COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - An elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were harassed or chased against their will.

"It causes a lot of conflict on the playground," said Cindy Fesgen, assistant principal of the Discovery Canyon Campus school.

Running games are still allowed as long as students don't chase each other, she said. Fesgen said two parents complained to her about the ban but most parents and children didn't object. In 2005, two elementary schools in the nearby Falcon School District did away with tag and similar games in favor of alternatives with less physical contact. School officials said the move encouraged more students to play games and helped reduce playground squabbles. so they're pretty much banning games with physical contact with other kids...

I hated normal tag anyways, it was just mindless chasing. Freeze tag is where it's at.

zomg tag was the shiet, we even had stuff like BOYS AGAINST GIRLS~ and vice versa lol

but seriously, this is ridiculous, like that one school in virginia where they banned physical contact altogether (handshakes, hi5s, etc).

America, its okay that you're trying to be politically correct or appease the minority, but shit, it should be handled to a certain degree and now it looks like you have a stick up your ass. -_-

If playing tag is too much for those kids complaining why they can't play something else? Like sitting in a corner by themselves. Now they spoiled everyone's fun.

I agree that simple tag is quite boring though.

One day, one of those kids from that school will wake up in the middle of the night, 30 years later, and wonder what happened to his childhood and WEEP.

I usely got tag in 30 seconds just for the heck of it. Thats really ashame to do something like that. :(

I don't think I ever played any form of tag in school(nor did most kids)...

I usually played at the park or on someone's yard

But we still played games with physical contact and games that involved chasing other kids

I liked regular tag if it was in a small area with lots of people and no bases(bases are for suckas :P).

I can't think of any fun games that don't involve physical contact. Do they even exist?
