) for the guild Knights of the Marianas on the Silverhand server. Too bad his assembly is not in DC. Other senators might doze off, but for him no sir.  Levl 70 Dwarf priest... It is good to have a job to support gamer's lifestyle.
