Herb Katz, an education professor at the University of Alberta, took 175 boys in the third and fourth grades, identified as struggling readers, and paired them with a research assistant who worked on their reading skills for 30 minutes a week over 10 weeks.
Fucking hell I KNOW THIS DUDE! He used to be on staff at the University of Winnipeg! I took one of his classes! :o
Anyway, his thing is DEFINITELY children's literacy and getting kids to read more/better. He knows his stuff but he can be a real douchebag sometimes.
