Three police officers in Hunan Province have been punished after they fined a couple 5,000 yuan (US$662) for hugging in a public area, the Beijing News reported today. (http://www.shanghaidaily.com/sp/article/2007/200708/20070830/article_329312.htm)

holy shit that's a lot for hugging. Imagine if they were one of those people with the "free hugs" sign
good thing the money was returned

next they will be catching couple holding hands....

I won't be surprised if they did that actually .

It seems like society is getting more and more jumpy over people interaction. At my school they're enforcing a rule to where you can't even touch one another unless you really can't help it (like bumping each other in the hallways). It's ridiculous.
However, I think in this case the police were just desperate to meet their deadline or whatever they do. XD
